Returning to the conversation I left.

I've been a big Sonic fan from before I even played a Sonic game, thanks to Sonic SatAM, and I'd like to think I'm a decent Sonic fan

Probably because I am not involved with the Sonic community

Has anyone caught a Scorpion yet.

They're giving me more trouble than the char.
OMG... yes!!!! I got the tarantula with no effort... it was even my first time seeing a tarantula... and I managed to catch a bee after several tries for a month... but the scorpion... grrr.... I do not want to wait till next summer for scorpions to show up again. It keeps moving around so fast and attacking me... and I spend hours wandering around St. Olaf (I named my town after Rose Nylund's hometown) and see zero scorpions the whole night.

When I'm not being stung, the scorpion basically ignores me and wanders away, and FREAKING DISAPPEARS RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES? JUST VANISHES INTO THIN AIR. It's bull****.

It will ignore you if you don't have a net out. But if you DO and he's walking away, that's kind of weird

Hmmm. I've always wondered what people think constitutes a fan. I dunno why, but I don't really feel connected to something unless I get really involved in it.

Like, I was quite active in the Animal Crossing community for years. I played every game from the Gamecube up avidly and became a respected user on one forum. Until I left.

I just don't call something a candidate for a favorite until I grow an emotional attachment.

If an emotional attatchment constitutes fandom, I would only be a fan of Sims and Pokemon then.

I mean, I like Smash, but.. not like I love my Pokemon or Sims families.

I personally have grown an emotional attachment to the Lion King. I watched it, and the Land Before Time many times when I was young, but then I stopped, I forgot most of the movie and remebered nothing from the Lion King II: Simba's Pride.

And then, I watched it for the first time in years on my birthday in a theater for the 3D re-release.

I forgot how much I loved that movie. It was amazing, it began cranking the gears that operated the childhood section in my memory. I became a huge LK nerd and started doing research on nearly everything LK related, comics, audio tapes, old and unused concepts, and more. I'm still a mega LK fan. That movie is awesome. All arguments towards it being a bad movie are invalid.

Game-wise, I've never grown an emotional attachment to any video games, except maybe Pikmin.

For me, Kirby, Animal Crossing, and Super Smash Brothers. If you wanted to get bigger, Nintendo in general. As much as I love other things, Nintendo outshines all of them.

Oh, and when I was really young, Pokemon was huge with me. But as I grew up, I just couldn't keep up with the changes. The last game I bought and played up to the Elite 4 was vanilla White version.

I think pokemon is one of the best games created in getting an emotional attachment to a non-character

You know how many people actually have an emotional attachment to their starter?

Heck yes. I'm close to two of my Pokemon in Pearl. My starter, Piplup, (Empoleon now) and my Luxray. (formerly a very weak Shinx)

People seem to grow attached to their partners in Mystery Dungeon too.

Anyone want an early MNU? I could post it now, since I've nothing better to do.

On Scorpions;
Never seen one. Not joking. I have. However, come across two tarantulas that bit me. -_-
I don't even know how, one second they are off in derpland, then right when I take out my net and aim, they bite.

I have buddies I've owned since like 08. THEY WILL NEVER BE DELETED BECAUSE I LOVE THEM. It's alot of work to naturally get a Pokemon to level 100. And I have quite a few. I grind for fun, and I ALWAYS name my Pokes.

I still have and transfer/use my original Dragonite from Fire Red. She has 14 ribbons including the Gorgeous Royal one.

I also name all of my Pokes, do convoluted trade sequences on the GTS (not even joking, I actually had the same person express his gratitude by tracking me down and giving a shiny Zubat/Furret the other day. All over GTS, no contact save for 'mons holding "Thanks Mail") and frequently do Nuzlocke runs.

I'd do a Nuzlocke run if I didn't freak out for two hours after my starter dies.

