I think since they (supposedly) have a good track record, I have no problem seeing it as legitimate. What I do see a problem with is taking more than 5 seconds to decipher an esoteric hint when I can wait for a more reasonable insider to just say it, as most do. The problem with hint leaks is it unnecessarily riles people up and gives some false hope. If that insider didn't have Geno in mind when using that as a hint, they should feel bad for all the Geno fans' hearts that are gonna be crushed (and if they didn't have Smash in mind, even more bad on them). And makes no sense why Banjo & Kazooie would get an easy-to-guess hint, while a black bird is used for another.

I don't think there's anything more to the "hint" than it just being a bird, I don't think we're meant to look into it's breed or homeland or whatever

they hinted banjo with just a picture of a bear and a bird, they aren't subtle

The closest to a hint leak I'll accept is Shinobi's--it's obvious what he was referring to. And even then, there was a furious debate and full of doubt nitpicking every little detail and possible alternative.

The catch 22 nature of these hints is what puts me off more than anything.

If the picture by chance didn't wind up being an actual hint, but has anything even slightly related to whatever they were implying to know about, then whatever doubt existed is instantly erased and turned into "it was obvious all along/I never had any doubts to begin with" (that's how I view the crab/Link's Awakening hint)

Not saying insiders don't have real info from time to time, but there's just such little point to posting something like this other than to enjoy the show that only fanbases like ours can put on ("____ in the clouds"/green pixel/ponytails, etc). We'll know soon enough; history repeats itself/it's hard to look away from a trainwreck.

Regardless of how difficult it is to decipher the hint, I don't think it's fair put all of our anger and frustration on him if the character ends up being someone we don't like/didn't expect. The thing about these picture hints is that they are vague enough that it can be interpreted as nearly anything. It could mean Geno ("Star"-ling, etc.), but it could also be Velvet Crowe (bird motifs, "Why do birds fly?", black bird, etc.), Nakoruru (who fights with a bird), or Ryu Hayabasa (birds are the enemy). One could also make the argument for 2B as well, since birds are the first animals that are seen in NieR: Automata.

People might be also looking into the bird too much. It might be a metaphor (this character will come from the sky, or literally land into Smash).

It could also mean we are focusing on the wrong detail in the pic and the hint is for something related to rooftops. Or it might not be a Smash hint at all; it could just be a general Nintendo Direct thing. It might mean a Bird Simulator game in a Nindies segment or perhaps a Star Fox game.

The case in point is that we can only identify the full context of the pic in retrospect because of how vague it is. People should avoid putting too much into what it must mean unless we get more information.

I should clarify that it's less him, specifically, and more leakers in general who take that tact. It comes across as troll-ish, smarmy, and for some of the more high profile insiders, comes across as attention seeking. For me (and to get a bit philosophical), it comes down to what is the purpose of leaking in general? If it's to let people know in advance (to gauge interest in a character or to temper expectations), then that's noble, but only works if they're up front and clear. It's also noble of those who know, but say nothing to save the surprise for everyone. If it's a case of "I know, so I want to show off that I know, but don't actually want to give it away" then I feel it's best to just ignore them.

Why everytime we start talking about a female character, someone asks this? It's probably the least interesting thing you can discuss about a character, when there's personality, role and moveset potential.

Disconnects are a recurring annoyance in Splatoon 2, but they can sometimes lead to funny situations: like when 3/4 of my time and 3/4 of their team disconnected in Clam Blitz, leaving a one v one scenario

Or when everyone but you disconnects in Salmon Run: okay, it's annoying that it's a guaranteed loss and hit to your rating, but the sheer hopelessness of it is kinda funny
