Swamp, are you talking about this text:That better be a mistranslation....
Someone get a Japanese speaker in here.

Please translate the Japanese text.
Well that's a relief.http://gaminrealm.com/2014/01/29/iwatas-quote-targeting-kids-mistranslated-actually-meant-opposite/
Huh....
This is getting interesting...
Yes. I was referring to that.Swamp, are you talking about this text:
Iwata: 「子どもたちへのアプローチが十分ではなかった」
Basically "Our approach towards children was not satisfactory."
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I translated that with a friend a few minutes ago and that's what we got. What is the statue is actually a stage hazard and will attack the stage

Well, I just talked with Scoliosis, and he's actually not that upset about it. Turns out he was told about it a day ago that said locking was going to happen. Oh, and Noah is finally banned for good as he was accordingly responsible for a huge majority of said thread's issues. So yeah, Scoliosis is doin good. Man...I wish I could be that positive.
...Another thing I'd like to say is that this would be a bad idea to start going on about. We're certainly divided here and I don't want to start another damn war. I have my personal qualms with some people but I've became a very reasonable guy.

I stopped playing the NSMB games because it felt like a textured version of SMB to me; a game I've played enough times.Thank God it was a mistranslation. They wouldn't be that stupid to make more child-friendly games (New Super Mario Bros. 42)
Well, the quote from Scoliosis from the mods was "they realized how detrimental he was to pretty much any legitimate discussion" and it's true. It's time to get over it, and now I can actually support Krystal without hours of our lives being lost.Whoa, harsh ban.
My condolences to Saturn's friends here.
Louie G. is not going to like this.
Well, it'll only be a matter of time until Smash comes out, as I'm sure Smash will do a huge spike to the Wii U's sales, and also the 3DS.As I stated before, the desperation is likely due to their losses.
thats really hilarioushttp://gaminrealm.com/2014/01/29/iwatas-quote-targeting-kids-mistranslated-actually-meant-opposite/

*Internal screaming*Noah wasn't that bad at times. (compared to...."gulp" dare I say it? the Divine- NO I can't say it all...)

After seeing the NES days, nothing surprises me.Honestly, I am surprised that a translator would make such a mistake. I found that quite amusing.
some things changed when the layout changed, that probably was a side-effect.You're next, Golden. You won't escape this time now that the mods have Wobbuffet.
Is Saturnoah really banned again? Doesn't look like it.
Normally, banned users would have "Banned (x) points" by the name, and when Divine was super banned, it showed next to his name as well, and the banning removed him from my friend list. (kinda harsh, actually)
Did something change with the fourms?

THISI think the problem Nintendo has is that it fails to release enough Mario games in a given year.
I don't get it.http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=760049
This link here says that the first translation was right...
Yeah, this IS getting interesting. Interesting and confusing.
I'd rather see OTHER franchises get the spotlight.THIS
Where is my New super mario galaxy U and Mario Party Wii U ?
I think I'm done seeing new MPs after 10 just bombed horrifically.I'd rather see OTHER franchises get the spotlight.
And do we really need another mario party?
I have no proof, but it's said that sometimes, at the least, Directs are announced a day before they release. In that case, I still expect one on Friday.*Internal screaming*
So... were people expecting a General Direct this month? Because they are every other month and we just had one on December, so... February...
What are your thoughts on this?Honestly, I am surprised that a translator would make such a mistake. I found that quite amusing.

BigAxle 4 next moderatorCan I please ask that we don't go into an arguement about a user who is banned? Because that's the thing that's a star pupil of being off-topic.
Let's actually talk about something else for once, please.
Well, translation methods have certainly improved since the NES days not to mention languages themselves changing. As well, the expectations of translators have certainly grown higher due to higher degrees and such. Not to mention more and more programs and courses dedicated to language translation. Translation is also pays very well. My fiance, who works at a business as the English Specialist, hired a Japanese-French translator. Her rates was $800 a day and they hired her for 3 days. After seeing the NES days, nothing surprises me.
Cue the Metal Gear quotes. Though in modern times, you'd think that they'd have it down by now.
How about just keeping this place on-topic, because we just nearly derailed the thread. Now the translation thing is a far more intruiging issue. Let's talk about that!BigAxle 4 next moderator
Certainly thought so. Translations are kind of vital in the world so we understand what others are saying when we aren't bilingual. Perhaps the dust will settle soon and we'll find which translation is correct.Well, translation methods have certainly improved since the NES days not to mention languages themselves changing. OF COURSE WE NEED ANOTHER ONE.I'd rather see OTHER franchises get the spotlight.

Personally I believe the first one was wrong.
Iwata just mentioned it in the investor meeting.Source?
