This may be the reason I'd get a PS3. The gameplay looks amazing, and the character models just look insane!

I agree

At least Link, Spawn, and Heiachi from Tekken were from fighting video games....
Spawn is from a comic series, created by Todd McFarlane (who also designed Necrid just for Soul Calibur, what a nice guy:))

I was going to call out on Link, but I remembered Super Smash Bros.

Darth Vader and Yoda just....do not fit!
I'm sure they will explain. I think Darth Vader could fit in very well, but Yoda....THAT'S a stretch. Why not get a character from a different series, we got three guest characters from different series' with SC II...

Well, ****. If Soul Calibur hasn't gained a reputation as an oddball fighting series, it certainly has now. Link and Spawn were arguably weird additions, but, from what I've played of the GameCube installment of SoulCalibur II, Link still fought like he belonged there.

On another, more lulzy note:

ZERO SUIT SAMUS FOR SOUL CALIBUR IV!

(Sad thing is, with all the girls running around in tight jumpsuits already, she'd fit in perfectly.)

Because Soul Calibur 2 didn't or anything. Everything that ever happened in fighting game history is because of Smash. I forgot.

lol true, and SC didn't even stick to gaming (Spawn) but at least we like had the totally out of place characters first [at first you gotta admit we were all like SNAKE!? but now he's grown on us]

if third party characters are making a comeback that i expect to see 3 SFEX chars in SF4, thus triggering the creation of SFEX4 and making my life complete

Everyone knows that the first major crossover was Marvel Superheros vs. Street Fighter
That was just Capcom throwing together two of their games.

And SF:EX was terrible. All three of those games. Rival Schools/Project Justice is a much better 3d Capcom fighter.

In SC4, I'm serious, I'm tired of Taki and Ivy taking the spotlight.
Taki and Ivy probably take the spotlight due the the obvious "physical" power, and because they're much more interesting.

On a gameplay standpoint, Talim takes the least skill to perform well (I'll admit I was beaten by a noob mashing buttons and performing basic combos). Taki, (while not being terrible hard to master) is my female main, the wind roll and possession lead to many varied and powerful attack (especially with a Soul Charge). Ivy, of course, is the hotnes...er, hardest character to even use adequately, mostly due to her combos requiring many inputs. I'm sure that Talim will return however, she isn't (too) cheap, and doesn't break the game.

I guess thats true, if it wasn't for Vader appearing, this game would have probably slipped my mind, considering they took out Kilik as well. Why must all the good characters go? Seriously, get rid of Astaroth or Voldo

I'm sure they haven't been revealed yet (because I doubt Kilik would be taken out). It's the same deal with Brawl, they show new and returning characters every so often.

... no.

... no.

I'm sorry, this just isn't right. You know ... I don't know, SC is a Japanese influenced game in style and production. This ... as much as I love Star Wars, I don't like this. It tickles me in the wrong way.

It's almost like they can't take themselves seriously and this is a joke.

I think you guys who are upset about the Star Wars characters are making a big deal out of nothing. Who cares if Star Wars characters don't fit in? It's just a game. I'm sure that they'll come up with some sort of story for them, explaining why they are there and why they're after the Soul Edge sword, for people who care.

You guys sound as stupid as the people who complain about 3rd party characters being in Brawl.
