I was hoping for neither, actually.
I would prefer Lucario to get the Mega Evolution, mostly because it would be awesome with that huge ass boost of attack power.
Imagine forward smashing a Bowser at 10% off the stage! That is just flat out awesome.

About the hidden characters thing...

There's also the fact that both Snake and Sonic are on the back of the game box. So even if you knew nothing about Brawl prior to purchase, those two will still be spoiled as they are unlockables. (Though one of the reasons is probably to generate hype. Honestly, if I knew nothing about Brawl, introducing 3rd parties would excite me for the game all the more, especially seeing Sonic.)

I still think we're getting unlockables... for now haha. Although I'm one of those people who wouldn't care if there are no unlockables.

It could be very possible that Sakurai is probably planning to revisit Toon Zelda thus he decided to bring Toon Link back early so he could work and finish her off. After all, he did go back to working on Villager in Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS and he was also planned for Brawl. So I can definitely see Toon Zelda as a realistic possibility.

I know people have a disdain towards clones and all but so long as Tetra tags along with her and she has an original moveset of her own than I'm more than happy to see Toon Zelda join the fray. Toon Zelda is one of my favourite Zelda's too so I'm cool with her.

Just don't give us Toon Sheik...

I'm the type of person who believes a lot of characters can be unique provided if they have enough source material for diverse movesets. An example would be Mario & Paper Mario, while they are the same character they have shown off so many different abilities in their respective games (FLUDD, Luma Spin, hammer, paper folding abilities and partners to name a few) that it wouldn't be so farfetched to have Paper Mario included. Its much like Phantom Blood Dio & Stardust Crusaders Dio in JoJo's All Star Battle really.

Don't get me wrong... I am fine with the idea of Toon Zelda being in Smash. I just dislike the concept of Toon Sheik so much that I would rather get someone else from the Zelda series like Impa or Tingle. If Toon Zelda transforms into Tetra or doesn't transform at all, I would tolerate her inclusion... I just don't want Sakurai to waste his time and resources developing Toon Sheik (Sakurai's "lol original character do not steal") when he could have added Tetra (an actual Zelda character) instead.

Well seeing as how he revealed Toon Link so early and there is still at least a year until these games release. There really is no excuse to not include Tetra as part of Toon Zelda's transformation instead of this "Toon Sheik" if he really is revisiting Toon Zelda again. I'd be very disappointed in Sakurai as well if he were to avoid doing the obvious with Toon Zelda and not give her Tetra as her transformation. :/

I would prefer somebody besides Toon Sheik, but if she was actually added to Brawl, to be honest? I wouldn't find that a problem. It's another playable character who doesn't actually play the same way as Sheik. Since the size makes a difference in playstyle. As well as speed and attack power.

I don't think people realize that almost every clone is ultimately different and requires an unique playstyle.

Also, Sakurai made a playable clone on his own, he's called Giga Bowser. If he wanted to make a Toon Sheik, him doing it makes just as much sense as making Giga playable. It just isn't a problem, ultimately.

The Smash community here seems to be much more rabid than the Smash guys on my channel. Besides, I get enough hate on YT from the Ridley video alone, one source of hate is satiable enough lol.

I can go in there right now and say "Hi guys, I don't think Ridley could work in Smash." and I'll have iron sights aimed at my head.
