I thought that move debuted in Gen II
I meant Night Shade

"Although Night Shade deals Ghost-type damage, its type does not alter the amount of damage it inflicts. Night Shade hits both Normal-type Pokémon and Psychic-type Pokémon, both of which have immunities to Ghost-type moves during Generation I."

Night Shade is the ONLY other damage dealing ghost attack in gen 1

Meaning, Psychics are immune to lick? An attack with a 30 power?

So, Psychic types in gen 1 are immune to lick? That's not really an issue

So I went to GameStop & Toys "R" US today for Pokémon Day. At GameStop, I bought a Chespin plush (one of my most fave starters) and a 20th anniversary poster. At Toys "R" Us, got some posters, Pikachu & Magikarp trading cards, a Pokémon activity book, and a paper Jibanyan hat (lol).

Now to enjoy some Red Version.

While we're grasping at straws here, I started looking through a list of fish in Hawaii and noticed this partway through glancing it over.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opah

These are referred to as both Moonfish and Sunfish (although not the same sort of Sunfish as the ones we usually think of).

I'll be looking for other fish, but for now go knock yourselves out. :p

Also I saw a looooot of Butterflyfish on the way to this point. Finneon line is even more of a shoo-in than the tropical environment indicates already.

Blegh, could have sworn Shadow Ball was Gen I...Regardless, psychic types are godawfully unbalanced in Gen I

It really should have too. It's already been said, but Night Shade and Lick were the only attacking Ghost-type moves then. One of which depends solely on your level, the other is near useless. That's crap variety. Of course, that's not the only thing that lacked variety back then, like how many Ghost-type Pokémon there were at all.

Yooooooo check it out, Hawaii has an Endemic version of the Cleaner Wrasse. It even looks prettier than the more well known Bluestreak Cleaner Wrasse.

upload_2016-2-27_15-19-39.png

I gotta hand it to Hawaii, if there's one thing it's going to offer ample opportunity for, it's interesting Water types.

Too bad so many people hate Water types for dominating the type spread, because if they listen to those people this time they're going to be throwing away a ton of cool opportunities to take advantage of the local wildlife.

If it's Hawaii, the evil team better have a new mongoose Pokemon, or at the very least a Zangoose or two.

There are a heck of a lot of creatures found water so I personally don't mind having more water types....I'd actually like to see more Deep-sea inspired Pokemon actually...like the Viperfish or the Chimera/Ratfish or Vampire Squid...

You know what else we need, more Beetles...did you know the majority of known animal species are beetles? And pokemon has what two? Heracross and Ledian, non other come to mind atm...though only a couple more will do, don't want a new generation full of beetles, actually it could make for a neat Grass starter if you think about it...we have no insectoid starters yet...

I don't understand why Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow can post screenshots on Miiverse but the Gen 6 titles (and Trading Card Game for some reason) can't.

Anyway, looking at the posted screenshot section on Miiverse, here are the 3 most common screenshots.
  • Starting their journey
  • The "I like shorts!" Youngster
  • Showing off that they caught/fought Mew

Surprisingly no Missingno. screenshots though...

"Heracross and Ledian."
How can you include :166: & :214: but not the original beetle :127:.
Seriously though a bug/ground dung beetle is something that seems fairly obvious, for example...
Edit: BUG/ICE SNOWBALL ROLLING DUNG BEETLE!

Double Edit: I forgot about escavalier...

I used to collect lots of Pokemon toys, I bought Pokemon food, went to Pokemon Centers, played the games, when I was in Japan. I was a huge nut on Pokemon investing in every ability, move, Pokemon, cry, type, etc.

Even though I moved on to Yo-kai Watch and I'm unable to retain all of the information I used to have due to moving on from the franchise, I will thank Pokemon for getting me invested in video games in the first place. I'm glad my mom and dad bought me Pokemon Pinball Advance and letting me delve in the 3rd Generation.

So happy anniversary.

I'm thinking.
They need at least a new hamster Pokemon.
And a land shark.
Dark and ground land shark similar to garchomp or just mega garchomp.

a single stage psudeo legend fairy and dark rabbit.

You know you want it!

