ranmaru ranmaru : I tried out your two newest courses and starred them. I did try some of your other creations, but one of your courses did mess me up at a few spots.

Thanks M&SG! What were your thoughts on those courses, especially the ones that messed you up? I greatly appreciate any criticism you provide as well. I will try a few of yours tonight. :]

At the very start, I went down to try to hit the Question Blocks, only to fall into an abyss. I also got trapped between a Spring and POW Block while at the castle sub-area; I couldn't get out at all, and was forced to have to restart the course.

The other three courses that I've played, I survived without losing any lives.

In regards to Baby Steps, the Super Mario World game style enables Mario to throw enemies and items upwards, which made taking down the Lakitus easier.

Also, my 1-4 SPM Remix level have got some stars, but nobody have finish it.
I am kinda hesitating now if i should upload my last level or wait that those two get what they need.
(By the way, with the level that i have just finished. I will finally have 8 world in total! :))

Bookmarked your level, Redhunter.

M&SG. I played your levels, will finish some of them later. I really liked the spiked castle, though! I would like the check point a bit closer to Bowser, or at least in the last rest spot. Good level! Will comment on the others in a bit.

New Level!

Mario's Locked Out of his House!

In this level Mario is locked out! You must go underground and search for 5 red coins! Solve the puzzles to advance.

This level is pretty short, and easy, but I think it's fun! I'm happy with the results! Tell me what you think if you play and enjoy!

The final part is beating Bowser in Mario's house but there's a checkpoint before him.

The problem is that you can only have "one" checkpoint flag in a single area, so it was impossible for me to have a checkpoint flag placed before the Bowser battle, AND have one be placed before the Koopa Clown Car part (both of which are in the same area).

Basically, while you can have two checkpoint flags in a course, only one can be placed in the main area, while the other one would have to be placed in the sub-area.

Hey, if anybody is looking for a challenging SMW level try mine. It contains no kaizo tricks, just difficult platforming.
I would appreciate if someone gave it a good try. Level code: B450-0000-01DD-8D67
Thanks!

Been working on this one for a while! Check this out guys:

**Title**: Falling with style!

**Bookmark**: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/E9C8-0000-020C-5C4D

**Description**: SMB3 Style, traditional/speedrun. Uses platforms, moving blocks, Piranha Plants, and some vines. There are alternate paths, one that allows for speed, another that is slower, but also allows you to explore a little bit more if you want to do that as well. Enjoy!

That's a long read; essentially they deleted all of his levels for having "poo" in the title? Sounds like Nintendo's own censorship problem, not his own, and it sounds like it's time for them to grow up.

I truly believe Nintendo needs to change their policy to allow for an opportunity to rename courses that only violate their unknown naming policy.
Therein lies the issue sir; they must list the rules for us.

I played your level. It was great! I loved the transition from water to castle, it was a great temple with a great boss. 10/10 and I'm angry the first two people didn't star.

---

Here's a level for you guys:

Title: Goomba Plains

Bookmark: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/1B49-0000-020E-D3D7

Description: Simple, Basic, SMB3, traditional. There are two paths, top path for speed, bottom path for exploration. I suggest going the traditional route, as it's a pretty simple level. Enjoy!

I'd like to share some of my levels as well :-)

Collect the Tears of Light: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/2ABB-0000-0212-1864

Inspired by Zelda: Twilight Princess. It all starts quiet and peaceful for link, but once the Bokoblins invade his home, Darkness spreads and now our Hero has to collect the 5 Tears of Light in order to return Faron Woods back to its old self.

Balloon Fight: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/5769-0000-0210-6C74

A Tribute to Iwata and one of his first creations. As soon as I unlocked the fitting costume, I just had to make this level. Play Bonus games, shove your rivals off stage and enjoy an exciting Balloon Trip! Careful though, the floppy fish is omnipresent!

Eruption Escape!: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/E694-0000-0211-FEF2

The Earth is rumbling and fire rains down constantly in this perilous level! Keep calm and plow through it, search for a key and make your way back to the door. but beware! The way back may become more difficult as the castle gets more destroyed.

