Yeah, Planet X ftl indeed.

Someone go poundstall with jigglypuff on the projector for every match until whatsisname admits that his rules suck.

He cant even change them. Way to go.

Anyone who has an interest in coming up and hanging out with me instead of going should let me know. Thats my last day before I leave for Colorado.

I'm mad I went to planetX and it was closed early >=|
Whaa? When was this?

I see how it stands. One of the best in the state refuses a challenge from a local champ. One can only imagine why he may have done this. Especially if its such an "easy win". He was so adamant in us changing the rules and the way we run out tournies, then when I give him an opportunity to do so he backs down. Interesting how that goes.

Ito, you no longer have me to blame. Dope apparently cant be bothered to change something you and he feel so strongly about, so your cause no longer has a defender. You are welcome to come down and try to change them yourself, but I could understand how you wouldnt, after all, our tournament is for serious competitors only, and casuals such as yourself probably will not have any fun. I could see how you would be worried about going 0-2 and dropping, and you know, to be perfectly honest, I wouldnt have any fun being in that position either. If I were in your position I wouldnt come out at all. But I do think it is fairly noble of yourself to throw a smashfest at your house for the more casual players, to give the less competative people more playtime than they would get at Planet X.

I think we should all take a serious look at the example that Ito is laying before us, for it is a hard choice we all have to face. "Do I go out to planet X and get rocked 0-2 and throw my money away to all the serious competitors who come out? Or should I go to Ito's house, and have more fun playing with items on and friendly fire off, and get more controller time with the rest of my buddies from around the block who play occasionally?"

I appluad you Ito, you are truely the champion of the less fortunate players of this game. Heck, without you, there would be no safe haven for the more casual crowd to gather together and have a great time. Bravo, Ito! Keep running towards that distant horizon --that horizon called skill.

Indeed, Closing early for the win! Its very profitable, I've heard.

B46L3 says:

Your Halo tourney's suck, your SSBM tourney's suck, Firebrand sux, goodbye.

That is all.

Edit: You suck at arguing, just for the record. Way to go.

Zomfg, I'm totally a noob, wtf. I'm not competetive, huzzah. Since I'm so casual you want to money match?

If you're trying to say you're so pro why dont you come to a tournament? No wait, this is a tourny for serious players only. Never mind =)

EDIT: We open at 3 normally. Starting on May 30th we will begin our summer hours, and open at noon.

Hence why Dope wouldn't want to attend such a crappy tourney? I've heard he's not serious at all.

Edit: I've also heard that Dope has taken sets from KEN but that means nothing huh?

Dope? Oh, yeah, he's only, what, #1 in the Midwest Power Rankings and #9 in the national power rankings. So casual that this tournament is way too competitive for him.

I'll still take you up on your little challenge, though.

yeah see that's why i said it's not worth dope's trouble.

firebrand, if you're hosting a "professional" tournament, it's very unprofessional to denounce the skills of players. you want people to come. you apparently only want skilled players to come. we are those skilled players.

no offense firebrand, but from what i can read from this thread, i could 3 stock you easy. so yes i'll take you up on your challenge. any money on the side? : )

and btw, Ito is pretty **** competitive (and fuxing funny). he'd be landing those waveshine usmash combos on you all day. ; ) haha.

edit

upon closer inspection, i could 4 stock you easy. : |

If I had a ride I would so come to this.

I find nothing wrong with the rules, venue price, or competition. You guys are blowing it way out of proportion. It is apparent that this guy has never even fathomed professional play, and I think we owe it to him to leave his mouth agape from begining to end of the tourney.

By the way, what is wrong with charging half venue? Is it a crime for a business to want to make profit for providing a place to smash? What is the deal with a low-pay 1st place? Seriously, like any of you were expecting to win.

hahahah, this whole topic is freakin drama and really funny. Firebrand713 is obviously going to pwn since he's a local champ which means sooo much. Not that I'm the local champ in Traverse City... It's too bad I can't go since im definately leaving monday for Traverse City for the summer. I'm definately not driving from Traverse for this tourney either. By the way, I've been to a tourny that charged $5 for venue. There should hopefully be only 1 venue fee if the player is participating in both singles and doubles which would total $15. If not and your chargeing $10 for both, than ya it's sorta a rip off... Oh and fountain of dreams shouldn't be played for doubles, wheres yoshi's story(I mean come on, yoshi ftw) yoshi's too good :), you mean to tell me that if i beat someone with my yoshi i can't change to my fox to mess em up... I can also be kicked out at any time for going in and talking s*** to people cause it's inappropriate. oh, there just isn't the smash spirit without smack. lolz :)

