I was playing in a simple offline vs. cpu match
Rob uses Side-B, so he would hop on the ground a little in the animation right?
Wrong, Instead, as he landed he slid across the stage while doing side-b,
Anyone care to explain this one?

I did that today also. It's useless, there's not enough time to make anything out of it.

The most I could think of it doing is using it for mindgames when your opponent is scared to approach you....Which doesn't really happen when fighting a ROB.

This was found a while back. Pit has something similar, it's just all about starting the Side-B at the right time in the air. We never figured out the timing cause it's effing useless for ROB.

I find its uses, but mainly because I know when to use it. I play regular friendlies with a few people, so I know when they won't expect it and such. I also find it great for mind games.

I can do that perfectly. I'm currently trying to cancel the side-B while sliding the short distance to do a smash. Not going to well. :/

Unless we can find a Copter-Cancel, I'm pretty sure it's only use will lie in copterhopping. On that note, however, ledge drop > copterhop onto the stage > time it for the slide....That might have its ridiculous mindgames for no reason.

I wish it didn't exist. I don't know how many times I killed myself trying to reverse-upB and doing side-B instead.

oh god the side-b suicide
i hate it so much because to stop using the **** attack you have to press nothing at all...which does not constitute a proper response to most people.....so it's extended into a death x-x
now and again i use the attack for mindgames...but there's just always a better option

Side B has two situational uses from what I've seen.

There is the reflect a REALLY obvious projectile that will do significant harm to your opponent. Yeah...

And then there is do a rising Side-B from either a fullhop or midair jump, and you will get a pretty massive vertical boost...like it matters anyway. ROB's recovery is pretty darn good anyway.

Do you have any vids? I would love to see some practical usage.
I have no vids of me playing because I do not have a vid set-up and I am too lazy to set one up (also I think my roommates would think it would be hilarious). I just sometimes does it out of nowhere at medium/close-up range and lengthen it. Most players will think I won't use it for very long, so they just shield the whole thing since the range is just long enough to prevent shieldgrabbing but the knockback is negligible. And then they'll either drop their shield or I'll actually have had enough shield damage to poke through, and usually the damage is negligible, like 6%.

Or I do it from really far away to bait them into coming in. I rarely do that though.

Pretty much the best thing to do it for is Pikachu's Thunder.
