I mean.
Gen 1-5 had some kind of reptile for a grass type.
Then we got Chespin.
So it wouldn't UNHEARD OF.
But the "Traditions were"
Grass: Lizards
Fire: Chinese Zodiac
Water: Inhabits both land and water (turtle, croc/gator, axotl, penguin, otter, frog)

In my mock up starters I at least kept the fire and water traditions >>;

What parts in particular? For me it was the story failing to live up to potential and COMPLETELY missing the point of a rival character.

Team Flare didn't have the misguided fervour of Plasma, the drive of Magma and Aqua and kept flip flopping between Rocket's we just want the money and Galactic's kill everyone who isn't us plans.

And your opposite gender counterpart isn't a jerk getting what's coming to them when they lose or a friend who ants to gauge how strong you are, they've got the exact same goal as you but will never ever get close as their status as an NPC means they will always loose to you and you start to feel bad for them.

Well this just coming from my head.
1. It's removing and replacing the cries with new ones, as each cry helped me identify each Pokemon very easily.
2. the villains are predictable.
It's mostly the small details that ticked me off, I'm not sure what in particular, maybe its art style and the way it controls is awkward.

Well, the Sun was a god in the Roman/Greek religion. Called Sol/Helios.

Other than that, nothing.

As mentioned before, Italy has strong ties to the sun and moon, especially with its history with astronomy. Greece could also be argued, as before Artemis (as Diana) and Apollo took over the roles, Selene and Helios were Moon and Sun gods that had a place in their mythology, though it wasn't as important as the main 12 Gods or Hades.

Outside of Europe, there are a couple of other countries that have ties to the Sun and Moon, Japan in particular comes to mind with Amaterasu and Susanno, who have a very important place in Shinto Religion.

X & Y really took a big step backwards with some of the old conventions that Black & White had been improving on, Team Flare is easily the most forgettable of all the villain teams and I just didn't care for any of my "rivals". I'd like to see them do something different with a new game, maybe scrapping the whole idea of an enemy team and make a new kind of villain(s), just something that really shakes things up. Similarly something new has to be done with the rival, every rival since Ruby and Sapphire has been a friend and only Cheren stuck even remotely out of those, I'd like to see a rival with a new personality, a new story and who follows a path that we haven't seen before.

One of the reasons I really loved Black and White was because it did a lot of new things, I particularly liked how the game ended when you got the legendary and dismantled Team Plasma instead of ending when you beat the Champion, it just fit the narrative better and made the game peak right at the end, we need something like that again.

Well it's definitely going to be 3 years by the time this new one comes out. Black and White came September of 2010, X and Y came out October of 2013, and this will likely be end of 2016 at the earliest. I guess the gaps are getting shorter in general.
