You haven't seen that before=???Anyway, watched this for the first time. HOLY CRAP!!! COMEBACK!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qna80MbcAAc
That video in a nutshell: "woooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAHHHH"You haven't seen that before=???
That might be one of the best matches ever.
Here's another one, except this one has probably the best combo I have ever seen in smash bros. in my life...
If I was there, I would have ran around that building screaming crazy batcrap. Ain't no way after the third knee I don't lose my mind; after the 4th knee, I'd be like a headless chicken; and after the 5th knee, sweet mother of Kentucky Fried Chicken in the middle of spring I would have gone so bat crap crazy I might turn into a bat... man. That video in a nutshell: "woooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAHHHH"
This is a lie; it is a QUINTUPLE KNEE!!!QUADRUPLE KNEE
Let everyone die then!Wow. Anyone on my team's death in Fire Emblem makes me really, really sad.
Anything with that gameplay would be nice in a new puzzle game; but still, those Pokémon Puzzle League Pokémon sound clips were priceless. After all, when you're hot, you're hot... right!?!?!? "HYPPNNOOOHHHHHH!!!!"Why is everyone relating the Puzzle League series to Pokemon? Maybe I should of said Panel de Pon instead.
Wai no playing the field=???
Srsly, Poppy, Triple Dash, and/or Star would be great for you.
One thing I just realized...
What if the whole EVO thing was a publicity stunt by Nintendo?
Wasn't NES a Mega Man fan=??? I'm pretty sure I remember him telling me he was. If he was, I bet that announcement made him happy. That got me to watching a combo video:
My other favorite Falcon of all time, right there with Darkrain and Hax$---the late NESn00b (Ryan Roberts), the progenitor of the infamous "mountain combo" on Pokemon Stadium. He was the one that kinda spurred me into the competitive scene when I was living in Georgia. He traveled all the way from where he lived in Mississippi just to drag me to a smashfest out in Alabama somewhere. That's how I met the likes of Pikachad, Iori, HyperDragon, IHSB, KOkingpin, Jmoan...some of Midsouth's finest, all through him. He was nothing but smiles and energy; I swear to God nothing dragged that kid and his enthusiasm down. It was infectious, too; you couldn't help but laugh at some of his goofy antics. One of my favorite rants of his was when he'd combo you with Falcon, hollering that YOU CAN'T ESCAPE FALCON COMBOS with every consecutive u-air he landed, and then he told you about he was going to end the combo with a knee...only to find out that there was only a 50/50 chance, and you'd end up getting u-aired again. lol
He died coming back from a Smash tourney one year, a victim of a car accident. It's just...I dunno. It's a damn shame, and I can't help but think about it whenever I see Falcon play. He was a good kid. Hell, I still have the GC controller that he gave me, the one I use to play Smash with. And I will never be rid of it, even if it gets broken down from wear and tear. It's how I remember him.
So, yeah. If you're wondering why I'm still on this website after all these years, despite my *** being old, there you have it. One of the more profound reasons.

Damn it, guys, you're making me cry.Wasn't NES a Mega Man fan=??? I'm pretty sure I remember him telling me he was. If he was, I bet that announcement made him happy.
But yeah, I watched that Mountain Combo early into my competitive endeavors when he showed me some of his stuff. It made me want to try all kinds of crazy combos, which had a profound influence on my style of play in each smash game.
Ever since then, I tried combos off of things like Hyrule Castle's walls, the buildings and floors on Onett (I've done a 0 to death combo on Onett starting with a Falcon Punch and finishing another Falcon Punches), the way he used moving stages like Mute City and Rainbow Cruise (my 2 favorite Melee stages), and all that were great. I used to IM him about every week until... well... you know.
That innovating crazy yet refined style defines my very style of play (and why I couldn't conform to Brawl's campy gameplay and enjoy it), along with the ideas he told me about. "Play with the stage, not on it," is a stupid simple line he once told me, but my goodness was it smart; I still tell new smashers that all the time, and it changes your perspective on stages, and boy does it make you play better.
Every time I see the cover of Twilight Princess I smile, because that was his avatar, without even thinking about that game.
When that sad news came out about what happened to him, I couldn't really deal with it or post on it because I didn't know one to say. So one day just blurted out a tribute to him, and that line was it just had to say something, and that's where I invented a particularly memorable line: "-A Friend First and a Smasher Second-". I'll always use it, because I feel it summarizes what smashers should be first, last, and always.
