If you read the conversation you'd know the Aussies were well aware they were breaking rules

Can't blame you for skipping over though

@ballin. Your comment about not coming close to scoring 90% of the game makes soccer boring would suggest that scoring goals or at least coming close to scoring is proportional to how interesting sport is. It's not about how many goals you score but rather the way they're scored. It's a simple case of quality over quantity.
yes, scoring makes a sport interesting. after all, it's the purpose of the game and the only thing that affects the outcome of the game. and when 90% of the play of the game has no impact on the outcome because no one is even threatening to score that is boring.

when the quantity is SO low the quality becomes irrelevant. also the vast majority of goals that actually get scored are not really quality they're just dumb luck.

i mean look at the chelsea barcelona match from today. it was a 2-2 final score (ties are absolutely atrocious to have in a sport btw, and aggregate scoring over 2 matches is dumb as well) which is pretty darn high scoring for soccer. and yet the teams combined to put a grand total of 9 shots on goal. that's one shot on goal every 10 minutes. and that's consider a freaking OFFENSIVE soccer game!

and the thing is, if i knew 5 goals were gonna be scored on average I'd want to watch. but there's way too big of a chance that the game ends up 1-0 or god forbid 0-0.

the chelsea chip shot goal was awesome though

@ballin. What if, in a certain sport, the aim was to score goals and it was so easy to score that the score lines were 1000 - 1500. That would not make the game interesting. It would just get boring seeing goal after goal after goal. What I'm trying to say is, the aim of sport isn't ENTIRELY about trying to score goals, its also about reducing the amount of times you concede goals. That takes intelligence and tactics. Soccer employs both defense and offense with perfect balance IMO

I played soccer in high school and Ballin' is absolutely right. I played midfield and a big part of our offense was getting us midfielders on the outside and setting up crosses. Our conversion percentage was probably close to 2%? and most of that 2% was from the ball pinballing around until chance had it fall onto one of our forwards' feet. We hardly EVER had a legit cross to header that was clean.

We were pretty good too. I enjoy playing soccer but I hate watching it.

basketball is kinda like that and it's still interesting. sure, many of the points that get scored aren't particularly exciting but you can still see the strategy involved for both offense and defense. also the end of close games in basketball is very exciting.

although part of that might be the rigged rules that ensure more buzzer beaters (timeout gives you the ball at halfcourt in the NBA is pretty lolwut)

wtf how was I snitching nerd. I'm down with the homies

It was something that you Aussies put in plain sight for everyone to see. I was under the impression you guys didn't give a ****. Looks like despite the act Pete is SCURRED of dem moderators. Get on Cheers's/ciaza's level.

Don't ever say I'm snitching again. You can't just throw around serious accusations like that.

how in the hell is goon ****? it's quite possibly the best alcoholic drink there is!

and mana bar cannot be mediocre, it's a bar that you can play videogames in! the concept alone makes it an 8/10 straight away. and if it is bad we can just rock up with our nintendos and play smash there.

Seriously?

"Discussion about engaging in drug and/or alcohol use is not allowed, regardless of a user's age or laws in his/her jurisdiction."

I will begin giving 3 point infractions if this continues

You know I'm pretty lenient, neither you nor Cheers have been banned for this crap.

If you want to talk about your alcohol expeditions, you can do so off of a public forum which has rules (which you are obviously familiar with) against it.

I'm not taking away anything you ever had.

You think you have it hard? Da popo got da real hard life. Real talk.

Context is important, obviously. When it comes to legal medication, the general key term in its legitimacy is 'abuse'

I don't want to begin this semantics debate. You guys know what not to talk about

People sippin all that haterade for me doing my job. Gosh :embarrass:

my bad aa, it was hard enough finding the image as it somehow got deleted from my hdd

and yeah, but krynxe is partial to pointless anime banter, as he watches the most pointless anime in existence (yuru yuri). so at least i'm comfortable knowing i'll never get infracted by him/her for that

i'm on a respectable 0 so far, thanks to work + uni

i'll probably end up only watching something like the second season of kimi to boku/puzzle time or maybe something stupid like nyaruko-san

which i'd be completely ok with.

rofl ciaza knows what's up

But I mean, an anime with a point is silly. Yuru Yuri is sort of the best show ever. Also a-channel is awesome

the last few posts is more-or-less typical of the social thread, everyone is used to aa and i destroying threads with anime

@aa, your first line has probably already sent dean downloading all released eps so far

if i told the me of 5 years ago that i'd become an animefag, and my favourite music is japanese, synthesised, computer-programmed music personified as a 15 year old girl with blue hair i'd probably have killed myself too

i take full credit and/or blame for turning you into you

and yeah whenever both ciaza and I have any interest in a thread whatsoever one anime-related jab derails the whole thread

index is great, JC staff not so much

also: chinatsu sucks, akari is the only character in that show i'd want to have even slight association with

*moefist*

and nar, in order to change your name you have to request it personally, and i couldn't figure out your password. however, i do know dean's password... hint hint

chiayafuru hasn't been confirmed for another season, but there's no way there can't not be one, surely

We'll see, the show wasn't nearly as successful as I'd have liked it to have been. As most people, I was pretty surprised that Madhouse supported animating such an unsuccessful manga. I'm not only glad, but give them huge respect for it.
