It is probably rated T for violence, I mean you essentially immolate characters representing humans, bludgeon them with hammers, eviscerate them... need I go on? You can even be run over by a car.

No ****ing way. Rool's chances are sadly rather slim imho, the only hope I have is that he will actually be the stealth secret final boss of Tropical Freeze. That, or no K. Rool this time around I fear.

I don't know about that.
Sakurai is definitely going for uniqueness this time around, so Dixie Kong doesn't fit that bill half as much as K. Rool does.
And a DK rep is inevitable imo.
Don't even tell me Cranky Kong either.

Am I the only one who thinks that, regardless of whether or not K.Rool is in Tropical Freeze, that K.Rool's chances for the DK newcomer are still the strongest? He's the main villain, one of the only two huge Nintendo villain icons not included in this series yet, K.Rool deserves the roster spot.

Sure he deserves it, but he's been more or less written out of the DK mythos.
People are stupid about Tropical Freeze. "K. Rool has no chance unless he's the final boss of Tropical Freeze...but if he's the final boss, he's got a great chance because people want him and he's unique." People already want him and he's already unique. It all comes down to Sakurai's preferences at this point.

Sakurai's meaning of uniqueness is extremely vague and malleable.
Also, there's no way we're getting K. Rool, but not Dixie. That much is obvious. Dixie has a lot more going on compared to him.
@Hotfeet (LOL): I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a spot. You know who else deserves a spot? Little Mac. Three games and no invitation yet. Do you know who DOESN'T deserve a spot? Pichu, Dr. Mario, Young Link, even Toon Link imho. They're in, or they were. So... Yeah.

This is sorta the reason though why I don't think K.Rool would be released in a February direct. If he's somehow in Tropical Freeze, then revealing him would spoil it. It's like how Sakurai held off on revealing Lucario, or any Pokemon rep, for X and Y's release.

Er...no he hasn't. He was in almost every DK adventure until Retro Studios did their own games with adding in new characters, like they did in Metroid Prime.

Not only that, she's a playable character in the latest Donkey Kong game, and surely the third most recognizable character after DK and Diddy. This only puts her in a much stronger position than K. Rool. You should realize that only hardcore Nintendo fan know him / like him. I think that maybe 40% of Tropical Freeze buyers will actually know who K. Rool is.

I mean, I don't think that Dixie is the 3rd most recognizable. Many would look at her and compare her to Diddy since they look so similar.
K. Rool is an iconic villain no matter what way you look at it.
And of course...
Rosalina is CERTAINLY not the 5th most recognizable Mario character.
Toad should have been playable games ago if we're going off of recognizability. Characters being in new games doesn't make them inherently better Smash Bros. fighters. We get retro characters because characters in new games aren't the only ones who can be great Smash Bros. fighters.

I don't know about most recognizable, especially since K.Rool always plays a huge role when he appears in a game. I don't think one new title is enough to knock K.Rool off the third most imporant spot. We have the main hero, the main sidekick, and the main villain, sounds like solid representation to me. Besides, K.Rool has something Dixie doesn't, and that's incredible amounts of uniqueness, and this time around uniqueness is king when selecting newcomers.

Rosalina is receiving a push, simple as that. Nintendo wants her to become one of the most recognizable Mario characters. And I guess she actually probably is in newer generations. Think about little kids who played Galaxy games as their first Mario games. They surely consider Rosalina much more than we do.
I'm not saying K. Rool isn't recognizable. I'm saying he's a lot less recognizable than Dixie. Once Dixie is in the game, we can start talking about K. Rool's inclusion as well. But no way he's jumping over her.

A bit of a guilty pleasure, but him from the cartoon is arguably my favorite incarnation of K. Rool. Either that one, or the one from DK64.

Jumping over her? That's amusing when you consider that Dixie was treated as a nonentity until Tropical Freeze's reveal, upon which she's suddenly the obvious most important DK character ever and a shoo-in because...because...
