-When Anne insists that she has to go home, Sasha outright cuts her off before she can finish speaking, dismissing her disagreements as annoying. She becomes frustrated and sternly tells her with a raised hand "Anne, this isn't cute anymore. We are meeting up with Marcy right now. End. Of discussion" She actually glares at Anne while saying those last three words, and her attitude is further emphasized by the camera zooming in on her face, with everything but her eyes quickly becoming shrouded in silhouette. Anne is visibly shocked, even somewhat nervous, because of this, so she reluctantly agrees " I guess it's okay if I'm a little late...", prompting Sasha to revert to a more cheerful mood and drag Anne to the thrift shop where Marcy found the box-

Sprig thinks he has common ground with Sasha as a result and states "Hey, I'm her bestie too! I guess that makes me your bestie-in-law", which gives him a chuckle. Sasha is visibly unamused and just condescendingly asks "Does it?". This gives Sprig an extremely fearful and despondent frown and actually causes him to cough and ask if anyone else felt the offense from that statement. Basically in Madoka Magica one of the big plot twists is that the monsters that the magical girls fight, called Witches, are all former magical girls that fall to despair and as a result become monsters, and all the protagonists are still prone to becoming Witches as a result. This is all intentional from Kyubey's race part as they literally create energy from their emotions from all of this to stop the eventual heat death of the universe.

Grime insists that this is the case, claiming that despite his rough exterior, he really is just an "old softy". Sasha looks at him while clearing her throat after that, signaling him to smile to convince the crowd further. The result is one the most fake-looking and intimidating look smiles ever, and it causes the crowd to gasp and a tadpole among them to cry-

-Sasha pushes him off the stage after that, and asks if Wartwood's ready to party at Toad Tower. The crowd remains silent and, in a clear sign of just how much the town has come to respect and trust Anne, Mrs. Croaker asks what Anne thinks of the matter first-

Anne casually asks if the Plantars can come along as well, and Sasha is initially silent, but still claims she doesn't mind in a more cheerful tone-

-Sasha, who now serves as the 1st Lieutenant to Captain Grime. then shows Anne her own banquet selection, which consists of traditional Earth foods that the tower's private chefs have prepared specially for Foods like hamburgers, spaghetti, salad, french fries, pizza and even just perfectly ordinary ketchup are all among her personal banquet, and Anne is overjoyed at the chance to eat some food ffrom home again...even more so once, as she notes "It just occurred to me that I've been eating bugs for three months..."-

-Meanwhile, the party seems to be going well, most guests are enjoying food, Polly is trying to talk to a huge toad guard about weapons, Mrs. Croaker keeps slurping cups of punch while repeatedly stating "One more" and "last one", and Hop Pop is gathering up as many crab legs from the buffet as he can because they tend to go quickly, but Sprig suspects something is up, pointing out to Hop Pop that all of the toad guards are visibly on edge or nervous. Hop Pop dismisses it as nothing to worry about, reasoning that they're a militarized culture that doesn't know how to let loose, adding that he's not surprised by this-

Hop Pop dismisses it as nothing to worry about, reasoning that they're a militarized culture that doesn't know how to let loose, adding that he's not surprised by this-

Sprig seemingly agrees, much to the guard's relief and gratitude, even giving the guard a thumbs-up signal...and then suddenly starts using a plate and a crab leg as cymbals while yelling "HEY EVERYONE! THIS IS A SHAM! We're not guests, we're prisoners!" This is enough to start a terrified riot among the denizens of Wartwood, while the guard sweats in fear-

Oh, absolutely. And a lot of the animated shows that followed them have managed to get arguably even darker.
