People still play it? :o I only ever played the trial version but it really was a fun game.
Yeah, people do. BecausePeople still play it? :o I only ever played the trial version but it really was a fun game.
You sound a lot like some other YouTuber, but I can't recall who right now...actually, I might be thinking of someone from a Skype group I used to be on.Welp. Here's a new SG Discussion video for ya'll.
And yes, you get to hear my sexy voice for the first time.
There was a mod porting those models to Zoo Tycoon 2, iirc. I enjoyed that one.Yeah, people do. Because
1. Not too many dinosaur games out their, and the ones that are require PC graphics of lot of people's can't handle.(In case you couldn't tell with the lack of water reflection in that recording.)
2. Modding. Lots and lots of modding, and it's very easy. There's even a mod that makes the entire game look visually better, but my laptop can't handle it.
Then again, I do find myself playing stuff that's "old" but not old and surprisingly has an obscure fanbase that continues on. Such as M.U.G.E.N. Which can actually be very awesome if you know what works well, what's good and what isn't. Even though I had to do a lot of programming because of mistakes authors make with their creations....
Is that a dinosaur-only Zoo Tycoon type game?!
Jurassic Park Operation Genesis. Is that a dinosaur-only Zoo Tycoon type game?!
. . .Aw, you guys are saying only high spec computers can handle it and I have a laptop. . .
. . .You know what, who cares. Maybe there's a way I can set this without crashing my computer or something. If all else fails, I can just rest easy knowing this EXISTS.
What is this game called???? Is it called the title of your video, or something else?
I THOUGHT it looked very distinctly Jurassic Park-y. Can you buy it off of any download markets like Steam or is it disc-only?Jurassic Park Operation Genesis.
It's a very old game, actually. 2004 or something. Your laptop will run it just fine.
EDIT: And glad to see another Zoo Tycoon fan here.
It's not on steam. I've only played the trial version myself, as that is available everywhere.I THOUGHT it looked very distinctly Jurassic Park-y. Can you buy it off of any download markets like Steam or is it disc-only?
And yeah, I'm not any good at it, but I grew up with Zoo Tycoon since long before I even had any Nintendo games, so I definitely have fond memories.
No no, not at all. It's an older game. I'm saying I play it because most other dinosaur games are too high powered for my laptop. Is that a dinosaur-only Zoo Tycoon type game?!

The Spider transformation in Half-Genie Hero looks fun. Can't wait until the game releases.
Like a direct, but not.
Pretty much a quick Third Party showcase of upcoming titles.
Axiom Verge, Meat Boy Wii U, Shantae etc
It does. The Spider transformation in Half-Genie Hero looks fun. Can't wait until the game releases.
I honestly regret not donating any money to the Kickstarter. It does.
Feels nicer since I helped the Kickstarter with $200.
Someone needs to make a good game in the style of those someday.Woah, people still think about Zoo Tycoon?!?
I'll just be here, forever awaiting my expansion pack for Fantastic Animals.
*Cries in corner*Someone needs to make a good game in the style of those someday.
There's a couple knockoffs on Steam, but they all seem to have a far lower animal count than the actual games and none of the cool stuff like the dinos, marine life, and the odd fantasy creature you could find in the first game.
For now I guess we type Xanadu as the exhibit name, plunk those statues into an aquarium, and dream of a better world where you can build giant Jurassic Park style aviaries full of griffins and dragons.
I don't think there have been any particularly popular or big ones after Zoo Tycoon 2.Woah, people still think about Zoo Tycoon?!?

I remember wanting to install mods, but my eleven-year old mind could not comprehend such things.I don't think there have been any particularly popular or big ones after Zoo Tycoon 2.
MS did release new Zoo Tycoon in 2013, but it's a shadow compared ZT2 and is not even on PC (basically suicide).
Well, ZT2 has enough mods to more than make up for it.
Am I too late?I almost forgot: when I bought the amiibo last week at Best Buy, the receipt included free download codes for both 3DS & Wii U versions of Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge.
Since I already own it on both systems, anybody want them? Free of Charge. First come first serve.
Just note that you need at least one amiibo to play either version.
Apparently the reason why it went sour is because Blue Fang and Microsoft had a falling out.I don't think there have been any particularly popular or big ones after Zoo Tycoon 2.