what are we in 4th grade and hes mad we wont come play with his barbies in the corner? son we got GI joes in the real smash scene, no time for dolls. i already came and won both the tournys i attended, and watched you get owned by a character who you thought wasnt any good, and the character isnt good because you can only L cancel 1 of his moves ROFLLL ***** got beat in slow motion. and how shocked you were that people were better than you, every time i see that look on someones face a flower in a belgium meadow blooms, because a noob came to the realization, "hmmm, maybe im not teh uber best i thought i was OH NOESSSSS". sure Ito might go 0-2, but at least he can....well your right hell probly go 0-2 if webster shows up again LOLLLL jk ito =p. but ito doesnt care about going 2 and out, he knows the competition thats around, hes there to jus get better. and firebrand, no one in right state of mind ever plays with items lol, your really showing your professionalism by slandering my crew, people who actually take the time out of thier life to go chill with ppl and play a game they love for fun, $, and to just get better. you on the other hand will never get better =/ and you have to deal with that, not us, so i guess you really get the shaft on that end of the deal LOL. its ok tho, you have fun with it, thats what counts.

For those who dont want to read through 4 pages of silliness, let me summarize the conversation so far.

Dope plays smash. Thats pretty obvious. Firebrand also plays smash, and throws a tournament at his job. Dope cares so much about the way we run our tournaments, he desires to argue with the tournament organizer to get the rules changed. So the organizer responds by saying "Come beat me in smash and you can roll our next tournament however you please". And what does our dear, venerable Dope say? "No, your tournament is stupid and I'm not coming out no matter what."

Why might this be? Afraid of his reputation being tarnished by losing to a "scrub"? If its such an easy win, I dont see why he doesnt take the opportunity to silence me and prove that his way is right when running tournaments, and maybe win some money while he is at it.

Whatever the reason, instead of meeting us on such a reasonable ground as that, he decides that he would rather bash our company and downplay his inability to meet a challenger head on. Interesting how that goes. Somehow, it seems to be our fault that we hold a tourny and he doesnt want to come simply because he might lose a challenge.

EDIT: Stop posting so freakin fast. There are no restrictions on any of the techniques you may use in our tournies. But if you are jumping through the ground and things like that, I start getting concerned. SWD or magnet grappler all you please.

Dope is even good when he loses at Beerpong. Firebrand, you will be destroyed severely by Dope in ways I can only describe as slightly pornographic.

Lain-- If you could do that it would save me the trouble of walking.

EDIT: Joel's G&W 3-stocked my Falco.

Planet X, I hear that your projector screen has about 6-8 frames of lag, and yeah, the only reason i can play on my 65" tv at home is because it's old and doesn't need to upscale (even then i play in squarescreen format). I think i've been in this situation before. There was once this nubcake in ohio who worked at a gaming center. There center was charged w/ the task of setting up a smash tourney. They had a horrible rules set (not as bad as yours, they didn't have memory cards so only the starting chars and stages were available). There ruleset was also "unchangeable". We played on their WOW HOLY CRAP 54" HD PLASMA WIDESCREEN TVS w/ 6-7 frames of lag. Do you know how hard it is to shffl/ drillshine infinite/ multishine/ RSHDL/ anything technical?! on screens like those?! Well, back to the story: I ended up beating this nubcake, but as it was there tournament, it was apparently rigged, so that nubcake ended up ahead of one of the players on my crew that he shouldn't have. This was in southern Ohio for the record. I didn't have to pay for that fortunately because UofM paid for it since it was part of the ACUI recreational tournament. And you want to charge $5. Most official tournaments charge a $3-$5 "venue fee" for any participants who don't bring a TV & game setup. I would most likely come if i was allowed to bring my tv & cube (which is a 21" non projector laggy tv, which i would also be glad to record and post vids from) and only pay $5 and get to play on my tv for each of my matches. Most guys in this thread (lain, malice, randizzle, bigy, etc..) have played on my setup before (@ UofM) and will attest to its superior functionality over any projector.

On a better note: Lain, i've transcoded your matches into uploadable sizes, and will upload them soon.

Edit: Actually, after checking the calendar, I believe i'm celebrating some family event that day in canada. So as much as i'd like to improve their venue w/ my tv&recording , i really cant go, although, nubcake, i might still be up for your $10 challenge next wednesday.

Where do people keep coming up with this rediculous rumor about projector lag? Especially since said people have never attended the center and have never played on it. The projector is fine, and has hosted many Smash, 3rd Strike, Gulty Gear XX, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 and Fight Night Round 3 tournies on this projector with NO COMPLAINTS (most of these tournies go on every month btw). And trust me, 2d fighting gamers are WAY more finicky about lag than any other player group. In addition, I did mention that you are welcome to bring your TVs and Gamecubes up, as the center will only have a projector and one TV hooked up.