I still have my original team from 1996 on my Blue Version that I played yesterday. That Blastoise, Charizard, Parisect, Mewtwo, Raichu, Raticate, Beedrill, Butterfree, Gyarados, Starmie, Eevee evolutions, the 3 Legendary Birds, the legit Mew (through illegitimate hacking), :awesome: the Nidoking, the Dragonite... man... there is so much nostalgia there. I have battled friends and foes since 1998 with that team, which was 15 years ago.

Also, I still got my Yellow, Crystal, Ruby, Fire Red, and Soul Silver teams, which are the only other teams I really have that I'll never forget or get ride of. I guess you could add my Black team to that too, although I really only feel a "connection" with at most 4 of them, but at least 2 of them, for different reasons.

But the game I have the most emotional attachment is Melee, because of all the great memories, times, moments, smash brothers and sisters, and friends I have had/made/spent with through that game, and will continue to do so. That and just the pure unadulterated fun that game presents is why Super Smash Brothers Melee will always be the greatest game of all-time in my book, and why I will likely say that until the day I die.

I got really lucky with a scorpion. I came out of my house one night and it was right in front of me. Then it was even nice enough to turn around. Pulled out my net and caught it easily. First one I saw too. Haven't seen once since though.

I own my original Blue along with my level 100 Blastoise. I also have a level 100 Feraligater in Silvr. I usually pick a trope in naming my pokemon. For the longest time, I named all my Pokemon Mega Man-esque names. I named my Tyranitar "Dark Man" until I realized it was a girl. I had Blaziken in Sapphire. I picked Torterra in Diamond. In Black, I named them after superheroes. My Samurott is probably my favorite of the newer generations. My starter is always in my line up.

I've woken up with scorpions next to my pillow before. Living in the desert sucks.

More on Pokemon things, I actually lost every cartridge-based game before Gen IV, which sucks since I only transferred a small percent of my "keepers," which included both in-game teams and shinies. Despite that I still have saved "copies" of my teams in games like Pokemon Stadium 1/2 and Colosseum. While it sucks not actually having them anymore, at least I have some way of remembering them.

Off the top of my head, probably have the most attachment (aside from obviously starters) to Sneasels/Weaviles, and maybe Zubats. Have and raise 'em each game, and legitimately liked them since Gen II.

Man, Blaster my Blastoise... the feels man, the feels.

I get the same feels whenever I boot up Super Mario Bros. 3, too, just like when I played it with my dad and grandfather as a small child.

But man, nothing has feels like Melee does; nothing probably ever will. That game has so many feels, and man, I cannot express all of them, because unlike Pokémon or Super Mario Bros. 3, there are too many to count, and all such memories are so, so, so great to have. And man, that is what made that Evo "One More Year!" chant so special; those people, my smash brothers, know how beautiful this game is, and it means to all of them what it means to me: friends, family, fun, freedom, a fresh start, the future, and most importantly, your own crew of smash brothers.

That is why that moment was something of a spiritual moment for me just to watch even on a live stream, and why that moment nearly brought me to tears of joy the way few, if any things have done. And each and every person who was there and has put that much into that game has those same feelings, but in different ways. I bet that moment was all the more greater live there in that crowd of thousands watching a dozen year old game...

GG Melee, GG. Now, let's go a couple more rounds for new times' sake, and let's see what the better 12 years ahead of us bring to us, eh=???

I brought up pokes from emerald, pearl, and heartgold to black, bred them, and released them (except for legendaries), because while those teams were awesome, I also want to make new memories with new pokes

But I'll still remember my hg team of

typhlosion, togekiss, mamoswine, snorlax, quagsire, and ampheros (also used butteefree on that team)

I can't remember my pearl team or emerald team though

my black team was surperior, galvantula, unfeasant, carracosta, farfetch'd, and mightyena

I wish veterans were getting reveal videos, but I doubt they are.

When is the next Nintendo Direct btw? I feel like someone has mentioned and I just forgot. (AGAIN.)
