Wait, why wouldn't Square have an English voice for Cloud on hand, even if it's a new one? Is the FF7 remake gonna be entirely done in text boxes?

Contrast with the other DLC voice actors such as Kyle Hebert (Ryu, English), Takahiro Sakurai (Cloud, Japanese) and Jun Fukuyama (Roy), who are still very active in voicing for video games and anime.

Kyle Hebert is voicing Ryu again in SF5 and has been the English language voice actor for the character since SF4, voicing him for all sorts of crossovers and cameos. Fukuyama and Sakurai have roles in currently airing anime and are fairly active in their career.

Naturally, it was easier to get them on board for Smash, which doesn't require a lot of voice acting in the first place.

Going by how Sakurai (the Smash director, not the VA) has stated he was a "difficult request" to handle, it's possible they didn't want to spend more resources than strictly necessary.

Just my two cents on the whole Cloud voice subject. I think he'll only have Japanese VO like Marth and Roy.

Funny you mention that. Burton tweeted this a few hours ago :

So I guess it's possible, but of course this could just be for FFVII remake.

Well, if he's back as Cloud, it's really strange why the trailer was in Japanese with subs when they could've recorded the lines in English for the trailer.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

It'd suck to have a JP only Cloud. In Mewtwo's case I understand but not Cloud. :/

Well since no one got it I'll say it bluntly:

My Spanish is garbage. I only half understood what I quoted. My response was not meant to make complete sense, especially not within any context.

I used "quarto de bano" instead of "cuarto de bano" (bathroom) to try and imply this but I apparently failed miserably. I'll go to my room now...

I think its probably because Square is still building most off the assets for the FFVII remake, which then all need to be built and programmed properly into the the game..

Plus voice actors normally get called to record their lines nearer the end of video-game productions, if I remember correctly, since voice actors aren't completely needed to make games work. And with FFVII remake being in its early stages from what it seems like right now, don't think Cloud's a will be recording for quite a while.

I'm already taking Spanish 3 right now, seeing it now is both good and bad. Well, its good practice I guess lol.
