If that's the price to pay to get Nintendo to realize some of their mistakes, then so be it =/Hope the Wii U lasts more than a couple years.
Let me first talk about redefining the concept of a video game platform.
This medium-term goal is not expected to come to full fruition within the timeframe of this current calendar year. However, I feel that this is going to play an extremely crucial role in deciding whether dedicated video game platforms can adjust to rapid environmental changes in today’s market and can develop as a sound business.
The traditional definition of a video game platform was closely related to some kind of hardware and it would be no exaggeration to say that platforms were equivalent in meaning to physical devices.
As we continue to redefine our platforms from a device-based system to an account-based system using NNIDs, we will also try to change the way in which dedicated video game systems as well as software are sold that people have come to take for granted.
Also, we are planning to utilize Nintendo’s abundance of character IP more actively. I think the reason that Nintendo is now considered to have this “abundance of character IP” is perhaps because of our passive approach toward the character IP licensing business, which tends to have a high risk of damaging the value of the character. In other words, we think that spending time to develop our approach of having our characters appear mainly in our carefully selected games has created our current fortunate circumstances. However, we are going to change our policy going forward.
I would like to tell you about something different from our traditional business.
We will definitely maintain dedicated video game platforms as our core business, bu twe will also take on the challenge of expanding into a new business area.
We will attempt to establish a new platform business with which we can leverage our strengths, but which is independent from our video game platform business.
These make much more sense.
Trolling don't worry. What? Disney X Nintendo crossover? Is this for real or are you guys just speculating/trolling?
Iwata making changes to nintendoWait, so what did I miss? I'm hearing all of this crazy stuff. What's happening?!
At least we'll have something else to yell about.Reading over Iwata's comments about Nintendo licensing their IP, it sounds like they are talking in a broader sense beyond just games. This might mean we could see some Nintendo-based movies down the road. Disney and Pixar could do wonders with a Super Mario or Star Fox film, and might just be the type of unconventional promotion they need to grab some mind share of the young children demographic they've admitted to not targeting effectively. Not only would you get the kids, but you'd also get the parents and older siblings as well.
Someone draw that...Ahh, well... to be honest... if we cannot have Kingdom Hearts games on the Nintendo home consoles, then I would love it if we got "Mushroom Kingdom Hearts" for the Wii U... Disney X Nintendo... hell, instead of Sora... Captain N is the protagonist (please no spiky anime hair).
I'd kill for a good Legend of Zelda movie.Reading over Iwata's comments about licensing their IP, it sounds like they are talking in a broader sense beyond just games. Yes.I want a Smash Bros toyline.

Do it yourself.Someone draw that...
...Immediately!
Well, there was that one a while back...I'd take a Zelda movie.
To go, please
...I suck at drawing...Do it yourself.
Zelda would be great!Pixar doing films based on Nintendo games would be a dream come true.
Rosalina will sing Let It Go.Reading over Iwata's comments about licensing their IP, it sounds like they are talking in a broader sense beyond just games. Sounds fun! Maybe it could be like Skylanders and Disney Infinity... except with Nintendo characters.I want a Smash Bros toyline.
But then people would whine about Link's voice... that he is supposed to be mute (What do they want him to do? Use sign language?) like in the games... and how the storyline sucked and doesn't fit in the timeline... and how Link froze in fear when he saw Ganon before Tingle screams "remember me?" and shoots Ganon into the lava...I'd kill for a good Legend of Zelda movie.
Yes.
That's why I selected Disney because I feel they, or Pixar more accurately, have the most in common philosophically with Nintendo and can give a film based on their IP new life while being true to the games themselves. The marketing would be huge for them -- and I'm not just saying this as an armchair business analyst -- it would get their IP back into the consciousness of the mainstream public which, frankly, is more familiar with Angry Birds and Minecraft than just about any Nintendo IP bar the main stays. At least we'll have something else to yell about.
...What? It's gonna happen...
We're not getting it in summer. Smash was not mentioned. Only Mario Kart 8 in may.So wait. Are we or are we not getting Smash in the summer or do we still don't know?
Pixar could do wonders with Shigesato Itoi.I'd love to see a Mother movie, as good of a storyline Mother has, I think it'd make a great movie.
Pikmin could also potentially turn out very well too.
"A Pikmin's Life"?I'd love to see a Mother movie, as good of a storyline Mother has, I think it'd make a great movie.
Pikmin could also potentially turn out very well too.
I am happy about that. We're not getting it in summer. Smash was not mentioned. Only Mario Kart 8 in may.
Zelda should scream "USE YOUR LIGHT ARROWS" then.Sounds fun! Maybe it could be like Skylanders and Disney Infinity... except with Nintendo characters.

About link's voice, they could mostly make navi or something talk for him.But then people would whine about Link's voice... that he is supposed to be mute (What do they want him to do? I'm thinking more of Olimar coming to the Pikmin planet and discovering them, creating a bond between them. It'd be alot like a more epic Documentary movie, but with boss fights."A Pikmin's Life"?
