Sunrise, Sunset - Isaac for Smash Ultimate #GoldenSunday

Isabelle was quite a hype breaker for me honestly. And just one newcomer as well, no Echo, nothing. Kinda boring.

My best bet for expecting Isaac is near the end. Probably around December or so. There's quite a few RPG titles being revealed now for Switch. So that could potentially bode well for Golden Sun.

I occur with ChronoBound however, if there's gonna be a new Golden Sun for 3DS, y'all better buy it! Am serious. I don't want another hiatus with a open ending like Dark Dawn.

I don't know if I expect any smash direct to happen in December or for any reveals to happen. Have they ever done something like that so close to th release of a Smash game?

If I'm going to be optomistic, there might be a smash direct early October and then a final one mid-late November. If there aren't 2 smash directs then I'd atleast expect to get a mini reveal in October similar to Robin/Lucina's reveal trailer.

NoA's marketing was really wack back in the day. I'm glad things are relatively speaking more faithful now.

I have no doubts that Advance Wars released in 2018 would be a million seller.

Also a lot of established rules were broken. Final Fantasy had a pretty huge Nintendo precense, but Cloud? Not really. Bayonetta was a 3rd party, and while she is an icon, she wasn't Ryu, Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man, Snake, and Megaman level.

All of this made it seem like it was a mix of advertising and Sakurai's own personal tastes influencing what the game received. Also it added an element of unpredictability to the roster. For Brawl, all of the choices seemed more or less obvious besides for Snake.

Earth. The cool thing about Golden Sun is an element isn't just one note. Water isn't just water... its mist, fog, mud, snow, ice, etc.

Earth is even more diverse in GS. Rocks/Minerals, Salt, Death/Life, Ground, Sand, Plant Life, controlling animals, etc.

We didn't specifically have an official ballot pre Smash 4. I think the reason they did choose to use the DLC ballot for the new game instead was because they noticed with the "relevant" characters only and so, people weren't as happy or hyped as they thought it would be which is why I think they shifted to a more fan chosen roster this time around

Its not NoA though, isn't NoJ the one who advertised incorrectly? Constantly late releases for Advance Wars and the bad boxart was Japanese for Dual Strike.

I think we still have a shot give or take. Sure Isaac wasn't revealed in yesterday's nintendo direct, but at the very least I can still see him getting announced via a smash bros centered direct of sorts. Granted I have seen more people as of late (Youtube, gamefaqs, etc) act like he's disconfirmed and even try to bait us Isaac fans. By no means do I think Isaac is out of the running and we just got to keep staying positive. That being said could I be added to the supporter list? :D

Jon didn't know any of that stuff. He made predictions that made sense. He guessed all the Final Fantasies getting ported to Switch since there was some news about Square Enix creating a Switch division. He guessed that VIII wouldn't be ported because VIII isn't on PS4 but the others are. He guessed that Epic Yarn would be ported because Wooly World was and Nintendo doesn't have enough confidence in the 3DS to create new games for it.

They're all pretty standard predictions to make, they only stand out because they're so specific.
I can make a specific prediction too. I predict that Symphony of the Night will be ported to Switch soon. My reasoning? It's on every other console, it's an amazing game with a huge fanbase, and Smash Bros Ultimate is giving everyone Castlevania fever.

He could still be in of course, but they wanted to announce Isabelle earlier because of the upcoming Animal Crossing game. I never knew there wasn't one yet for Switch honestly. But it makes sense to be there, knowing how much it sells and all. And all the new upcoming RPG titles make me more confident for Golden Sun returning. If Golden Sun is back however, it will probably be unvealed in a December Direct where they showcase titles for the new year.

Still, a rather luke warm Direct. Nothing really interessts me from this. Those Final Fantasy remakes look okay, but I think they'll look far too dated to be on Switch honestly. I always said I wanna play FF7, but looking like it does, it doesn't appeal to me. Also, to fans of both Golden Sun and Final Fantasy, will I like the gameplay if I really love Golden Sun?

I don't really get the hype for the Final Fantasy games though, don't everyone and their mother already have ten thousands copies of these games on every platform imaginable ?
Just an exemple, I have FF7 on ps1, ps3, ps4 HD ... no way I'm buying these again portable or not, even if it's packed with a Nintendo switch USB drinks vending machine.
Guess it's good for the people who never played them yet but do they still exist I wonder.

I never really dipped into Final Fantasy. I’ve only ever played a couple, the only one that had an impact on me is X, so that’s why I’m excited for that. But overall, if you like Golden Sun it probably wouldn’t hurt to check out some FFs. They are different styles of games though. FF tends to be a bit more moody than Golden Sun and also lacks the complexity of the Djinn system and certain titles drop the signature Square “job” system. But then makes up for by being, in general, a harder game (some of the earlier games are terribly unfair). Just make sure you understand what you’re getting into with regards to FF and don’t compare it with GS.

I never played Final Fantasy honestly. So no. Also never owned any other console than a Nintendo one. Only never owned a NES and a Wii U, so there's that to consider.

There are some people out there who only ever own Nintendo consoles. This would be a great time for them to finally experience some FF games. Especially IX, I'm glad Square is giving IX a lot of love after all these years.

I get what you mean but i have had many chances to play the older Final Fantasy games I have a PS4 but I want to play it on a Nintendo console it just feels right in some way

I do expect some info dump to occur in October, shorter release period and all, and there's still things to cover like the Spirits mode, the remaining assist trophies, online features etc. that I don't see all being shoved in one direct in addition to trying to explain the remaining newcomers. And if he reveals one at the end, he'd have to have another direct to explain them anyways.