Said the truth.Zoo Tycoon > Star Fox Zero
What have we done...
"Zoo Tycoon was a mistake".Zoo Tycoon > Star Fox Zero

I'm not sure if an Indie dev can actually develop a game like this. There is a absolutely massive amount of stuff to program in a zoo simulation game.Apparently the reason why it went sour is because Blue Fang and Microsoft had a falling out.
I watched a video of someone starting the Xbox game they handed to another dev the last time I saw this discussed, and it seemed like it was designed largely to push the Kinect gimmick and then promptly had that fact covered up by sheer graphics. It looks pretty enough, but at the very least the tutorials I watched seemed like they were dwelling pretty hard on the Kinect for a huge chunk of what they were doing.
At any rate, I hope someone in the indie crowd someday gets the idea to make a spiritual successor that actually bothers to include the coolest stuff.
It's Nintendo's most profitable endeavour in the past 2 years. It's safe to assume that amiibo will be compatible with the NX right?
They should follow in Yokai Watch's footsteps and release "Amiibo 2.0's"It's safe to assume that amiibo will be compatible with the NX right?
Thing is, (most) amiibos have a rather good combination of cost, quality and availability. High quality figures tend to more expensive or just unavailable. And even if you just want new figures of them, just ask for those and show interest in them. amiibo aren't the only kind of merchandise Nintendo makes and licenses.
I mean, I get both sides. They're likely asking for amiibo specifically, as opposed to another type of figure, so their collection seems more homogeneous. Like, having these roughly-four-inch tall figures on little bases next to a three foot tall Waluigi statue might be off-putting for many. An extreme example, of course, but I needed an excuse to pitch a three-foot-Waluigi-statue idea.Slight pet peeve of mine I want to share...
People asking for an amiibo for everything without any specific functions in mind.
Seriously, everything doesn't have to be an amiibo.
Like, I just saw someone suggest the idea that Nintendo make a "Smash Classics" line - amiibo of all the cut veterans in the Smash series.
But literally what would be the point in doing that? There's no real value if the chip doesn't have at least one major function tied to the game it represents.
If they add Wolf and Young Link and whatever other cut veterans into the next iteration of Smash, be that a brand new game or an updated and remixed port of Smash Wii U/3DS, then by all means, make amiibo for them, since they would likely have a guaranteed function that way.
But there is no point if they don't do anything. Heck, I would say the Pokémon characters, Wolf, and Young Link, all stand a chance of getting amiibo as part of their own franchises at some point. Especially Young Link, since the Legend of Zelda amiibo series has technically already started with Wolf Link.
I mean, if you want merchandise of these characters, all of them except Ice Climbers and Wolf have plenty of merchandise like figures and plushies already. For example, Young Link, Snake, and the past Pokémon characters sans Pichu, all have Nendoroids.
And even if you just want new figures of them, just ask for those and show interest in them. amiibo aren't the only kind of merchandise Nintendo makes and licenses.
I would be utterly shocked (and dissapointed) if they weren't.It's safe to assume that amiibo will be compatible with the NX right?
In some cases but not in all cases. There is plenty of Nintendo merch that's got that same combination. Truckloads of it if it's Pokémon you want. Mario, Zelda, and Kirby are pretty plentiful. In general, I recommend World of Nintendo figures if you want figures that are in the same price/quality range as amiibo. They release even more frequently than amiibo these days. They're also poseable and come with accessories.Thing is, (most) amiibos have a rather good combination of cost, quality and availability. High quality figures tend to more expensive or just unavailable.
And that still doesn't change the fact that people can just ask "can I get a figure of this character?", even in a similar "on a base" style that amiibo uses, without actually being one.

I normally don't do arbitrary ratings like this, but what the heck. Can we (Just for fun), rate Smash Bros. characters in FighterGeneration way? If you don't know what FightersGeneration is, it's a website about (You guessed it) FIghting games with News, introductions, and Character rating from other franchises.
He rates them on Moveset, Personality, Appearance, and Effectiveness to the series, then gives an overall score to the character, and has a summary with it.
For example:
Guile:
Moveset: 4.5/5
Personality:4.5/5
Apperance:4.5/5
Effectiveness: 5/5
Overall score: 4.5/5
Let's us do that, but with smash bros characters since he does not do those characters.
