Sakurai has really outdone himself with Sonic, as he’s come complete with old sound effects (skidding! spinning!) and music ripped straight from Sonic Adventure 2 (which thankfully is one of, if not the best song from the game)</p>

<p align="center">His moves are a spinning dash, chargable (most likely Down Special) a fast falling kick move (similar to Kirby’s Brick, but diagonal), one of his grabs is similar to Jiggs, with grabbing, knocking them to the ground then spin attacking on them. Also it appears his Up special might be creating a jump spring.</p>

Some things I've noticed from the trailer:

Looks like a return of a Brinstar stage, which has been a classic throughout the series. In that pic with Charizard breathing fire, you can see a lava flow in the background. There's also a futuristic-looking floor. That's not proof by itself, especially since I don't remember lava *flows* actually appearing like that in the other games. With just that information, I'd be more inclined to go with another area from Metroid, like Magmoor or some parts of Bryo. However, if you look very closely, you can see the traditional Metroid "cells" in the background.

Also, when the Ice Climbers are seen, you can see an Aurora Borealis in the background. I'm betting they're on their stage.

Also, there's a Fusion Suit Samus trophy. All they'd really have to do to make it playable is make a couple vertice groups. It's a really simple job. I'm betting on alternate costumes.

Lots of different things to pick out from this update...

Most of note, is that my friend and I just called Crush 40's work in the game like, literally hours ago when talking about other vocal songs.

I love how he's complete with old school sound effects, but I'm completely puzzled as to why the Spin Dash's wasn't included.

The downward dropkick has me puzzled. Zero Suit Samus has a move EXACTLY like it. I'm wondering if this is, perhaps, a move being implimented for characters with a down special that has no effect in the air? Such as, the Spin Dash.

Edit: So I'm thinking, up special = Spring Board. Down special = Spin Dash. Standard special = Spin Attack. Forward special is still up in the air... Final Smash is obvious.

I'm hoping they shed light on the release, like, quick. When I saw the announce of the release date delay for japan on IGN's blog translation, I thought it entirely absurd that game was being delayed so far only in japan. I'm extremely curious what the reasoning is behind the delay. I hope it's to increase the roster size and not add more Subspace stuff...

Oh, and multiple taunts! Yay!

Edit: Knightcrawler reminded me of those two stages which I also picked out. I'm also willing to bet they're Metroid and Ice Climber stages, respectively.

Actually, a LOT of characters seem to have lag removed. Look at Peach dominating in the start of that first video. She lands an air move and immediately does a ground move. Things are seeming to be quite different this time around.

HOLY FLYING CRAP! This whole time I've been pretty disappointed with the new characters. I knew I'd play Snake no matter what, but none of the others really got me. I NEED to have Sonic in my arsenal. He looked awesome and definitely looked top tier. With his speed and apparantly short-as-hell lag time, I'm guessing he's going to be a freakin combo machine!

So far I've got Snake, Samus, and Sonic. Maaaaybe Pit. Now all I need to do is add YL/WW Link, Ganondorf, and Captain Falcon, and I'll have the most awesome arsenal of characters known to man.

Oh and if the release date is pushed back I'm going to need to kill a few random strangers in order to feel better.

He looks to be pretty good, but I'm willing to bet all that speed comes at a price, he probably has weak moves or is very light. sadly I won't be active, I really joined just to lurk and learn from the masters here, I'm far too stuck into WoW, along with other nerdy pursuits to spend the time to master SSBM, but I did finally grab it, a gamecube controller, and a memory card now that I have my wii. Pit's icon is number 18, MGS 17, Wario 16, and Animal Crossing is 15.

Before that is Ice Climbers at 14, Game and Watch at 13 (I'll bet anyone any-thing- that that's a true statement), and FE at 12, etc down the list.

So 19 is missing as is 13. As I stated, 13 is required to be Game and Watch because 13 is required to be number from a returning series. The only one applicable is G&W. For 19, it has to be a new series. Any guesses?

19 cannot be Advance Wars or Castlevania. Take note that the franchises are ordered in two ways; by Smash title and alphabetically. From Melee onwards we have:

12 - Fire Emblem
13 - Game and Watch
14 - Ice Climber
15 - Animal Crossing
16 - Made in Wario (WarioWare Inc.)
17 - Metal Gear Solid
18 - Myth of Light: The Mirror of Palutena (Kid Icarus)
19 - ???
20 - Sonic the Hedgehog

... so, Pikmin and Rockman (MegaMan) are both valid guesses. #19 has to fall between the letters My- and So-. Demon Castle Dracula (Castlevania) and Advance Wars don't fit the criteria, unless they consider Advance Wars as Nintendo Wars...

What's kind of bonkers is they sort them by their name as if it were literally translated from japanese, though not the actual japanese spelling (otherwise, Ice Climber would be before Fire Emblem).

Also take note that the group of 64 characters makes almost no sense as some of them appear to be listed by character and not by franchise (most notably Fox).

That almost works. A few fail at the sort. Starfox (03) only works when used as Fox, and then 04 is Kirby and 05 is F-Zero or Captain Falcon or Falcon. Either way, before K. Then Mother (07) Pocket Monsters (08) and Zelda/Legend of Zelda (09) but with Mario / Super Mario next (10) and Yoshi (11) I might be missing something there. Then yeah, 3 new series would fit there. And the rest sort of makes sense. At that point, what all would qualify to be series 21? Anything?

Also my friend says Nintendo Wars is most appropriate to it.
