I agree with Rich that people shouldn't really take those negative comments about their favorite companies to heart. However, I disagree with the fact that people should have no emotions toward their favorite company/franchise. I grew up with all Nintendo's games. From Mario to Zelda to DK country to Metroid, even my competitive game is Nintendo's Smash series. I'm thankful that I grew up playing Nintendo's epic games instead of growing up playing Call of Duty and other games that won't make you look back at your childhood and cherish its creative gaming memories. I am a Nintendo fan and certainly do like the company, but I shouldn't let that hurt me when Nintendo is insulted by other people. It's their opinion and they're free to express it.

I'm not hurt by such things either. While people have the freedom to express their opinion, you have to admit that when someone is absolutely angry at people just for liking a company's games is when they take things to far. I've seen COD/gunning game players on Youtube videos relating to Nintendo that go on rants and even rage about their hate towards the game, rather than simply stating they don't like it.

I also don't like it when they try to convince Nintendo fans to play COD by calling Nintendo childish. (those who actually would ever say that clearly don't know of Nintendo's past)

Honestly though, I do feel bad when any company in the gaming industry goes down, because I have an attachment to them due to their games, as well as the possibility that people will lose their jobs (which I only wish upon criminals and people screwing over society, which game designers are by and large not those kind of people).

I felt bad for the Microsoft Xbox division employees and as Xbox 360 owner when the Xbox One came out with DRM and always-on online requirements, just because I want them to do well and for those people to keep their jobs. I would feel the same way with Sony and Nintendo if something similar happened. Because quite frankly, when there are more good companies and more good games made, the standards go up, along with the solid choices we have to choose between amongst games.

However, just because one company is doing bad doesn't mean it effects my self-esteem (whatever that vague and stupid not psychologically-based concept is), or (more accurately,) my self image. After all, they're just video games. They don't define me as a person. They're a form of entertainment, social bonding, skill building, information, experience, and certain life lessons, but they don't define me. I define who I am based on my thoughts, words, and actions.

You have no idea how much my little brother suffered because of this. He's a 9 year old boy who initially grew up with Nintendo. You should have seen how much he loved Mario 64, he played it hours upon hours upon hours. Now that his friend have talked him into CoD. I feel sorry for him now... Entering a room with a bunch of 9 year old playing CoD screaming words like Yolo and saying horrific words like "You D!ck" or "That's BS". My kid brother still plays Brawl from time to time, but his friends got the best of him.

I just wish 3D platformers in general weren't dying out (other than the off Mario game), more specifically, free-roaming, collectathon, etc. platformers, like Banjo.

I've come to terms with the fact that Banjo is dead, Tooie will still be my favorite game ever unless some miracle game ends up topping it.