I put in over 300 hours into Dual Strike. Probably right behind Golden Sun on my list of favorite games of all time. The alternate costumes! The customization! The CO relationships! The extra content! The only person who I want in Smash as much as Isaac is Sami.

Also reading all these reactions makes me chuckle. You see things like "Don't lose faith!" and "If you believe, it'll happen!" and "Isaac has no chance now!"

Nothing you say or do, or nothing they announce right now changes anything about the base roster. None of the hints changed. The roster was decided years ago and years of work are coming to a head. Isabelle was always going to happen the second Sakurai finalized the list of newcomers. None of your tweets, the pages of this thread, a German poll, any groundswell of support, none of it influences whether or not Isaac is in the base roster of Smash Ultimate. That ballot closed years ago. I voted for Sami and Isaac.

But now, you can only sit back and wait. Enjoy the ride.

And if I'm Sakurai divvying out announcements, do I stick a character from a GBA RPG with undoubtedly more complicated mechanics and a lot to say about him, his franchise, and the music tracks they picked and history of Smash in a 3 min slot at the end of the general direct after a new Animal Crossing announcement? Nooooooo. JFC, no. Use the simple, popular Animal Crossing semi-clone.

The next Smash Direct is going to be fun though, whether it's in October or November. I could see it explaining Spirits mode, dropping two more trailers for newcomers, and then the rest of the announcement trailers of characters being shown off a week before launch.

Our best bets are in a Smash alone Direct, or end of this year when they announce new games and potentially the last batch of newcomers. I think more "expected" newcomers are bound now. We've had quite a few fan requested / ballot characters in since the unveiling of Ultimate; Ridley, King K.Rool, Simon Belmont, and even the Echoes Chrom, Daisy and Dark Samus. So that leaves for a few more "expected" faces to show up first, like Isabelle. I won't guess a next thing anymore. Hopefully Sakurai will hold another ballot for potential DLC characters down the line.

So even IF Isaac won't be in the base game, and even IF Sakurai won't innitially confirm DLC for Ultimate, I still remain hopeful. We can't compare Isaac with King K.Rool honestly in this regard, cause K.Rool is still from the DKC franchise after all which isn't dormant anymore since DKC Returns on Wii. Golden Sun doesn't have this. So I do believe we are bound to a new game, which might not even happen for a while.

Smash Ultimate's line up and roster is so full, I doubt they are gonna reveal DLC right away when the game launches anyway. We should be content with the base game till around a year and a half down it's line. So we might not even see Isaac before 2020 even. Yeah, there I said it. It might take us far more to reach to Sakurai than the support for Ridley (which could probably be heard even in another planet by how obnoxiously loud they've been :laugh:

) and King K.Rool, but have a beacon of hope. Cause I believe that we can easily revive the franchise.

About Camelot, I think they might even wanna do different things before Golden Sun. They said that they really wanted to make a 3D Donkey Kong game for example. And I applaud that (naturally). And IFFFF Camelot does a mainline Donkey Kong game, and it sells like the Country games, be guranteed that Nintendo allows them to make a new Golden Sun, and expand their office therefore.

Y'know, if we're going by the fighters list on the website, we're guaranteed at least two more fighters since there are spaces for two more. If we get a Smash Direct in October or November, I have no doubt in my mind we'll get at least two uniques and an echo, which would start another row on the Smash website.

So really, we could be looking at five characters still. I still believe we'll get between 6-8 unique fighters and with Inklings, Ridley, Simon, Rool and Isabelle, there are still quite a few spots left.

I do wonder if we'll get any info in October though. I could definitely see it being quite a barren month as far as Smash goes.

Although October would be a good month for a Skull Kid/Geno reveal considering their Halloween appeal. I agree overall however, that we will get at least 2 more unique fighters and a few more echos.

But if we look at brawl and Wii U Smash, the character reveals tend to pile up more drastically closer to launch date. So maybe Sakarai will surprise us with an overload that we just didn't expect.

Like I said, the Rathalos picture, Golden Sun reference or not, stirred the GS pot. If he doesn’t know about us then it’s because he apparently doesn’t ever check his Twitter.

He knows we exist. We’ll find out if it means anything in the end.

No hard felling, but I just don't understand why people expect Skull Kid, he was nowhere to be found during ballot times and there is nothing credible leaking him. He makes way more sense as a boss for Young Link. Just like the Black Knight for Ike since he is Missing from Castle Siege.

I've never played Golden Sun, though i've got a rom ready to go. I don't know if I have any strong feelings for or against Isaac, but I think I lean more on the side of wanting him in just so more Nintendo franchises get represented... Smash Bros is not a series I love because of all the Nintendo characters that are in it, it's the other way around for me. I love Nintendo characters because of the exposure to them I got in Smash Bros... before Smash 64 the Mario and Pokemon characters were all I knew. So I guess you could say that i'm a supporter.

I've actually never owned a Sony console aside from a PS3 that got hijacked by my family and eventually lost it's ability to read discs. I actually did by Final Fantasy 9 for it, but I actually never got around to playing the game because circumstance didn't give me any time. So I'm kind of happy that I'll get a second chance to play FF9, it's the one I've always wanted to play. I reckon i'll see what all the fuss is about FF7 while i'm at it. Also wouldn't mind revisiting crystal chronicles, my friend had the game, but I didn't play it much with him because the GBA thing was a pain.
