Format: 1v1 and 2v2
Date: 9/15/07
Time: 2v2 warmups, 12:00 noon, first match at 1:00pm! 1v1s start immedietly afterwards!
Cost: $15 per person, per event! ($5 venue fee + $10 into the pot)

PLEASE NOTE: Casuals are included in the tournament fee, but are not free for everyone else! If you come to freeload on our TVs you will be warned, then removed from the store!

EACH PLAYER IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO BRING THEIR OWN CONTROLLERS TO THIS EVENT

Rules:

1. 4 Stock
2. 8 minute timer
3. Double elimination brackets
4. Best 2 out of 3
5. Best 3 out of 5 in semifinals (winners and loser's finals)
6. Best 4 out of 7 in finals
7. No items
8. No in-game coaching
9. Maximum of one minute of coaching allowed between games

Stage Selection

1. Both players will elect to ban a stage from the available selection of stages. If a stage that is banned is randomly selected, the game may be restarted before it starts.
2. If both players can agree on a stage to play, that will be the stage played on the first round. Otherwise, the first stage will be selected at random from Pool A.
3. If the match is doubles, Fountain of Dreams and Mute City are banned from the selection.
4. Counterpicking is allowed from any stage in Pool A or Pool B. See Counterpicks for more details.
5. No stage may be used twice in a single set.

Counterpicking

Since each set is to be played best 2 out of 3, here are the following counterpick rules:

1. The loser may select a stage from Pool A or Pool B, as long as it is not a stage that has been previously played on in the set or a stage that was banned by either player at the beginning of the set.
2. The winner may select a new character.
3. The loser may select a new character. The winner must select his or her character first.

Glitches/Stalling

1. Glitches used to stop your opponent from controlling their character or indefinitely freezing them (Mewtwo's Soul Stunner, the Ice Climber freeze glitch), or any glitch or trick that freezes the game or makes it unable to be finished are banned and will result in the immediate forfeit of the entire match, and possible disqualification from the entire tournament.
2. Tactics such as Peach's Wall-bombing and Jigglypuff's Rising Pound are allowed as methods of recovery or to maneuver around the stage. Using them (or any similar tactics) to excessively stall a match, such as dropping below levels intentionally and stalling underneath, is banned. If by using one of these tactics, you have put your character in a place to lose a stock by ending the tactic, a judge may force you to stop and lose a life and continue the match short a stock.
3. The use of Wobbles is BANNED.

Disqualification

• An entrant may be disqualified from any match if they perform any action above that merits disqualification, or by exhibiting poor sportsmanship, as judged by our staff. In the event of disqualification, there will be no refunds.

2nd Place: 30% of the pot
3rd Place: 10% of the pot

1st place will also receive an official Planet X T-shirt

$10 of each players entry fee is added directly to the pot.

In other news, this is my FINAL Smash tourny at Planet X. I'm am leaving the company at the end of september, to pursue my dream of being a radio broadcaster, true story. I'm starting up school at Specs Howard in October. Smash and Brawl tournies may continue at PX, but its very unlikely that I will be involved.

It's been a wild journy, since my first Smashtacular. I went back and read that very thread, and if someone told me that the people posting in there would later become supporters of the ST series, well, I would say that they were crazy. Outright hostility, threats, downplaying... all of that helped make the ST series what it has become: a highly anticipated contest between the very best that Michigan has to offer. I hope that the ST series has helped the Michigan Smash community what its like today.

Am I done with Smash forever? No. With my new schooling, I will have more free time than I ever had before. And with the advent of Brawl, well, anything is possible. I plan on holding my own independant tournies in the future, because I do enjoy doing it.

I'm not exactly sure of what day of the week the biweeklies are going to be on, but I'm guessing it's going to be Saturdays, unless there's an important football game on that Saturday, in which case it goes to Sunday. On that note, it's the Notre Dame game next Saturday.
