Why don't we just make a tournament rule that when your opponent trips, you have to let them get up before continuing the fight?

No.

Doesn't happen enough to really matter. And plus, you can get up fast and roll backwards if you need to.

It's probably better to accept it. Sometimes you can't help hitting them hard (like starting your charged attack, and the opponent trips into it). And while tripping is annoying, is it really such a large problem that there would have to be a rule made just for it?

Because not everyone will follow it, and when they don't they either be falsely accused of doing it on purpose when it was an accident, or precisely accused if they did it on purpose. Either way, its not that big of a deal...really.

Somebody getting punched in the face during a tournament game doesn't happen very often, either. That dosen't mean you shouldn't have rules in place in case it does. And if you trip and get hit with a charged attack... tough. I didn't say it was foolproof.

It would be really hard to stop attacking if they trip. If someone is mid-attack they can't stop, and a lot of times people don't notic someone tripped until a second or two after it happens.

The bottom line is it would just be way too hard to reinforce, and if they did reinforce it strictly by punishing someone for attacking someone after tripping, then it would be an unfair advantage for people against someone who trips, and not the tripper themselves.
