On one hand, I'd prefer for him to come back because it would just feel incredibly odd being the first Smash Brothers with Sakurai not as director.

...But on the other hand, Sakurai needs to take it easy for once in his life. Especially now with him having tendinitis.

Leaning more towards Sakurai retiring his role as director. It'd honestly be interesting to see where a new director took the series, whether they stuck close to what Sakurai would (maybe) do or went a completely new direction in a few ways (like whose fighting material and whose not).

Sakurai hs done so well so far. A few hiccups here and there but fantastic games. I worry if someone else could keep up. A fresh new look might be better but "don't fix what ain't broke" comes to mind

Honestly, I think the guy deserves a break. He just worked on three big games back to back (and he's still working on two of them), injured his arm as a result, and of course had to deal with the stressful entity that is the Smash fanbase...

I'd be fine with him coming back, but I'm also interested in how another director would handle it.

Definitely. I think he's really the only person who can do Smash Bros. right in a sense. Plus, he would probably prevent Smash Bros from having Day One DLC and microtransactions .
