Hey, was wondering how some people were able to properly extract the images from the "StockFace1pTex_ja.brres" file & the "StockFaceTex_ja.brres" file, as shown in this thread http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=150995

Everytime I run tpl2tgaAll.bat or tplx.exe on the tpl files, the images always look very wrong, and look somewhat like this

This is the resulting "InfStc.251.tpl" file from the "menu/common/StockFace1pTex_ja.brres" directory

Any help would be awesome

Finally, Brawl has been released and I have some screenshots. But, how exactly do I get them to my computer? Is there a tutorial on this anywhere? Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I've got it...

Use GaryCXJk's Tpl Converter 0.4. It should convert it properly, and directly to png.
I also tried it with that & an error message popped up saying bgd.dll was not found & reinstalling the app should fix the problem. I stored the dll in the system32 folder & in the folder containing "GaryCXJk's Tpl Converter 0.4" and a newer error message popped up something about some "truecolor" thing not displaying properly. Unfortunately I'm at my house for a bit & my laptop with windows on it is at my dormroom. I can post a screenshot of the error a bit later tonight. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 in VMware Fusion.

I've got them all :p

I only need to fix the multiple texture issue, as well as some other things.

Anyway, check the menu/intro/enter/ files. Most contain full renders of the playable characters. Not high-res, but very close.

Which brings me to another issue (also fixed by just extracting the palette), but certain TPL files in that same directory (the ones with the _2 prefix, meaning it's an extension to the previous sprite) still use the wrong palette. I don't know if you also have issues with it, but I have problems with pointers not picking up the variables I need when I re-use them. I thought of fixing this by either:

1. Using a function which creates a local pointer, which returns the value of said pointer;

2. Using a function which stores the data in a given pointer, but first reads the data in a separate local pointer;

Both will make sure that the pointer will disappear at the end of the function. I'm pretty sure both will work. Perhaps you too have problems with pointers for the palette data, so I think you should give it a look.

By the way, if you're not sure what I'm talking about, it's the renders for Link (his sword) and Pikachu (his tail). Both the sword and the tail are separate from the actual render (which totally doesn't make sense).

Ok.. added the possibility to order by date or filesize and change the images per page.
If there are any bugs, please tell me. :x

Yeah, Something on my server was causing performance issues. I'm talking to support to get the problem solved.

edit:

I've had to disable the Image Gallery.

The "image_resize.php" script is causing a CPU issue. Making 55 processes at once.

So...no gallery till I can find something else.

http://www.multiverseworks.com/tplconv/tplconv.0.5.zip

Finally fixed the multiple texture issue. You can test it on the next file:

http://www.multiverseworks.com/tplconv/InfStc.021Multi.tpl

Apparently I used the wrong offsets when setting the file up, and all the while I thought it was the program itself giving bugs.

Also optimized the program and gave it RGB565 support.

A small question, I am planning to do BTI files now, but should I pack both programs in one or should I make separate programs? Both are quite alike, with some differences in the header.

Looks like ssbextract is choking on the pacs in the /Fighter directory.

Doesn't dump the files.

Also. SSBextract splits the MDL0 and TEX0 inside the brres but there are pointers in the MDL0 pointing at the footer of the brres file. I'm pretty sure it's referencing the textures for the texture mappings. :)

If it's not dumping files,

Move the extractor to a directory like C:\Extract

Not C:\DocumentsAndSettings\User\Desktop\Extract

Because if your profile is set to private, it can cause problems with his extractors for some reason.

Either that, or create a directory with the same base name (without the pac extension). Works everytime on a private account.

That did it for me. ;)

edit: Yikes 3 different types of animations for Game and Watch.
Character, Color, and Visual

The Fighter file also contains all the prop models as well.

Several things are being worked on:

1. Cracking the decoding and encoding of snapshot files. Expect some heavy brick crapping on Nintendo's side when we upload practically impossible pictures.

2. Cracking the decoding and encoding of stage files. Expect external stage editors and graphical stage viewers.

3. Cracking the decoding of replay files. Useful for making a summary of events happening in the replay ( for people to review without actually having to play the game ).

4. Cracking everything else. Useful for sprite ripping and Garry's Mod. Especially Garry's Mod.

Also, the missing trophy preview images are confirmed to be in the US version as well.

....what? Garry's mod? Getting Smash in Gary's mod? Wow, that'd be awesome. Bowser vs Antlion guard.

And what's meant by "practically impossible pictures"?

Something you can't do within the game.
Basicly "photoshopping" the snapshots, encrypt and sign them back and send to ninteno.

Not exactly what I meant, can be done in GMod, but it would be easier just to program your own mod for Half-Life 2. I was more talking about ragdolls in Garry's Mod, maybe even Smash stages as maps.

I doubt Nintendo will brick consoles that upload modded screenshots. Because firstly, It won't be that large of an issue. Maybe 1000 people doing it at most.

And also I don't think they'd care to try and block that, if it were even possible with the Wii. Since it's hard coded onto the disc. Brawl wasn't coded to allow external modding of code by Nintendo.

He said "brick crapping", as in "shi.t a brick in astonishment". Different from "start bricking consoles".

Ah, Well sorry to him then. I've only heard that saying as Crapping a brick. Not the reverse lol. Assumed he mean't console bricking.

Yeah it wouldn't definitely be funny to have high def images as brawl screenshots in-game haha. Submit like a 25mb uber high def image XD.

uhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! im following the directions and just realized that your file in the demo is thp and mine is bin and i have the xcodec thing so what do i do now?
Read the Disclaimer slowly.

This is a THP video converter. Not a BRAWL video converter.

There is NO WAY to convert the videos you record in Brawl.

Because they are not videos. There are data that tells the game what characters were used, and how the match went down exactly. So the game can recreate that match for you.

THP VIDEO are the video files that Nintendo use in many of there game disc's.
