Guys, can we cool it with the embeds a bit? So many quoted videos make it hard for everything to load for me. Mobile pain.

These news almost brought my depression back.

Good lord, don’t let Frozen 2 be a commercial failure.

I don’t want to see a boring live action remake of my favourite Disney movie while new animated movies slowly dissappear from the Western film industry.

Why the **** would you even want to make a live-action adaptation of Nightmare Before Christmas? And how?

I mean, no big deal, I'll just not watch it, but seems really unnecessary.

I guess we’ll never have another Princess and the Frog... real shame

Can’t believe that was in 2009 too, a whole ten years ago

This somehow manages to have even less of a reason to exist than every other live action disney remake.

Instead of making a sequel to Enchanted (a live action Disney movie I enjoyed) or Rogger Rabbit... they are going to mess with my favourite animated Disney movie.

This sucks, a lot.

Let it be said that I don’t hate the idea of Disney making live action productions.

Some of my favourite Disney movies are from that style, which include a few of the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, the Tron duology, Enchanted, the first Mary Poppins and **** Tracy. Also wanting to see Mary Poppins Returns because of Emily Blunt.

However, I despise the fact that Disney is right now only focusing on live action remakes of animated movies even when they aren’t needed at all as in the case of my deeply loved Nightmare Before Christmas. While I despise how they are doing this with their animated stuff, I would also be as furious if they decided to remake Tron 1 into an animated form since it ruins the whole “real world people into the world inside of technology” deal.

I want Disney to make original ideas instead of quick remakes of old stuff and not much else.
A world where Disney only makes remakes would be awful for me.

But really every time I go to the movies with my friend's little brother and sister I enjoy the movie so much less than if it was with just me and her.

It sucks her mom sticks her what's them. Because then me and her can't do what we want to do

I don't mind the live action recreations as much as other people do, I mean, before these chain of live action recreations, Disney wasn't exactly releasing big hit original concepts, so I'm not even bothered by that.

What I am bothered by is that they chose TNbC. A movie that part of its charm came from its design. I don't understand that in the slightest.

And who's ****ing idea was it to make a movie that's part horror a live action? Are you nuts? I don't want to see Sally jump down a tower and burst into straw with her limbs flying off. The hell with that.

Watch The Hunchback of Notre Dame get a live action remake too while we're at it.

Apparently it has one coming? Literally anything can be live action nowadays.

Is it just me, or is Disney Animation Studios slowly getting better and Pixar slowly getting worse?

Growing up, Disney Animation had a lot of "good but not great" movies. There was Home on the Range, Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, Bolt - all good movies, but not exactly memorable either. Pixar was where it was at. Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Up - those are the movies I enjoyed the most.

Now I feel like the tables have turned. In this decade, Disney Animation has made Tangled, Frozen, Zootopia, and Moana. Pixar? Cars 2, Monsters University, Inside Out, and The Good Dinosaur. Even more recent films like The Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4 feel sub-par.

Alright, for those live-remasters, I can understand it's for money.
This makes the least sense in terms of a business perspective and animating perspective. As much as I hate to say it, there are more iconic films and movies for Disney to re-master.

I'm not contributing all of their success to Rich Moore, but if they do end up on a downward slope in the next decade, that means both Disney Animation and Pixar are gonna be pumping out forgettable films that are nothing new and nothing special. Illumination will have Despicable Me 7 and Minions 4 by 2027, Dreamworks will continue to scramble around like it's been doing in the past five years, and Sony will pray that it's lucky enough to have one decent movie like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Maybe animation really is dying.

I know already they could never hope to recreate the aesthetic of The Nightmare Before Christmas in a live action remake, because part of that aesthetic is thanks to the use of claymation giving everything an extra unsettling vibe which worked perfectly with the world of the film and Tim Burton's style. Hell, I think they could have Tim Burton direct the live action remake and he himself wouldn't be able to recreate the atmosphere without claymation.

Don't forget the Super Mario Bros movie :^) ... it's gonna be ... s-super

Miyamoto, who's supervising the project, supposedly loves Rabbids, i.e. the proto-Minions.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

I’m sorry but that doesn’t belong in the “examples of getting worse” pile.
I think it does. The concept was good, but the plot of the movie was poorly executed. A majority of the film is fluffed with scenes depicting what the writers envision the mind to be like. No character development takes place in those scenes, and nothing extremely important to the plot is there either. You could probably cut out almost 30 minutes of those scenes from the movie without losing anything meaningful. Compare that to The Incredibles and Finding Nemo, movies where characters are constantly changing and the scenes are so juicy to the plot that you can't afford to walk away for more than 5 minutes without missing something important.

Don't forget the Super Mario Bros movie :^) ... it's gonna be ... s-super

At the very least, Illumination has a good track record with making a profit. Hopefully this encourages Nintendo to experiment with more of their properties.

Didn't forget. I just didn't feel like listing them all.

I find cars and finding Nemo overrated.

Nemo was good and fun but nothing crazy. Cars was just cars. It was enjoyable but I also never really cared for the franchise.

Up is a masterpiece. Coco was fantastic. I haven’t watched either but,

Incredible 2 and story four are being incredibly well received, so I really don’t think you can say either are poor quality compared to Disney animations lately. Which those have been good. It Pixar really isn’t putting out low quality content

Agree on Finding Nemo - it's a beautiful film, but I never found the story or characters that engaging

And Cars is just a bizarre idea
"What if toys were alive", "what if monsters lived in their own societies" and "what if superheroes had mundane lives" are all interesting questions, but has anyone other than John Lasseter really thought "wow, what if cars lived in societies?"

I've seen both Incredibles 2 and TS4. Incredibles 2 isn't even comparable to the first one, and TS4, regardless of whether or not you think it's good, is easily the worst of the four films.

After seeing the reviews for both movies, I'm wondering if Disney is paying these critics to leave good reviews, because I feel like I saw a completely different movie from what the critics saw.