Well there's also Pinsir.

I think the problem is that Bug is the OTHER type everyone hates other than Water. They both hold most of the cool ideas, but are both walled off by angry fans who are essentially the "muh representation" guys from this fandom only for types.

Water and Bug are to Pokémon as Fire Emblem and Kid Icarus are to Smash. Except the divide between how many notable animals/characters are available in each type to how many are there of the types/franchises the "muh representation" people want is even more drastic in Pokémon than it is in Smash, to an almost absurd degree.

If we get another beetle, though, I think I'd like to see a Boll Weevil, just for the unique look and that little IRL lore behind it. Some hilarious interaction with Whimsicott would be a glorious plus, though.

We got a woodpecker.
Let's see if we can also get a hummingbird.

Edit: Or a beetle...
That's my favorite starter in Sage! It's what I choose in the demo! I'm glad it's still being worked on and can't wait for more!

Pinsir just flat-out escaped me...Heracross is one of my favpurite pokemon then I thought of ladybugs which is why I remembered them....Escavalier I guess cpunts as a beetle tho both it and Accelgor have always been somewhat forgettable to me....

I want a Weta inspired bug/ice type...

I actually thought of a neat idea of a water/fighting Samoan Shark Warrior...I actually want some kind of fighting type inspired by the various Samoan tribes of the Pacific...I actually want a pokemon that does the Haka XD...

All this Pokemon talk reminded me of most of the critters I've forgotten. I guess after having hundreds of them it's not surprising, but it's still surprising just how many I can remember and the larger number amount that I don't recall. Especially with the fourth and fifth gen.

Not before we make Venustoise canon. Fusion needs to be a thing in Pokemon after we already got Mega Evolutions.

:4charizard: You both got out and you're fused again? Why? Fusion is just a cheap tactic to make weak Pokemon stronger. I've seen what you really are, quit embarrassing yourself!

Dear Game Freak, give me a REAL Kangaroo Pokemon other than Kangaskhan.

Sincerely, an Australian fan.

You know, this can also be used as an allegory for Mega Evolutions and how some competitive fans think they break the meta of the game (Fawful's Minion for example).

Fawful's Minion is a lying scrub though. He said he didn't take damage in Shovel Knight until King Knight, yet his achievement list proved him wrong. Also, Kyurem had fusion

You know, I think fusion could be an interesting concept that can be revised in the future. Like Anuga said, we already have Kyrurem so far if only because he's a legendary. What if non-Legendary Pokemon had the option of fusion?

We do know from the anime that Shelder biting a Slowpoke's tail with King's Rock makes him Slower (Or the other way around with the head for Slowing). That would be a possibility interesting idea to start with in the games. Venastoise is another popular option, though that can only be possible f you trade another starter with someone online. One Fusion idea I would be interested in is Venemoth with Butterfree if only because it would give it a great range of stats and a pure Bug/Poison typing (Venefree).

I'm not surprised Jynx got edited in Yellow (not in Japan due Japanese Yellow isn't Color enhanced). After all, Jynx was modified in the Virtual Console releases of Snap & Trading Card game too

The Cutting Room Floor Wiki made a list of Virtual Console changes (Yellow exclusive changes will be colored):
  • Jynx edited to modern design (not in Japan edition)
  • The Game Boy Printer features are functionless for obvious reasons
  • The animations of the folowing moves were edited to avoid seizures: Blizzard, BubbleBeam, Confusion, Dream Eater, Explosion, Guillotine, Hyper Beam, Mega Kick, Mega Punch, Psychic, Reflect, Rock Slide, Selfdestruct, Spore, & Thunderbolt
  • Pikachu's Beach minigame accessible with starter Pikachu (but the surfing tips posters still require a Pikachu knowing Surf)
  • The text "The link has been closed because of inactivity. Please contact your friend and come again!" is changed to "Please come again!" for the Link Cable area.

I don't want to sound rude, but for some reason you just reminded me of that one Fiary Odd Parents episode (Most Wanted Wish) in which Timmy gets rejected for a Rock and then wishes to be the most wanted.

Ahhh the good old days when i actually enjoyed the Fairy Odd Parents.
