Imagine that a bunch of people are watching someone else being subjected to a slow, painful death, and are completely helpless to do anything about it. What reaction would you expect? Horror, terror, feelings of worthlessness, or most likely some combination of the three.

Now imagine that that 'someone else' is replaced by a known psychopathic murderer. Now what reaction would you expect? Chances are a lot of people would be considerably less horrified, and some might not even care at all, because the psychopath in question is 'non-human', 'a monster', 'doesn't deserve to live' etc. etc.

In other words, considerably more people become psychopathic when regarding people who are psychopathic. Think about that a little...

A lot of people would still think it's inhumane.

I'd be apathetic both ways, purely because if it's out of my hands, there's no real reason for me to get upset.

Well the true definition of a psychopath is an individual who feels absolutely no emotion whatsoever.

They're not necessarily going to be "bad" people just because they feel no emotion, although of course, it helps doing certain things when you literally feel nothing.

People wouldn't turn into a psychopath momentarily, they'd just use the "known murderer" thing as their justification as to why he deserves to die, imo.

Wherever you want me to be... If you're female.
I'm with Teran on the whole "if they're dead, they're dead" thing.

If there is truly nothing you can do then let them pass gracefully and mourn them later (or not).

And of course most people would have more of an aversion to an innocent dying than a "non-innocent."

If Hitler was stabbed to death in front of me I probably wouldn't care less.

Honestly I'd have Hitler as my PR man, he could perform all my public addresses...

I don't think that Hitler actually was a psychopath tbh. He almost certainly had a severe mental illness of some sort, since he had very, very, very, very warped views of the world, but he seemed to genuinely think that he was doing something good, 'purging' the country of its 'evils', and he has shown very faint glimmers of compassion albeit in totally the wrong places. So yeah, he was definitely insane and a total monster, but not really a psychopath.

Hitler was heavily medicated for both phisical and mental illnesses and the combined with his effed up view of the world turned him into an even bigger monster than he would have been if he wasnt on so much crap. He would still be messed up dont get me wrong, but just not as much. I personally would like to go back in time and gouge his eyes out, choke him with his own intestins, slit his throat, and punch his jewish mother in the uteris for ever giving birth to him and have no remorse about it. That does not make me a psychopath, but then again if i did that to an innocent child and still not feel anything it would make me one.

I don't think people would enjoy watching anyone being slowly and painfully killed. It's not an enjoyable sight. I wouldn't enjoy the sight of Hitler being sliced open any more or less than I would Gandhi.

However, the feelings regarding the person's death would be different, yes. I don't think that makes someone a psychopath.
