Speedy-Norris Monthly Tournament #2! (Date Changed to November 15th!

Greetings everyone and welcome to the 2nd tournament to be founded by C.Norris and Speed! This one will be hosted by...yours truly! We hope that this time, we can have everything go more smoothly with less people not appearing on the scene when they are needed. Any ways..I'll do a quick recap of some of the rules set in the last tournament!~

• Each and every match will be 3 stock, 8 minutes
• 2/3 matches. Semi-finals and onward will be best 3/5.
• No items permitted. (No...not even the Smash Ball.)
  
• Custom moves will be allowed. However, NO EQUIPMENT! If you are caught about this, you will be banned from the tournament and any other tournament hosted by me or Norris.
• In order to participate, you MUST have an account for challonge and you must be sure that you are free for the day of said tournament.
• There will be a loser's bracket. Comebacks are always hype-inducing..
• There will be a cap of 36 participants. Once I post the link for the Challonge, it will be first come, first serve. I will post it on the 18th around 8:00 PM EST.

If you're able to provide a streaming service, please inform me. Do note, that you won't be able to participate if you're streaming. We're going to need two streamers to cover both winners and loosers.

I also want to let everyone know that this tournament will also have a character restriction to it and of course, will be first come, first serve like before. But do note, the time for choosing characters is not upon us. I will be posting a separate thread on a later date.

This is something that should probably be discussed. Originally, I was planning to allow Smash Balls. But I'm unsure if that would be something that people would like to have on or not.
We'll have to see what people think about the idea.

Personally, mind you i have never participated in a legitimate tourny before (only friendly ones as an excuse for friends to collaborate together), but i think the smash ball should stay out. Some characters smash ball is auto-win strong, while others are just a joke.

i'd like to come as Lucario, but until we get closer i cant guarantee i'll be available. Weekends are my odd days, sometimes i work sometimes i dont. And i have class during the week.

I would prefer that Smash Balls are off, but I don't really care if they're on either.

I'm looking forward to participating (if I make it in) regardless of Smash Balls, especially now that I know some characters that better fit my play style than Lucina does.

Looks like it'll be the 8th. Going with no on smashballs. Interesting idea, but I imagine it leading to a lot of frustration seeing as how some characters have far superior final smashes as opposed to others.

The Final Smash's are a ton more balanced then they were in Brawl, that's the thing. There aren't a ton of characters who have Final Smashes that far surpass others. All in all, Final Smashes usually do require some skill to pull off effectively.

I'm thinking something like Wario-Man/Little Mac vs something like Donkey Kong. It may be more balanced, but it isn't saying a whole lot.

Well Giga Mac and WarioMan can be dodged and stalled out. DK's is also far more easy to perform now.
But still, I won't deny that some do have better Smashes then others. Even so...it all comes down to who cracks the Smash Ball first, right?

Please no smash balls. Even if they were balanced, there are still some that are OP or UP.

Also, can we ban Paper Mario and Tomadachi life? Paper Mario's boat section is like Wind Wakers and the Bowser Part at the end is much too much of a throw off. Tomadachi life is too big.

I will remove Paper Mario. Tomadachi Life is not really a stage that causes issues for any particular character, however. It may be big- but its not Hyrule Temple.

Well, you CAN dodge it, but I meant that if it did connect, it'd basically guarantee a kill because of how strong it is.

You can't have a stage selective to individual characters. It's either in, or not at all. It'd be dumb to prevent Pikachu users from playing on it. The point of a counterpick is to give the losing player an advantage on the stage they chose. If you don't like it, you can always ban it.

CP'n is a genius concept imo. It allows players to both choose a stage that they're "ok" with while avoiding stages they hate. <3

You shouldn't have removed paper mario. If someone can't adapt to a stage change then what are they doing playing smash bros. in the first place?

You're not too late at all. The registration isn't even open yet and won't be for a few days.

It's because that stage causes a huge disadvantage for a ton of characters who lack a decent enough recovery.

If Thunder is an issue for you when youre on the ground, Tomadachi Life isnt making it hit you its you not being able to dodge.

Pikachu's thunder is and always has been deathly obvious, only really working if youre in the air over him or he called out your movement and you got smacked by its explosion at the end.
I dont like Tomadachi Life for the sheer fact that the floors are SO CLOSE TOGETHER lol