The Castle of 4 Trials: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/C102-0000-020D-7E91

Inspired by Marching Milde's fortress from Yoshi's Island, yet with a few original obstacles. I hope you'll enjoy this colorful level :)

Enigmatic Abode: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/C1F3-0000-0213-FF23

Looks like Mario needs to pass this mysterious castle in order to advance. Unfortunately, this spider-infested abode is filled with Magikoopas and plenty of different traps. To make thins worse, His super mushrooms are shaped weirdly!
Help mario navigate through a partially flooded dungeon, a giant Cobweb, Collapsing Castle walls and duke it out with the Magikoopas on top of the Abode.

Happy playing and I hope you have fun :-)

Wow, just played your level, Ranmaru. Gotta say, the Design is superb! Optional Bonus areas are often neglected, unfortunately, but I kept enticed to go for them in your level.

The difficulty, while on the easier side, suits the level perfectly and makes for a relaxing and fair challenge.

The aestetics are great, as well. I particularily enjoyed the sub area. Everything has structure and purpose.

Great stuff, man, thoroughly enjoyable! :-)

Bought the game not too long ago...so here are my first less than stellar attempts at course creation, excuse the crappy names as well...

First Course I made:
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/20BD-0000-0216-67CA

Second One, a bit shorter but not quite as simple:
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/5716-0000-0216-7517

Third one is a failed attempt at a Metroid style course, need to do a bit more planning before attempting a proper one, plus I need to unlock more tools such as checkpoints:
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/2BCF-0000-0217-A93E

C&C as these are just the first three I made...

If anyone is having any trouble with my newest course (D-3: Skewer Ghost House), just as a small tip, the Skewers do move back a bit before moving forward. That's pretty much your cue to advance if you want to avoid taking any damage at certain spots.

So far, even though my newest course has received a star, it has yet to be conquered by anyone.

Challenge accepted! Just beat and starred it. I enjoyed it quite a lot. Boo-Buddies are not my favorite obstacle, because they mainly just drag things on, but the platforming was great!

I especially enjoyed the rush towards the goal. Cool stuff :)

I made a Skewer-Ghost house in the Mario 3 styleas well and I'd love to see you checking it out:

Excepted 1 more star, more play and such. It's basically that, yet, this level isn't considered Super Expert.
Which i don't understand.:023:
Got another course done, Inspired by a memorable Level from DKC2:

Slime Climb Redux: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/BB46-0000-021E-822D

Enjoy this reimagining of a rather stressful level. Hidden in this one are 2 Bonus Barrels, leading to Bonus Games with some nice rewards in them, if you have the perseverance to push through. enjoy! :)
I will try out this level. 'Seem pretty neat.

G-Guy G-Guy : I've played through and starred some of your courses, but I did have to criticize a few of them.

The courses that I played go as follows...
  1. Skewer Skirmish
  2. Slime Climb Redux.
  3. Collect the Tears of Light!
  4. Wario, the gold digger?
  5. Boarding Bowser's Lava Submarine
  6. Balloon Fight
  7. Turbulence
In regards to my criticism.
  • Collect the Tears of Light!: You kind of overdid it with the Piranha Plants and Munchers at some of the vital jump areas, and the winged hard block can be annoying to land on safely.
  • Wario, the gold digger?: Near the end, some of the Munchers were placed at spots where you just can't avoid taking any damage.
  • Boarding Bowser's Lava Submarine: The Bowser battle becomes much harder with the Sledge Bro's inclusion. And even when you do get Bowser to break through the brick blocks, there's hardly any room for Bowser to move around, which means that getting past him without taking damage is not possible if you don't clear the other brick blocks.
  • Balloon Fight: Curse that Chain Chomp for taking away some of my lives. A nice concept at first, but losing lives while changing clouds is just disturbing.

Hey, thanks for taking the time and playing my levels, it's highly appreciated :)

Which Munchers do you talk about in "Wario the Gold Digger"? I usually only upload a course that I can clear without taking any damage as big Mario (or as Wario in this case) (that's sort of my personal uploading guideline)

As for "Bowser's Lava Submarine", yeah it's true that you occasionally need to damage boost through bowser here, but the boss fight has a never ending Pipe that spews out Mushrooms for you. So if you do not have the patience to wait for Bowser to get back up, you have the option to grab a shroom and make a run for it.

I followed your Maker account btw and played some of your stages already, more to come in the future :-)

Edit: I edited and tweaked my Level "Eruption Escape" to be a more enjoyable experience, here's the download link: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/DFA5-0000-021E-D013

G-Guy G-Guy : I did notice on your Miiverse comment for "D-2: Big Mario's House Tour", that time ran out for you at one point. The course basically requires you to move fast, and not be hesitant with the obstacles if you want to complete the whole thing without losing any lives; uploading that course would've been impossible if I couldn't accomplish that task myself.

