That is true, however she's probably the easiest character to negotiate in the game that isn't Lucina, who's already playable, and Chrom, who's an NPC.

It wouldn't be hard for Sakurai to negotiate for another Namco or Capcom or SEGA character either considering what he said in the Nintendo Dream interview.

That being said, now that Smash has grown into a well-known franchise, the creators recognize the merits of allowing us to use their characters, so negotiations have tended to go rather smoothly.

Well Snake was still in the game and that's not exactly a crossover. Plus MGS2 had multiple covers.

Calling it her game means she's the main star and focus. And truth be told she's not.

Chrom isn't an NPC, Lucina and Chrom are a Pair Unit (similar to Ryu/Ken, X/Zero, Jin/Kazuya, etc).

Shadow Mewtwo uses a very physically-oriented gameplay style with psychic "extentions" to his attacks to give him more reach alongside energy blades to really make him feel like a strike build Freiza in Xenoverse.

We haven't had any video footage of Mewtwo but the sceenshots show a far more zone-heavy mindset. Maybe that's me extraplolating but they're not that similar from what we've been given.