But yes, NES n00b is why I use Falcon (red Falcon, no less), why I play Falcon entirely, and why I always use that line from now on to the end to describe me. His playstyle inspired me so much from my chats with him that I just chose (even before he passed) to just never give up that relentless forward moving style that doesn't rely on camping, stalling, or waiting; I wanna put on fireworks by using everything in my disposal, including the stage (which, again, is such a hugely underrated strategy and aspect of the game).
Edit: Didn't they name a Southern tournament series in his honor=???
God knows he enjoyed that reveal like I did, hopefully with less screaming though!!! That was like a lifetime dream for me come true, and I sure it was for him! We'll have to play him a round of Smash WiiU or 3DS when we get up in the palace in the sky, and do some Mega Man dittos on Wily's Castle!Yeah, Ryan was a pretty big Mega Man fan.
Just looking back at the people he beat, and my God, that's a murderer's row of some of the best Midwest and East Coast players today or any day. I mean, guys like Kels and PP are top dogs today; he would have undoubtedly been up there, because his passion for Melee was second to none. I still remember Dylan_Tnga one day bowing to NES n00b as the guy who more passionately loved Melee; TNGA! That dude was nuts crazy over smash, and he bowed out to NES!!! (BTW, that dude needs to come back with a "Brawl might actually suck Pt. II" thread)Him and I talked shop about Smash a little bit, both in person and online. Sadly, I never got to see him in person all that much thanks to us living in separate states, but we maintained a decent rapport. When we did play, he'd always poke fun at me for missing my grabs (saying I need to slap him more), and then he'd laugh (not spitefully) when I would try and tech-chase him (as Sheik, in both cases). It wasn't a profound thing like playing the stage, but I quickly realized that unsafe stuff =/=grab opportunities, especially against Falcon or a Space Animal. Haha. He was an extremely smart player underneath of that bubbly exterior. Before he passed away, he was placing really well at tourneys. A lot of people on the forums were saying that he was an up and coming Falcon. It's a damn shame we can't see him kick *** in present day tourneys; I would have loved to see the likes of M2K or PP get bodied by Ryan's zany *** Falcon.
Yeah, he was so generous with his knowledge to me. It was like a fountain pouring into an empty river with me and the stuff we chatted about in regards to smash. I know that I'm not anywhere near the best smasher, but thanks to the stuff he taught me, told me about, and informed me of, I can talk, be aware of, and point out everything in a match, and almost everything all players are doing right and wrong. Most importantly, though, it's a damn shame that we lost such a kind, generous soul.
Yeah, with other boards and sites, it feels so impersonal. Here, it feels not totally fixated in reality like say Facebook, but it feels somewhat real at the same time.Amen to your sentiment on friendship here on the boards, John. Like I said, Ryan is one of the big reasons why I come back here again and again. I really do love this community and the people in it, even if they're just casual players or forumgoers (even both). There really is some wiggy *** voodoo within these boards that promotes such a wonderful culture of peers.
They held it at ROM=??? Dang, that's a big deal. Then again, so was NES.Edit: Yeah, they did. They also held a moment of honor for him and GA's own Falcon, Eugenio, at a RoM.

Sorry, Monk.Damn it, guys, you're making me cry.
He's definitely gonna be in my circle of characters I use. I'll probably still main Toon Link (hopefully his "awesomeness" from Brawl remains, but in a more Melee-esk environment), and pull out all my past favorites as well (Fox, Mario, Ness, Lucas, and of course Blood Falcon).Hell yeah to the Mega Man dittos, John. I planned on making the Blue Bomber my main man for this next installment, or at the very least one of the first characters I play a lot with.
Anyone who has been around the REAL competitive scene and the real competitive players knows this. We are all just a band of brothers, whose player heroes are our friends who call us friends, our joy is a game where we come together and celebrate both sides and celebrate for both winners of a match (that's right, Sakurai was right; both players can win, even when one is in defeat), and where any match can be the greatest match with the right crowd. And to anybody that says the competitive side of this community---be it 64, Melee, or Brawl---is without a soul, I hope John and I's mutually shared experience dispels that horribly inaccurate notion. These are people too, dammit, with hope and dreams and all of that, bound together by their love of a video game and community. They're not just mindless drones competing for cold cash.
Well that's because you're looking at it wrong. I look at life as if I'm collecting moments in time; some of those moments I collected were moments involving NES n00b. Those moments are like my lungs; you can't take them away from me. They are mine forever. Unlike my lungs though, I can share them (without dying!).Damn it, guys, you're making me cry.
