I think that if we put casino zone, Ice cap zone, and a Greenhill zone all in one it would be amazingly fun! ^^

I find it kind of Ironic at how 3 people with mario avatars posted in a row on a sonic thread.
Back on topic:

If there was a sonic stage, I think it would have to be the green hill zone, because it can be used as two things.
1: A stationary level with certian special features. Maybe one of those signposts that changes the picture as each character crosses it.
2: A storymode level with loop-the-loops and going fast and stuff.

Of course, you could say that about all the zones in sonic the hedghog. The casino zone could be used too.

I think Green Hill would be a nice side scroller too but not a really great stage. I wanna see a stage use Live and Learn as bkgd music so I think something like ARK would be a good stage.

actually, considering the theme they played in the "sonic enters brawl" clip, I think that Sonic's stage might be something related to the Sonic Adventure series (which is ok too since Sonic adventure and adventure 2 were great games... everything else after that were really disappointing)

Yeah! They're bringing back a bunch of old school (hyped out) sonic stuff for brawl. Did you see his edge stumble? It's like the Genisis games!!

I love how Sega and Nintendo are like... best friends!

Well if you ask me (by the way I'm Sean, pleased t'meet ya), the 3D games were okay still after Adventure/Adventure 2. They weren't GREAT but they were alright for that they were in my opinion.

As for stages I was tossing around ideas too. I figured it would have to be something that was a constant in at least some of the Sonic games. So here's what I came up with:

The Deathegg [Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles] - Maybe have Robotnik in one of his huge robots trying to smack around the fighters. Or maybe play with the gravity.

Angel Island [Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Technicaly Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2] - Typical island stage, which could just be this next one...

The Master Emerald Shrine [Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic Adventure, Technicaly Sonic Adventure 2] - Maybe have Robotnik screwing around here too while stealing various emeralds for something big to happen which resets the stage. Not sure what, but possibly use the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald as platforms?

I think Sonic has a couple of cool options for levels in Brawl.

1) The iconic Green Hill Zone. With its unforgettable music and lush background, it would be a blast from the past on the magnitude of the Mushroom Kingdom levels in the previous Smash Bros.

2) Death Egg Zone(S3K)/ Crazy Gadget(SA2). Gravity-switching ftw, as some say. It could be a level where gravity randomly switches at specific intervals, or there could be triggers that players could activate. Add moving platforms so that you have to direct your landing carefully, and you have one interesting battlefield. Death Egg would be better in terms of music, while CG is if you're going for a more recent feel. Heck, you could also go for the Ark from SA2, if you don't mind taking a few creative liberties to get access to some of the more awesome music (Final Rush, Shadow's Crazy-Gadget-Ripoff-Level-Whose-Name-I-Have-Forgotten-but-was-totally-awesome-in-fact-that-
game-had-an-excellent-soundtrack-in-general-too-bad-it's-been-written-off-already).

Heck, as long as they put a ton of excellent remixes in, I don't really care WHICH level they put in.

Same here, now that's Sonic's been officially announced, I'm only really waiting for Marth's confirmaiton, also because I really want the game, but that's the main reason why I check the updates now anyways...

Considering Marth's game is being remade on the DS, I'd say that's a VERY strong indicator that we'll be seeing him back. I hope he returns as well, he's my favorite character.

eh, marths ok......wait back to sonic, all of sonics moves are taken from his sprite days.....so a stage (most logical) would be green hill zone)...

I would only want a Green Hill stage if the music came with it (Ah, I love that tune...). Since Live & Learn is a song in this game, I'd like to see a Space Colony ARK stage. They go hand in hand. But I really want to see a Station Square (is that it?) stage, the overworld from Sonic Adventure 1 (I also like that music). I imagine it being a flat stage with cars going back and forth through the stage like that one Mother stage in Melee.

Oh gee, I wonder what could POSSIBLY be Sonic's stage? Oh that certainly is a tough one. I wonder if there's the slightest off-chance possibility that it will be, oh...

THE GREEN HILL ZONE?!?!

...As if it weren't obvious enough. :dizzy:

Green Hill or my personal favorite, Chaos Zero. Fighting on the highway above a flooded city while Chaos Zero shoots stuff at you. Maybe you could even fight on top of Chaos. Also, Pumpkin Hill 4TW.

It would be an affront to the history of the Sonic franchise were they not to include Green Hill Zone in some form or another. If I recall, that is supposed to be where Sonic lived. It holds the same reverence in the Sonic fandom as Mushroom Kingdom holds in the Mario fandom.

For a possible second stage, I would go with something more recent. What might that be? Can't say, I stopped playing after Sonic 3D Blast!

Green Hill. Or some form of it.

I will be genuinely surprised if Sonic's stage isn't Green Hill.

In Sonic Adventure 2 (correct me if I'm wrong), there was a super-difficult-to-unlock 3D playable level of Green Hill Zone, basically as a fan service for people hardcore enough to like get all the medallions or something like that. This is a good indicator of how iconic the level is, and how it is synonymous with Sonic as a franchise.

What people suggested before sounds cool though - if it was a generic 'Sonic' level that scrolled from like Green Hill Zone to various areas (or just different parts of GHZ). The scrolling could work like when Devil scrolls the screen, only it wouldn't move back.

Green Hill, no argument, no contest.
It's just so...obvious.

I am in the same boat as you, my friend.

He'd have to have some sort of Green Hill Zone stage. Still a part of me wants to see a Casino-themed zone, they were always so bright and decorative :p I guess it's not entirely unlikely since he'll most probably get atleast two stages, but still, Green Hill Zone would have to come first.

super happy fun land
I'm kinda hoping for the ice zone, it would be hard to really make it different enough considering ice climbers are in the game, but I LOVED that ice zone, it was so smooth, and you got to snowboard down a mountain, and there was a whole bunch of cool stuff to explore too, AND it had some of the best background music of any sonic stage ever.

That or the high concept "last level" zones, most of which are in space.

BRING US THE ICE CAP ZONE! Also, I hope/expect to see robotnik (btw, I need to write a letter to sega; HIS NAME IS DR. ROBOTNIK NOT EGGMAN ****IT [no I don't care that they're actually different people and related, give me back my favorite childhood villan] ) in his floating maching with the wrecking ball, that's super classic, to the point of being referenced in other sonic games.

also, ICE CAP ZONE please T-T

Green Hill Zone seems the most logical one, since it's the most recognizable one. But personally, I'd love a City Escape or Space Colony ARK stage.

I'd like both Green Hill zone and a casino based stage.

Whats stopping him from making two sonic stages?