I will agree though that the Boo Buddies can be a nuisance at times, but I made them giant-sized, because the normal-sized Boo Buddies are a bigger nuisance for Big Mario than the giant variants.

I was busy all weekend. Will play some levels tonight.

@Mario

I like the drill concept you put in, solid. You introduced well and it flowed well. I loved the use of power ups. No criticisms here.

Metal Shop X Metal Shop X :

I will try your level again later. One, your check point is way way way too early. Two, I can damage boost through the boo circles. Three, I'm not too sure of the spikes as walls. I came out of the door and ran into the wall. I just run sometimes. Or if you put the power up in the center away from the wall I'll have more reason to run to that and I might be able to slow down after that. Four, I don't really like the invisible block path, because I was naturally jumping on the skellies, which was fun, then I died from hitting that block and fell into a pit. Feels bad man. Starred though, I like the concept. :D

Aetheri Aetheri

I had some problems with this stage. Not a fan of the boos in blocks, although some people like to do that in boo houses. I remember there being some blind jumps. I think you had two coins there but two coins in that spot is not enough. There was another blind jump and I guessed it correctly, but I think most won't. That's a skip right there, I think. I know it's pretty obvious *not* to go in to the place with the first key door but if I accidentally do, I get stuck and have to kill myself. Just inconvenient. Also if I'm big that section is a bit awkward to get into. (It's only two blocks high, I have to duck) I don't like having to open up the yellow blocks when there is a chance I can lose my power ups, and then I get stuck. Luckily I found the power up in an invisible block but I would not consider this the most optimal way to provide a back up. I would say give replenishable power ups in the case of the yellow blocks.

G-Guy G-Guy :

No criticisms, except I just don't really like the up and downie ness of the boo on clouds. Otherwise great stage, great challenges, great everything. Love the use of vines and cape on the level.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I present to you all, my newest level:

Title: Within the Sanctuary of the Yeti

ID: Yeti's Sanctuary

Description: Traverse these chilly caverns, immersed in it's beauty and wonder. Watch your step or you might fall on the ice. Huddle up to keep yourself warm from the tranquil breeze this underground chasm brings you. A SMB3, Traditional, Underground Ice level, with monty moles and rocky wrenches. There are 5 red coins in the boss room, required. P-switch is optional. There is a P-switch secret. Difficulty is normal. Enjoy!

1: The checkpoint is early in the level because of the Red Coin. I don't know if you know, but there is a "glitch" that make that, when you have get all the Red Coin and you die. You lose all the Red Coin you get when you came back at the checkpoint. While if you have 3/5 Red Coin and you die, you will still have 3/5. So i decide to put a checkpoint just for that you came back faster into the underground section.

2: Yeah, i think i am going to change that portion.

3: Sorry, this block will stay where he is.:p

4: I don't wanted that people skip the level but i don't wanted to put visible block. So i putted invisble one. But i'm gotta to change that.

So yeah, i understand your point. I will change pretty soon this level. So stay tuned!;)

I was also concerned about how the Checkpoint Flag would handle the Pink Coins, so when I made the "D-2: Big Mario's House Tour" course, I placed all the Pink Coins past the checkpoint flag, so that there wouldn't be any potential glitch complications.

Red hunter, I am not sure. I understand though. I think I'd prefer a later check point but it's all the same I guess. For sure.

I was busy all weekend. Will play some levels tonight.

@Mario

I like the drill concept you put in, solid. You introduced well and it flowed well. I loved the use of power ups. No criticisms here.

No criticisms, except I just don't really like the up and downie ness of the boo on clouds. Otherwise great stage, great challenges, great everything. Love the use of vines and cape on the level.

Only just noticed this...but thanks for the tips...
I do need to give this level some tweeks though as it does seem harder than I intended, haven't been on Mario Maker for a while

I have erased two of my level because they didn't get any star or play since some days.
Really, i feel like you have to be lucky sometime when you post a level. You just need 1 star for that a level can have more people play it. And sometime, you just don't get that one star.

Also, my SPM 1-4 level have still haven't be beated. I hope Nintendo isn't going to erase it because it's "too difficult".:4mario:
