Ryu was the final boss of an official Family Guy flash game of all things, I don't think Capcom would be so stingy that they wouldn't allow him to be used in another crossover game. Cloud is more questionable, but that has more to do with dealing with the rights revolving around FF7, not because of Smash.
I’m fairly certain that Nintendo currently has the rights to use both those characters in their platform/mascot fighting game and as long as they have the rights to use those characters in their game or until their contract expires, they’re likely contractually not allowed to appear in a similar game, especially from a rival company. Look at it this way, you know how LEGO once had the rights to make Spongebob and TMNT sets but once the contract expired, MEGA Bloks took up the rights and now LEGO is currently not allowed to use that property? I’m pretty sure it's the same thing here.

With Sonic in mind, I really want to get around to reading the IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comics.
Been collecting them since they started arriving to Spain and they are really worth It.

Characters are written very well, the art is very nicely done and the new characters such as Whisper or Tangle are very likeable.

An easy reccomend from my part.

Will definitely get around to it. The digital comics service I'm using is up to issue #20 right now.

But I want to finish TMNT × Ghostbusters first.

"In the updated version of the series, the titular superheroes are now disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?"

:sakbanjo:
CW creating an unnecessarily edgy series based off a beloved property? Didn’t see that coming.

First of all, sorry about my post from yesterday. Been feeling like **** over It because I feel I overreacted way too much.

Anyways, just wanted to share that I've been considering taking out all my Crash/Spyro stuff and selling It to replace It with a SEGA collection where It once was:

sees P5R, Sonic Mania Plus, and Sonic Colors

Except we don't know how the rights are set up with those characters nor do we know how long a hypothetical exclusivity deal would even work with them. For example, the game Megadoomer mentioned for Terry (Fighting EX Layer) was released in 2018, a year before Terry released on Ultimate and probably the same year he was negotiated for considering how long Banjo was cooking in development. If such an exclusivity deal was struck with the former, then Nintendo shouldn't have had access to him for Ultimate as the game is still active, yet he was still allowed to crossover into both games regardless. Ryu and Cloud can be the same, hypothetically they may not have any exclusivity deal in place or just have the deal last as long as DLC does, which in either case would allow a Playstation All-Star sequel to get the characters by next year.

Exec 1:" Well, our recent PPG reboot was a dud... How can we win back the fans?"

Exec 2: "Obviously, they've got no time for kiddie cartoons anymore... I know! Let's make a gritty live action series, and have it set many years later to show the characters have grown up with the audience! "

Exec 1: "I like it!"

Except they likely don't have that kind of license. A merchandising license like Lego is usually long term like you described. But video game guest appearance licenses usually only apply to that one specific game they appear in and nothing more. The kind of license you are describing CAN happen, just look at Spider-Man and Star Wars, but it's usually for making entire games based around that one franchise, not single occurrence guest appearances like Smash.

I mean that’s also a different style of fighting game from Smash, that seems less of an issue than something like PSASBR, which is basically a direct competitor

Dude. No company would do the kind of license you're describing for a single use guest appearance. If Nintendo were making Fatal Fury games long term, then maybe. But a long term exclusivity contract for one appearance in one game? They're not gonna do that because it costs way more then just buying a one time license for this one appearance in this one game. That's like paying for the insurance on a $300 muscle car that you are renting for the weekend. Why would you do that? Just buy the cheap limited plan the dealer is offering.

I'm not sure how Powerpuff Girls would work in live-action, part of the charm is the stylistic nature of the show as it lends itself well to the characters and the action on-screen. That's not something I feel can be carried over well into a live-action setting, and unless you have a good team behind it that would work their hardest to carry over that nature you may end up with product that lacks the character of the original.

I'll admit though, I'm a bit bias since I was very underwhelmed by Lion King for similar reasons, and from what I've heard I doubt the project is being made with the love and care it needs.

I remember when the Powerpuff Girls reboot started airing in Spain back then (I think I was 16) and I thought to myself "maybe there can be some good things on this show".

Then I saw the Powerpuff Girls twerking with a bear and I wanted to die both inside and outside.

Never again have I tried to see that **** fest again.

I'm not entirely sure if I should call this wholesome, weird, cursed, or a combination of them all

Why on earth can't there be a Zoom app on Xbox One? I have a Kinect and it would be so much more convenient then using my phone or laptop.

Ok. I know why. It's because Microsoft owns Skype, but like... my class isn't on Skype. I can't load the zoom call with skype. It just blows.

I’m just saying that Nintendo would run the risk of losing the part of fanbase of that character and franchise that prefers other consoles if they allowed it so they can appear in similar games while they’re still profiting off Smash.

Not really. Nobody's gonna not buy Smash because Snake joined PS All-Stars. Smash is Smash.

Don't hold your breath
Well yeah, they’re teens there, at least the PPG with be twenty something.

It would likely sour relations between Nintendo and Konami, and Nintendo loses out on getting that part of the MGS fanbase interested in Smash and Nintendo in general, likewise PlayStation will lose out on those interested in Snake since he’s already in Smash at the time. And how many people are gonna buy both games for one character?

I've always wanted to explore the lives of CN characters as adults. But not the way this show will do it. CW shows just... they have a tendency to not be good, but they get even worse when they try to implement large amount of special effects. They just don't have the budget for it. It really should be going to like, HBO.

It's not really like that though. Single characters don't make or break a fighting game roster. It was never "no wolverine no buy" it was "no X-Men no buy". It's not, "this game has Metal Gear characters!", it's "this game has Metal Gear characters, AND Sonic characters, AND Street Fighter characters, etc". It's the whole stew that sells a meal, not any one single spice.

:D Wow, you really got awesome stuff there, JD! XD Definitely a lot more than I do. As you probably saw I only got my BIG Silver plushie, a small kind of damaged and de-colored one (xD He stopped half way into turning Super Silver), the tiny poseable figure that right now is ridiculously priced for something so small (and I regret not having taken Super Silver), and a Sonic ball.

Ok, but Blossom twerkung is not something I want out of a reboot, regardless if she's 5 or 20 something
Eh. Twerking isn't trendy anymore. It probably won't be in the show regardless.

Like, the only times I've heard someone even mention Twerking in the last maybe 3 years was people talking about that Powerpuff Girls episode.

I recently saw a really cute Classic Sonic plushie at a store.

Really want to buy It for the collection.

:3 Awww, that sounds great! :D It is up to ya', really! xD I always try to get whatever I can manage when it comes to characters I like, let it be figures, plushies, toys and stuff. Unfortunately, some doesn't have some stuff (Like with Shay, that I only got the statue, articulated figures, and planning on saving for the one I dreamed of, but doesn't have a plushie and I will have to learn how to make one myself).
