Gaming should have more "bears" as a way to combat the all too common homophobia amongst male gamers. Gay doesn't have to be fabulous, gay can be someone who could tear your arm off and beat you to death with it after winning an arm wrestling contest.
Speaking of "bears", isn't Bowser and Ganon considered "bear" icons in the Nintendo fanbase?

Aww man if Rare was still apart of a Nintendo, Birdy would be an amazing Assist Trophy that just talks as the battle goes on.

Birdy: Oy! Oy! When of the stage press "B"
*player jumps off and presses B*
Birdy: Haha! You stuupid player *hiccup*!

I was going to say "you're speaking Arcadenik's language," but Arcadenik spoke for himself.

What a jerk.

Ganondorf: "Excellent!"
Not gonna lie... Ganondorf was my most-wanted character for Melee because I loved A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask (the only Zelda games I played at the time) and I thought he was hot! *dat ass* And this was long before I got on the Internet and discovered the existence of Rule 34.

I'd be fine with that as long as it speeds up people not thinking gay people are not wiggle your fingers exotic. We really need to move on from this as a society. The thing that brought my homophobia to a crashing end was having a coworker who was pretty much exactly like me but gay. We dressed the same, we liked the same stuff, but he liked dudes and I liked girls and working with him made me realize that it really didn't affect anything in the grand scheme of things. Of course, this was back in the days where I thought you caught "the gay" like some kind of zombie virus and to run into someone that could have passed as my twin brother gave me a heavy dose of perspective that I desperately needed.

This statement alone proves that Bowser and Ganondorf are the kings of the bara videogame fandom.

What's really ironic is that all the yaoi/shounen-ai I've read/seen over the years, for the most part, I've never come across main characters who are stereotypically portrayed "fabulous" and have other over-the-top characteristics making them seem ridiculous on purpose, which seem to be more prominent in manga/anime not in the yaoi genre. Really, the characters are just your average people, with strong roles, and some even badass!

Then again, I'm a very picky reader, and the BL manga that I read aren't your typical cliche love stories.

Um, yeah, I'm just finishing up the fic... uh too lazy to fix all the grammar haha.

Same, I personally may not be pro homosexuality, but I have learned to respect others and their differences the same way I respect others and their different political, religious, etc... differences.
I learned that regardless of your sexuality, religion, gender, etc... it really has nothing to with the person and their character.

But i fear such stereotypes aren't going away, black people are still associated with fried chicken and anyone of Hispanic descent is associated with boarder hopping.
Me personally, I can care less what I'm stereotyped as; So tell Masah to gimme all the fired chicken and watermelon you got!

Okay, so I'm too lazy/tired to fix grammar, quotes, and whatnot, so I apologize in advance...

Takamaru x Shulk fanfic? (More like paragraph).

Under the starlit sky sits two very distinguished swordsmen on a lush, green hill. Despite coming from different eras, both men seem to have an unorthodox force pulling them together -- a force that pulls the two deeper and deeper into something more than a friendship.

"It is a pleasure to see you again, Shulk", whispers Takamaru. The blue-haired samurai slowly drinks a sip of his tea, and looks up to the stars.

"Thank you for the green tea. I'm very surprised that we've bumped into each other again", replies Shulk.

"The bond between us is strong. Even on the first day we met, I knew right from the start we would meet again. This is not luck, Shulk, but fate", says Takamaru. "When we departed on the first day we met, I was saddened, and counted every hour, no minute, no second without your presence, hoping that we would meet each other again".

"You did what?" blurts Shulk, spitting out his drink.

"Shulk, can't you see. We are meant to be together... it's destiny!"

"Has somebody spiked your drink?"

"No, Shulk. This is what happens when fans write bad fanfics. But do not worry; hopefully the writer will make us piss-drunk so that we'll forget everything tomorrow morning.

"God help me..." cries Shulk.

Wii Fit Trainer got hit with the sudden fame more than any other character in anything ever. She was relatively tame until Smash Bros. picked her up.

E3 2013 comes around, suddenly an explosion of WFT Rule 34. All in the latter half of that day.

Biggest leap ever from anything in any game, probably.

It's official, the Wii Fit Trainer is officially becoming a new Yuri icon in the Smash fanbase.
Shoot, I could've told you that a long time ago.

When/if John dies in the story, this is what he'll hear as he passes on:

I think yaoi's bigger problem is that it turns men that are maybe slightly less stereotypically masculine than their partner into what is essentially stereotypical women without breasts or vaginas. Butchering either character into some cookie cutter heterosexual relationship. Usually often with clear D/s what nots.

So it becomes homophobic gay porn, ironically.

I agree Fatman but sadly I don't think homophobia on a mainstream scale is going away anytime soon

that kind of ish runs deep within people, and it's influenced by religion too so yeah

It's gotten to the point where people even refer to everything they don't like as "gay"; might as well start trying to convince everyone Michael Jackson isn't the pedophile he was made out to be

Stereotypes will likely continue to exist as it's easier for people to group people by certain "traits".

Oh, and you wanna know something that's cute? If you're a guy that has never had a girlfriend, you must be gay.

I was basically BANNED for even having an anti-gay opinion. BANNED. For even speaking out against a poisonous disease that is plaguing this nation. Oh sorry, I'm not allowed to say that. But then again, I'm not allowed to have an opinion about it at all on this site (let alone anything else, apparently), because that's how the homosexual agenda works - pro-gay comments are allowed, but anti-gay comments aren't. It's unfair discrimination against my beliefs, but I learned to leave with this, because injustice seems to run through this complex machine of SmashBoards. What ridiculous hypocrisy.

I personally think there are some good stereotypes, though. There's nothing wrong with black people liking chicken or watermelons. Nothing at all. It's just the likes of NAACP, Al Sharpton, and liberal media that make it such a bad thing.

White, black, Mexican, Asian, French... it doesn't matter - stereotypes exists everywhere. That doesn't mean all of it is bad, however. Some of them are good, like thinking positive about it instead of negatively. Some are bad, obviously (stupid people vote for Republicans) but some are also good (stupid people vote for Democrats). It's how it works, I guess. :glare:

What gets you banned is typing stuff like this. Just because you don't agree with, it doesn't give anyone free reign to say what they want. Keep in mind this the internet where there a different people from different backgrounds. So you must be aware of that. I'm not saying you can't disagree, but it should be respectfully done.

Just think of how you felt when people started mocking your religion, you don't think someone would feel a similar way if you talked about something they practiced???

The freedom of speech means you have the right to say as you please, but everyone else has the right to call you an idiot.
