Ah, right. For some reason I was thinking Camelot was all three sports: tennis, golf, and football/soccer. I revise my prediction and think they're working on a Mario Golf Game for the switch.

I do hope I'm wrong, but despite the copyright updates I'm not sure they are actually working on a new Golden Sun or a remake.

There is a credible insider that shot down Mario Golf happening. Besides, if we were getting Golf, we should have heard of it by now. Especially in the March Mini Direct.
Nintendo has been fighting for this new GS trademark for 2 years. This is money they are wasting. They wouldn’t be doing this unless they have a GS game they want to sell.

I mean, he's not wrong. You could only ever punch forward in ARMS, and with up and down attacks Min Min would lose her recovery and ARMS Change. The kicks allow her to fill in those games without losing those.
With that in mind, I take Min Min as implicitly putting ATs back on the table.

Only thing that gets me a bit with Shining Force, is that article back in 2017, I think. Where it mentioned the Camelot software Boss has expressed interest in wanting to make another Shining Force. This is less about thinking Shining Force is more likely to happen and more just I find it odd that since the Takahashi brothers wrote that 2012 message in regards to Golden Sun. There's just been radio silence. Not even a, why it'd sure be nice to do Golden Sun again! Like they stated before Dark Dawn happened. Now, they just don't talk about it lol.

Camelot still has a working relationship with Nintendo doing the sports games so wouldn't Golden Sun be easier to bring to fruition than collaborating with Sega? In that interview where they talk about being able to combine the handheld and console together, I can't check the interview right now but I remember the answer to whatever question was them saying that Camelot is an rpg studio at heart, something like that. So again it's just really odd that they don't talk about Golden Sun more and express interest in wanting to do another one and just leaving it to fan demand altogether.

I'm more interested in the fact that all the content that ARMS got in base game was indeed because of the fact that they couldn't do a character and was in compensation for it... only they didn't add music? Something's definitely smelling here still

This is off-topic, but I kind of wonder if people still feel like most of the pass is going to be third-party? If there is one thing that is always consistent it is that Smash always ends on what is perceived by some as anti-climatic and there is definitely a possibility that those wanting more third-parties would end up disappointed.

I can't speak for most people, but I'm definitely not expecting it to be mostly third party. As soon as I saw that there was more characters in the pass rather than less, I figured first party IP would spread it out more.

I’m gonna be perfectly honest, I’m not expecting Isaac to be in Smash, but it would be a very nice surprise.

The new GS game is what matters more to me, so that’s my priority, while the possibility of Isaac in Smash is just something to keep in the back of my head while we wait for news.

I will say this though: that title of “best Isaac player in the world”? That’s gonna be me.

Oh, well, you're very welcome. Truthfully I'm surprised over the acknowledgement, and I can imagine what people probably think of my contributions over the last while, but I'm touched that my presence is still appreciated here to some degree.

It's funny, I've made every Isaac thread on the site in the past decade, but I've also sort of become the heavy. You'd think that would fall upon someone else. But really I'm just the counterweight. When the thread is slow, I post much more, to keep it active. You know how many pages there were within the first year of this thread's existence? Ten. And I was probably a quarter of those posts, lol. When the thread is pretty regular, like now, I recede a bit. When the thread is negative, I try to bring positivity. But I believe the truth is always somewhere in the middle, so now when the thread is... very effusive, I'm here to tether people back down I guess.

A big thread that exists only as an echo chamber is a thread that can easily become unstable. Trust me, I was a mod in the Ridley thread last time around. It can get ugly. This time, there might be another big thread, the habits of which we may want to avoid. During the fall leading up to release, I'd be lying if I said this thread didn't become rather unwieldy. I just don't want people to dive in so deep that they get lost. On either side. Nor would I want to take advantage of the credence people still, somehow, lend to my opinion.

I know it might seem I'm always in here being a raincloud, I get it, but believe me, usually I'm trying to just leave well enough alone. The entire basis of Isaac support for years has been the enduring belief that he's still possible, and the popularity necessary to perpetuate that belief. And while I might disagree with some of the theories people posit, I would never try to tamper with the overall motivation. Because that's really the driving factor that's kept the fanbase going long after those of his contemporaries faded away.

So, y'know, resent me, appreciate me, scoff at me - it's all good. Ultimately we all want the same goal, we're all dreaming the same dream, and I'm just doing what I think is best to keep the fanbase, sort of like you said, on the right track forward. I certainly wouldn't be here if I didn't still care about Isaac.

You are right in the sense that it doesn't have to be Camelot. Nintendo owns Golden Sun. They can give it to whoever they want.

However, I kind of doubt they'll give it to anyone else. Most of their other studios got their own work.

Yeah. So, Nintendo could let another dev work on it, but you'd need Camelot to sign off on that, and they'd still get credit as the IP co-owner.

Golden Sun is a wholly owned Nintendo IP that they task Camelot with developing. Same thing with Fire Emblem being developed by IS and owned by Nintendo.

Nintendo co-owns every IP made out of house with that particular dev. FE, Kirby, Xenoblade, Golden Sun, etc. The only IPs Nintendo fully owns are those created in-house. But other than Pokemon, the outside devs don't seem particularly fussy about deferring to Nintendo.

I want to second this from an outsider's perspective. I gave up on GameFAQs about a decade ago but found myself continually coming back to check posts here. Every time there was a N3ON post, I would be intrigued because 1) good points were about to be made, 2) order was about to be restored. My pores were cleared and my crops were thriving.

Thanks for creating and always supporting this thread. Through the tumultuous nature of supporting a character like Isaac in Smash, having a community here has been a constant reminder that the character is not as unpopular or unlikely as others would lead us to believe.

If I may add some things to it, notably to balance:
-Reduce damage done by weapons (or increase ennemy HP and damage done by psynergy) and reduce PP regen out of combat so using it is a powerful tool, but one you must manage. Increasing ennemy damage a bit would also help, as you'll have to manage your healing too.
-For Sveta or characters like her that may appear in the future, lock the transformation to a set number of turns, 3 for example, and make the power of the transformation scale on the number of djinns used for it. She would use all set djinns, not standby one, so you could plan on leaving some of them on standby to set them again (or use a summon) so Sveta is not as weakened as she would be otherwise, but her beastform would not be as strong as a result.
-Add more ennemies with unique mechanics, that you have to play around with psynergy. That's cool.
