Okay...would BANJO make up for Isaac then?

Banjo would make me euphoric, and I do want him more than Isaac, but at the end of the day when you spend ten years vocally supporting a character only getting that specific character makes up for the support. Or, in Isaac's case, Matthew could suffice.

Don't get me wrong, I don't need any characters to make up for Isaac. The quality of the game itself makes up for Isaac. I'd love to get Isaac, but the game is not of a lesser quality without him or anything. Like, I had come to terms with and was fine with Isaac's omission (well not fine... but I accept it) before any of the DLC had even been announced. I only ever gave Isaac a 50/50 shot at most for this game, even back when everyone thought popularity mattered more than recency.

I can fully appreciate the game without Isaac in it, having said that, only Isaac (or Matthew) makes up for Isaac.

I should clarify.
The reason that I'm asking this is because it really bums me out how Isaac is probably not ever getting included.

I can empathize. It bums me out more that people think Golden Sun has always been niche when the series performed commercially like Awakening and critically like Xenoblade. It also bums me out that one misstep in the series has brought about this indefinite hiatus when the first two titles performed, well... as I just said. That's not fair.

This applies to all of the characters that have been supported since Brawl...King K. Rool, Dixie Kong, Isaac, Midna, Banjo & Kazooie, and even to a degree, Krystal and Geno.

I feel like this group of characters are all Nintendo All-Stars but despite that most of them don't have good representation.

Yep. As someone who supported Isaac, Krystal, Bomberman, and Diddy (who doesn't count cuz he got included lol) during Brawl I know the feeling.

But after a certain amount of time when you support these kind of characters you've just got to accept their likely fate. Otherwise you're just going to drive yourself up a wall. It's not like being realistic about their odds precludes continuing to support them or anything, some people think it does.

However it especially hurts for Isaac because he's one of the ones where it seemed like he was very likely at first and then was immediately buried every subsequent update.

Supporting Isaac is just a timeline of pain. He's that kind of character where he's always on the cusp, just missing the boat. -_-

He's truly a victim of bad timing. If the competition wasn't as stiff around Brawl he definitely would've been included. If his series was still as well received post-Brawl as it was pre-Brawl he definitely would've been included this time around. But no... we should only be so lucky.

Like Shulk, he was the victim of perfect timing (and no I'm not trying to start another Shulk vs. Isaac fight, those things are silly).

Gonna make my prediction about the Direct.

We're getting one character alongside Cloud, someone who isn't nearly as hype as him, but would appeal to the Smash community. IMO, the reason they released Cloud early was to draw the largest amount of viewers into the Smash Direct.

Then, at the end, we'll get a preview of the ballot winner, still a W.I.P.

I say this because it wasn't until recently that they added a 3rd character slot to the game's code, so I'm doubtful this 3rd character is done. Likewise, if Cloud has been in development for a long time like the slots insinuate, then so would this 2nd character.