And please, before you complain about our venue fee, remember that Dope was given an opportunity to change it and decided not to take us up on the offer. The blame no longer rests on me, my friend.

I was challenged by Ankoku and Anther today. I beat Ankoku 6-4 and lost my first challenge ever to Anther, going 3-8. My record as far as challengers goes is 15-1 at the moment, and seems to be growing higher every day. I cant wait to see you on wednesday Scotu, but I warn you, nothing burns worse than hubris.

Dope is even good when he loses at Beerpong. Firebrand, you will be destroyed severely by Dope in ways I can only describe as slightly pornographic.
I'm glad to hear it. But as I have mentioned at least once before, Dope probably has a mouth of his own and knows how to use it. Remember that when you go speaking for him. Oh, and in order for him to destroy me, he has to come up first.

P.S.: I have yet to see anyone lay out a ruleset for us to use in this tourny. If you are so fed up with our ruleset, I would love to see a well thought out response as to the rules we should be using.

Oh, and here is a report of the challenge I got from Ankoku:

Ankoku came out, and boy was that a good time. I actually didnt know it was him at first, he was so quiet, but I managed to get it out of him. He actually brought Anther with him, but I will talk about Anther in the next post.

Final Results: 10 matches played. Zero 32 KOs, 6 wins. Ankoku 33 KOs, 4 wins.

Zero's MVP: Shiek, 3 wins
Ankoku's MVP: Shiek, 3 wins (I think, I cant recall)

Highlight of the hour: Ankoku chain grabs arent bad at all, but I think my favorite part of the hour was when I picked Link against Shiek. "Link??" was all he could say, with the most mystified look on his face. I won that game, but it was all friendly and everyone present had a good time, I think. We were all laughing and carrying on anyway.

And then I was up against Anther. Oh baby, Anther's Pikachu was something else, and his advanced techniques were more expertly performed than I had ever seen before. He confided in me that he only came in case Ankoku lost, but it was a good thing he came along. I always relish a challenge. On to the results!

Final Results: 11 Matches played. Zero ?? KOs, 3 wins. Anther ?? KOs, 8 wins.

Zero's MVP: Luigi, 2 wins

Anther's MVP: Pikachu, 5 wins

Highlight of the hour: I'm gonna get your Nana!

You read right folks, I was finally dethroned as undefeated champion of the Planet X game center. I am proud to say that I was never 4 stocked, but it came close several times. Also to Anther's credit, after he beat me 6 times consecutively, I did ask to have him play other characters, and then I started to win a bit. Good matches were had by all.

My record as it stands for challengers is 15-1. I'm not going to raise the ante yet, but I'm still considering doing it. Thank you all who have come out and challenged me in this game that I love, I hope to see all of you again in the near future.

--
I had fun playing. Its always fun to win rite rite?? :D???
I have to say.. there is a slight lag on the projector. I got used to it towards the end because luckily its really low, but it is there. Not as bad at all compared to some HDTV's I've played on(Like 10-12 frames wtf were they thinking), but about equal to the projector at Eastern... which is about 2-4 frames off.

But yeah, I liked the set-up at planetX... I'm curious to why gamecubes can't be hooked up to all those other tvs that had Xboxes and other systems that aren't gamecubes that people don't care about that are lying about =o...
It seemed like people could bring in about 4 more cubes and you have a real smooth tourney on your hands =p.

There was definitely lag from the projector, Firebrand. I being rather insensitive to frame-timing, didn't notice it, but definitely felt the effects of it in my failed chaingrabs (50% breakout wtf) and L-Cancels. I might've been better off sticking to my Roy's practiced L-Canceling and Peach's automatic Float-Canceling than trying to make Sheik work.

I have and have seen others successfully chain grab on the projector, and I never had any trouble L canceling, but I digress.

Rainbow cruise in the random list? Why is that? Just curious. Anther next time you come out I would love to discuss those rules with you.

And if you happen to have the adaptor, feel free to bring it up. Otherwise, its not possible to hook gamecubes up to computer moniters. Its not a common adaptor either, I never saw one when I was working at gamestop.

Actually I don't think it should be on the list... I think that it was Sheepy's doing XD... Randoming rainbow is never cool >=/.

And for doubles instead of FoD I've seen DK64 turned on, otherwise if no one complains it doesn't really matter. Otherwise... yah.

MLG had rainbow cruise on random select. But that's not what i'm posting about. Anther beat you, you could probably change the rules/ entry fee now to his liking (and the rest of ours). 15-1 (now i know ankoku is in there) but how did you manage to trick 14 roll dancers to fight you and pay to do it? Whatever...

Hey, Randizzle, Ankoku, Lain, Anther, whoever else is going to planet x to kick the **** out of nubcake, i can go, but need a ride. (unfortunately i can't bring my tv/ vid equipment though).
