Don't give SEGA credit for Sonic Chronicles, that would go to BioWare. They only made a good choice in picking them to design the game. Now Sonic Unleashed, that one looks promising. I think the whole Werewolf gimmick is down right ridiculous; but hey, maybe it can work out. From what I see so far, Sega aims to try to make this like the Sonic Adventure games. Come on SEGA, don't let us down this time.

Sonic on the rise? Bah!

More like Sonic on the rebound. Lets not count our chickens before they hatch. It seems SEGA is trying to breathe life into a series that has been struggling with finding its identity and clicking with the fans. What can you do when the original formula flops for x, y, z reason and you're looking to re-establish good will with a fanbase? :)

You think outside the box, bring in an outside developer for one game and tweak the old formula for the other. WE will see how that pans out and if the results are favorable, look for SEGA to make a sustained effort to keep the series on that track.

You're almost ten years too late for the 90's, pal. Sonic had his rise, and now he's up near the top. Albeit, he has gotten a lot more competition since 2000, but hey, if two new games allow him to keep his throne of fifth place or wherever he is, then good for Sega. Now we just need Nintendo to make another killer-app Star Fox game.

Sonic 3 was the last "GREAT" Sonic in my opinion. From there its been going down hill. Sonic Chronicles could be promising since BioWare is working with it.

I really enjoyed sonic Adventures on the DC, but otherwise, I agree with everyone. After shadow the hedgehog, I pretty much gave up. The game was kinda fun, but it was not good by any stretch of the imagination.

Personally, I'd like to see another good 3d sonic console game. My only problem with Sonic Adventure was that it was too easy. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was fun, but it didn't bring enough to the table for me. The sonic and shadow levels were fun, but the rouge, knuckles, eggman, and tails levels were far inferior to the Knuckles and E-102 missions in Sonic adventure. Also, there were too many of them.

Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog both have one fatal flaw in their departure from previous sonic games: enemy health.

In previous sonic games, the enemies never took more than 2 hits to kill. It'd be "jump on it and it explodes" or "jump on it, and it goes into some 'weak state' and then you jump on it again for the boom." Or spin-dash into it, or homing attack towards it, or something like that. That allowed for the blistering speed of the sonic games, no one enemy took any time to kill, so you could burn through thousands of the little buggers. Having to hit any non-boss enemy a substantial amount of times to kill in a sonic game? Unacceptable. I haven't played any games since Shadow, so I don't know if they fixed that particular problem yet. Not saying the games would be perfect otherwise, but that one thing really really pissed me off.

Have you ever tried playing Pokemon? I'm sure those games will be more to your liking. :)
