SPEED: Fox vs Sonic

Ok...I think we are all getting running speed mixed up with CHARACTER SPEED now.
Sonic runs and walks much faster than Fox ever did.
However, his attacks are still about Mario-level in speed.
Fox is still a faster character overall. He's easier to control, and his attacks hit harder and faster than Sonic's do in terms of startup and lag.
Metaknight attacks faster than either of them, but he lacks the mobility of Fox.
Balance for balance, Fox is still the fastest.
And no, Captain Falcon's attacks were kind of slow, so he wasn't the fastest in the game.

Sonic is way faster. Did you see that video where he runs across the stage to KO Donkey Kong? I forget which video it was, I think it was one of the Japanese commercials. It almost looks like he has a bunny hood, but he doesn't.

Sonic is faster, sakurai said/ wrote it and Fox has been slowed down, so there you got your answer.

Yeah, I kinda figured that he was going to run faster...why the frack wouldn't he? It's frickn SONIC THE HEDGEHOG! Mr. Blue Blur himself. BUT...anyone with "Smash" sense would think that control would be an issue, whether it's zooming right by an opponent, or floating into the air like he does in his own games. Also, I think the attack speed would offset the attack strength, meaning he might be one of those "poker" characters. You know, jab here, poke there, then KERBLOOIE...Smash Blue Stew. So in closing, Sonic may have more flat out speed, but Fox's speed and moves should be WAY more controlled and balanced, possibly still making him the go to guy in terms of the speed game.

i unno man. if you watch some of the youtube videos of sonic he looks pretty **** fast...not sure how fast his dash is but his moves looked super quick with short knockback. and he has a wicked recovery move so he seems like he should be the ultimate combo character

Sonic is known for being the fastest VG character. fox's are known for being fast.

To put it simply... Sonic's speed exceeds Mach 1 and his was awarded the title of the fastest VG character. Fox is WAAAY below Sonic's speed. In other words, Sonic is faster

dunno if someone has told you this already but fox wasnt fastest in melee. CF had the fastest dash. and there are some tourney videos that show sonic's speed. he has the fastest dash in brawl

The only reason sonic is the fastest in brawl is because captain falcon decided to take it easy this around.

Well I think they made the right decision in making Sonic the fastest character. He's all about speed and I don't think it would be right for Fox or Captain Falcon to be faster than him.

Sonic was never really the fastest in Melee (behind both C. Falcon and Sheik I would say). As long as his attacking speed stays up I'll be happy.

After some testing, I found that on Big Blue, Sonic WITH A BUNNY HOOD can run slightly faster than the F-Zero racers. He is BY FAR the fastest character in the game.
Yes, I mean he can run ALONG THE ROAD on Big Blue. You can KO yourself by running off the right hand side of the screen.
The only thing faster than Sonic with a Bunny Hood is Wario's Final Smash (Wario Man) using his Smash+B Bike move, which is RIDICULOUS.

Sonic might be faster than sound, but Fox moves faster than light during Fox Illusion. Fox is faster than Sonic.

If fox's illusion lasted forever then he'd be faster.. but because it ends and has lag sonic still may be faster than it.
