It's actually NOT a color reference. Probably hints at the Vanille family being against this whole "name for the sake of colors" thing, but I don't wanna speculate on that yet.

Also, it's apparently a very old-timey name that isn't used anymore and actually references her show self, since it's based on the word "trivium", which is Latin for "place where three roads meet". It's close enough to the ice cream flavor :V

It's also the name of a Roman Goddess, so it shows a connection with Roman Torchwick. RWBY's writers are on point with their naming game.

Another thing that's known from it is that her father abused her because she's mute.

With that, and comparing it to what's known of her backstory so far, it's no wonder she wants revenge for his death so badly.

More than anything I'd hope it would explain things for fans who aren't aware of the novel. It's good to have context in the show itself as well, should it add anything significant to the story, and I think this is significant enough to be in the show proper.
