Of course "relevancy" plays a factor, since Mario is only relevant in one galaxy, and his latest release will be much older (like 3 whole weeks) than R2D2's latest release when R2D2 is in Star Wars Episode VII.

After all, as the Smash 4 Character Discussion has taught us all, the kind of "relevancy" they talk about is all that matters.

He also frequently changes his opinions about leaking information, so I guess we won't be hearing much from him until the release date.