Sorry, I can't.Ignore this post
Why thank you good sir, but it's all from the heart! As funny as I can be, it is because I'm smart enough to know what buttons to push. Hence why when I'm tired (like earlier today) I seem way off! That intelligence comes from all kinds of real life experience of me going from what I thought was a haven to hell to a more real haven.@Johnknight1 you sir are a wordsmith
Yep. Apparently man on man action fanfic is the thing of the hour, and the guys (and the one girl that is actually a man, so long as she browses the internet) are loving it!Wait, what? I'm busy playing Brawl with KoP, MonK, and Fastblade, and this happens while I'm gone?

"It's like a bromance, you gotta take off your pants, and just do a duck faced dance, with an outdated prance." - DJ Cool Cool John Bomb
NES was reserved, except he wasn't. He was a trickster in that way, and his mind was full of all kinds of genius ideas. I mean, back in the day, he beat the likes of guys like Kels, Dr. PP, and all kinds of people who now are kings of the Melee world (heck, I think he beat a few top now Brawl players, too). He was literally a genius mind (especially in regard to smash), and IM'd him, PM'd him, and quoted/spoke to him on these forums literally several times a week. It's such a privilege to have been able to do so, and I'm a better smasher and more importantly a better person because of it.John, you have filled your masterminded, loving-of-chaos, bomb-toting rival (AKA me) full of feels. From these few posts alone, I wish I could've met NES. I am full of feelings that make me appreciate my family even more than I already did, and I have similar items that help me remember the deceased, mostly consisting of pictures. Just... Oh my gosh, John... I'm full of feels, and I can't stop them.
Back when I was in Middle School everyone on the soccer team had a nickname but me. The one they came up with was "John the Bomb," which sucked... hence why I stick onto my usernames quite tightly. Johnknight1 (bestowed upon by a forgotten friend), faceurhell (a joke on emo people), and Fruits (for my love of Fruits!).GET THE BOLDED OFF OF THERE RIGHT NOW. WHAT KIND OF CHEAP STUNT DID YOU JUST PULL WITH THE BOLD?
Heck, I never even met him in person; he lived in the South; I live in California! Smooth Criminal actually knew him. But hey, at least I got to Falcon Punch Mango!
Because Poppy, you and Golden have matching opposite personalities; opposites attract. Golden is a boisterous; you are crafty, while Star is outspoken, and Triple Dash is... well... "waiting..."But seriously, John. How did you come to this conclusion?
Well I'll tell you what; if I ever find myself in or living in the area in the near or distant future, I'll have to reach you so we can have a throwdown and a showdown.Heck, man, I could've if I was able to go to Georgia. I live practically right above it in Eastern Tennessee.
I don't think it sucks. Not a great nickname, but it doesn't suck.Back when I was in Middle School everyone on the soccer team had a nickname but me. The one they came up with was "John the Bomb," which sucked...

You dislike Brawl, so we'd probably play Melee or Smash 4. Look at your Melee main. Now look at mine. Who's going to win a Melee match, I wonder?
Which one=??? There were 5 of them in a row, a few in the beginning, and one epic one at the end.I never get tired of seeing that video.
Dat Knee.
"John the Bomb" sucks dude. It's a fact. "Johnknight," on the other hand, is an incredible username and nickname.I don't think it sucks. Not a great nickname, but it doesn't suck.
Unless you can play competitively, I could beat you with most the roster. I know in Project M I have beaten my brother with just about all of the 33 playable characters in Project M.You dislike Brawl, so we'd probably play Melee or Smash 4. Look at your Melee main. Now look at mine. Who's going to win a Melee match, I wonder?
I could beat Poppy as Pichu. Aside from Pichu's obvious lack of weight which makes it super easy to kill, Pichu is a very easy character to use.Well, since real men mained Pichu, I think John has his work cut out for him.
Thank you. I shall keep all this in mind ^^.You don't need to be "good enough" to experience the magic that makes this community so wonderful, Jedi. Trust me on this. You'll feel it right in your bones the moment you start going to Smashfests (colloquial term for competitive Smasher get-togethers that sometimes involve lots of, well, Smash). It's about everybody getting better at the game, even marginally, and having a good time while doing it.
I know you're pretty young yet (let's face it, concerned parents are a biiig and quite understandable hurdle), but you can start now. Introduce yourself on the sub-forums of your region. Go to the character specific social threads or whatever, hit up people there! Read up on your favorite character's advanced tactics for competitive play, and hit the lab and practice! Hell, pick a character you don't like and practice with them. I can go on and on about this, man, and I'd probably crop this damn text box with paragraph after paragraph listing all of the little things that would spur your interest onward.
Yes, you're gonna meet people that suck. You're gonna meet people that rub you the wrong way at first. Believe me, though, the good in this community outweighs the bad.
