If this can be done in a real match, it'll help every PT out there. Every matchup has a pokemon that does worst, whether it's Ivysaur or Squirtle. Regardless of how good you are with all three, there will be matchups where you don't want to have one of the pokemon out there at all.

That being said, if this skips a pokemon permanently for the rest of the match, even if we could get it done in a real match, I'm not sure I'd be skipping a pokemon every match. There's a lot more to think about than just individual pokemon matchups, so don't get too hyped over this

I didn't know you lurked on the PT boards boards Aero lol.

Edit- Most PTs prefer to only predominattly use two chars, it makes sense, there's rarely any point using a third pokemon when you don't need to, considering that it usually is the one that does the worst against the opponent.

Yeah. I'm often watching. Watching you all.... xD

I suppose it still might not even work.

Has there been any progress as of late?

I'd be pretty stoked if I could skip Ivysaur. xD

I think it's become a dead issue. I think if it was going to happen in normal play, someone would have done it on accident by now. Also, limiting yourself to two pokemon limits your options, regardless of the matchup. And options are PT's biggest asset.

i disagree chuckles. if you are about to fight someone and you have a gun, a sword, and some aluminum foil to bring with you...why would you bring the aluminum foil?

To toss at them as a distraction so I can switch from my sword to my gun without getting punished.

...except by the time you've tossed the aluminum foil you've already been stabbed three times - and if for some reason you survive long enough to cycle through your weapons, the aluminum foil comes back and you have to toss it again...

...yeah...

Hmmm, analogy aside...
If at any point, Pokemon X is tired and at high %, you're in a bad position. You don't switch, you're fighting at a disadvantage. You switch to Pokemon Y, and Pokemon Y gets KO'd, you pop back out with Pokemon X, which hasn't fully recovered it's Stamina, tires out sooner, and you're in an even worse position...

Pokemon Z provides a Sacrificial KO, if worst comes to worst. It also provides a delay for Pokemon X to recover more Stamina, and gives you a backup plan if things go astray. Even against Yoshi, Squirtle sees some airtime. Bounce around long enough to give Charizard time to recover, and at times, make sure Ivysaur comes in at 0%, and ready for action.

What if you're fighting a microwave?
Brilliant. :p

Chuckles with a 2-pokemon battery strategy, the point is to use the two pokemon that do the best, because there's usually no point using a notehr pokemon which does worse than the other two when yo udon't need to.

This is why everyone usually starts Squirtle, because it's normally a Squirtle-Zard battery, and noramlly Squirtle does the best, so you start Squirtle, that way you get 2 stocks with him and Zard only gets one. Some people like to send in Ivy at high percents for a sacrifice KO or if they feel they can Ko with him better than a fatigued Squirtle.

In this way you've maximised the amount of time you're better pokemon are out.

Sorry for the double post but Chuckles here's a good way to summing it up-

"Also, limiting yourself to two pokemon limits your options, regardless of the matchup. And options are PT's biggest asset." (I know there's a quote option I just messe dit up and couldn't beb botehred redoing it).

Most options PT has aren't good against your opponent, using a 2 pokemon battery is limiting you to your best options, seeing as there is no point using worse ones.

That's exactly what I was getting at. I'm one of those people. XD

Let's suppose you start Squirtle. He becomes fatigued and with good DI and such survives to 100%. trying to land a KO with a tired out squirtle is a pain in the toosh, so you decide to switch into Charizard. Charizard bites the dust early, because he came out already hurt pretty bad, and you're stuck with a Squirtle that's yet to fully recover...

Let's suppose I send out Ivysaur. A fair portion of her weakness derives from how easy she is to gimp, which at high percents, matters less and less, due to the liability for her to simply hit a blast zone before recovering anyway. Even if she goes down early, I'm in the same position as the previous situation, except I got a fresh Charizard from the trade, as opposed to a worn down Squirtle..
