Scanning a non-purchased DLC character is just like scanning an unlockable character you've yet to unlock. The data's already on the disc, so it loads the fighter, but doesn't unlock it (otherwise Nintendo would make like, no money with the DLC since one amiibo would unlock it for unlimited people).

Now, we all know that Sakurai was probably referencing Cloud in this tweet right here.
What if (this is probably a lot of wishful thinking) he was referencing another fighter that will be revealed in December? The way Sakurai words it makes it seem like its Cloud, but its certainly possible that he could be referencing someone else. It's debatable though.
Although, I don't really think he's referencing another fighter myself. I just thought the idea might be sort of interesting from that perspective. So, we'll really have to wait and see what happens in the upcoming Smash Bros. Presentation in December. Again, this is just me wishfully thinking =P.

I'm at least 80% sure we're getting a second character in that presentation anyhow, and around 60% sure of a third one.

They already revealed one character and one stage, I can't see the presentation not having more characters at all.

IMO were getting cloud and two other characters in December. If Roy,ryu and Lucas can get done 4-6 months I'm sure 1-3 characters (one being cloud) could of got done in that time

As if Ultra Smash wasn't bad enough:
Their lips barely move. Sometimes, they don't even move at all (Waluigi)
Dry Bowser's animations are a carbon copy of Bowser's
Every character's model but Bowser Jr.'s and Sprixie's are ripped from Mario Kart 8.
Bowser Jr. is ripped from Mario Party 10. Sprixie is ripped from 3D World.
No losing animations?
On top of having only one court and no tournament mode, this piece of Ultra Trash can't seem to stop being crap. The fact that you can get the original game (a much better game btw) for 10 bucks on the eshop only justifies that it was extremely rushed out the door.

Today is not only the 1st anniversary of Smash Bros. for Wii U, but also of this diamond of video game music :


Everything, I mean EVERYTHING, is brilliant and perfectly orchestrated in this music track, from the very first to the very last note, and without any idle time.

I listen to it nearly all the time every day since last year, and that without ever getting tired of it yet.

So I'm going to predict for the December Direct:

-We are infact only getting two characters left.
-One WONT be Wolf (Curses!!!!)
-No more first party characters
-SK could very well be the ballot winner (Still hope this isn't true)
-We will get a M$ rep in some form. (Might not be ballot related)

The Microsoft rep seems like its been in our faces the whole time. Phil Spencer said he would love to use Banjo in Smash. He let Nintendo use jetpac in DK64 on VC. Theres the mysterious Windows logo in Mario Maker. (Seriously, what is this about?!?!?!?)

It might not even be Banjo, but it seems like its a pretty good possibility. Banjo did score very well on the poll regardless, so its possible he could be ballot related. I'm also very confident Cloud is not ballot related.

I'm kind of surprised how many people apparently get most of their knowledge about Pikmin stuff from watching Chuggaaconroy's let's plays. I don't have a problem with it though; I'm just happy to find other people to talk about Pikmin with, whether they know about it from watching other people play the games or playing them themselves.

Welp, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash seems shamelessly rushed. Quite a low blow for Nintendo considering their usual high quality standards.

But still better in software quality than some AAA titles. AFAIK, I haven't seen any really insane bugs like what happened with certain Assassin's Creed games...

Nonetheless, the game really suffers from a tremendous lack of features that are inexcusable considering the prequels had more to offer. The fact Nintendo charges it full price is just embarrassing considering Xenoblade X exists at the same price.

Actually it's $40 (same as Captain Toad and Splatoon in other regions except NA).

But that's not really an acceptable price either, the game could pass off as a $20 eshop game.

My point still stands. :p

Well, Nintendo of Europe has decided to offer Mario Tennis 64 for free in a promotional offer. Almost as if compensating for the fact it's a rushed game with not much to offer.

Rushed game or not, they still have to market it.

The only two newcomers are third Parties.
And they are both very technical characters.
Ryu has his extremely technical move-set that has multiple different outcomes depending on where and how the buttons are pressed which come straight out of his series.
Cloud has this limit Break feature which seems to look technical from my understanding (Please note I have no knowledge on final Fantasy at this point) and his stage is also looks like an extremely technical stage which may explain why he could of came after the ballot ended.
Another thing when comparing the two is they are both gaming All Star's and both of their newest games are not coming to a Nintendo system as of right now.
Either way I'm not that bothered if he is a ballot or not. :p

You say this under the assumption that ballot characters will be lazily made.

I don't see how having unique gameplay mechanics means a character MUST be pre-ballot. The grand majority of SSB4's newcomers have unique mechanics.

Actually, re-reading this, not a single point you've made has anything to do with ballot status whatsoever. "It's non-ballot because it's technical!" makes no sense.
