Sounds silly... but I need to fix this

Ok...

So for some reason whenever I try to shine bair / shine dair someone, when I shine I don't jump out of it... I know why though. I'm both pressing Y and pushing the joystick up + in the direction of where the shine will take my enemy (very slightly right or left) when I do it, and often just turn around in my shine... that's no fun :( So basically I'm coming to you for advice... how do you perform your shine bair? Do you just use the jump button to insure no mistakes are made? What about the analog stick? My success rate is right about 50% and no matter how long I try to just "get over" my bad habit like I do most of my AT's, it won't go away, and I'm not getting any better at it.

So if someone would be so kind as to provide a step by step and if need be frame by frame example of how to perform this, that'd be great.

if i'm on the ground i use Y to jump Oo shine but if i'm going for an aerial shine-bair, jump wth Y then shine the jump out of it with up then C-stick to aerial

try doing it in like stages eg
1. Jump
2 press Down+B
3. press up + c-stick left/right

each of the stages you can pretty much do instantly, admittedly you have to C-stick 1 frame after pressing up but chances are if you try to do them at pretty much the same time the C-stick will come out a bit later anyways

If you are facing right its normally considered easier to shine-bair as you can press B with the tip of your thumb then just move your thumb left and the ball (main part of it) will press the C-stick

Also important is make sure you go straight from down on the control stick to Up through the neutral position, don't 'roll' it around the side or you will press right/left and may turn around

I think your doing it too fast. Remember when you hit something with your shine you can only jump out at the 6th frame and >/= 6. You should wait a few hundred milliseconds more before you jump out of the shine, atleast 500 milliseconds.

I definitely agree with this. It's much more likely that your going too fast and THEN turning during the shine than turning in the shine for a situation like this.

Just try to really recognize the timing and don't get caught up in what you are doing.

well you begin the jump animation on the fourth frame - thanks to the JC shine guide

1st frame - the attack comes out

now we'll just suppose that you pressed the jump button on 2, 3, or 4 in which case the jump will start on frame 4

frames 4-8 - the jump animation lasts 5 frames, you'll be airborne on the 6th frame of your jump

in the air i'm fairly sure you can jump out on frame 4 so leave the shine on frame 5?

you leave the shine the frame you cancel it (4 being the earliest)

after that is your jump animation

double jumps happen on the first frame

I do the same exact thing while trying to shine-dairbair, i just never realized why. I think arc might be right though, attempting it too fast might be why. Either way, It's a habit. if it's your control stick moving to the side, then just train yourself to make it go 100% up, or if its your speed, slow it down. any habit can be fixed. just remind yourself alot during matches when you're about to shinedair/bair.

I use the control stick to jump out the shine too but was wondering if other people control the direction you face by pushing slightly towards the direction you want to face as you push up? I wasn't sure if there was better way or something to control that since this was just something I kinda started doing on my own but seemed to be working fine.
