Just shared this on the projects thread, but I wanted to share here too.

I need some help with my animated series a bit. So I’m working on streamlining my magic system more and I need help of coming up with ways to manipulating magic that relates to different parts of the body, like a charkha kind of deal as well as using magic items to help cast that magic with. For example I have a character who’s magic is concentrated on her hands and manipulates magic through drawing using a pencil wand and one who’s has it focused on his throat and can use song and vocal abilities for magic using a cane that turns into a microphone.
How about a character who channels magic through their stomach, but the only way to release the magic is with a mighty burp?

I mentioned this before but I’m so tempted to just tease and hint as many potential pairings as possible with my series and just let the shippers wage war on each other, though at the same time, I’d also like to try to write some genuine romantic relationships and develop the characters and story involved in a meaningful way. I’m a bit torn.
I mean, you can do both. Whatever you do, even if you show a ship becoming canon, the fans will hold onto their own headcanon no matter what if they have one or will go along with what you have presented as fact. I have seen that myself with many fandoms. And I myself have my own ideas and go along with others just because I find them sweet, canon or not.

See you folks soon.

Imagine if Bruce Campbell did some sort of Smashboards tutorial with his typical humour and mood.

It would be the most glorious thing ever.

I think I just had a flashback of childhood memories of being sick in bed with nothing to do but watch Baby Looney toons and Tom and Jerry because I couldn't find the remote and CN refused to show anything else.

...And those Shirley temple and Zoobooks commercials.

I want the Ridley commentator just so I can hear constant screeching until it becomes white noise, signifying at that point that I've indeed become completely detached from reality with no hope of return, living the rest of my days in a comotose state on another plane of existence.

I just watched the grand finale of Steven Universe.

I'm kinda at a loss for words and need a good night's sleep to reflect on the finale and assess my thoughts on it. So...in the meantime, I cooked up a
mini-review in the form of "Other Friends".

♩ That's right, I watched the story, over and over again!
Gee, it's swell to finally see Steven make up with his friends!
That's right, I watched the story! Really did like how it ends!
Gee, it's swell to finally see Steven make up with his friends! ♩

♩ What did you say about them? What did you say? ♩

♩ What did you do without them? What did you doooo? ♩

♩ Did you play games without them? What did you plaaaaaay? ♩

♩ Did you think all this time that they wouldn't be worried about YOOOOOOOOOOOU?! ♩

♩ Ohhhhhhhhh, that's right, I watched the story, over and over again! Gee it's swell to finally see Steven make up with his friends...♩

"I'm so mad it's over."

"It had six seasons and a movie, give them a break!"

"It really is over...but it can't be permanent!"

"You know this show? Can you tell me what's it about?"

♩ ...What's it about?! WHAT'S IT ABOUT? What are you even saying?!
It's the finale of the show you, didn't know was just ending!
Let's watch the end together, it's so much better than Star's!
Drama and action! Therapists now! Ready or not, the finale's ouuuuuurrrrrs! ♩

♩ Ohhhhhhhh, that's right I watched the story, over and over again!
Gee, it's swell he finally opened up to all his friends!
OHHHHHHHHH that's right! I watched the story! Really did like how it ends!

Question:
Can magic be channeled through a toilet?
The possible responses to this post are endless. I don’t know where to begin. So make joke opportunities...

Doesn’t ring a bell, I have been out of the literature loop for a long time.
If you want my two cents, focus on developing the relationships that will actually happen. It makes the canon make more sense. Besides, your fans will form ships no matter what you do, so there’s no need to add fuel to that fire.

it’s just the right thing to do for most shows at this point...unless you’re TMNT 2012...they confirmed Apritello through an Ice Cream Kitty music video
time to get ready for a Dewey/Webby and Penny/Launchpad relationships Ducktales 2017
I'm pretty sure the showrunners outright said there'd be no romance between Webby and any of the triplets. Which I'm personally glad about.

It hasn't deterred the shipping community, though.

Shipping’s not my thing, I’ll be honest. If a relationship should happen, I’d make the assumption that the writer(s) would just... Make it happen? So in the end, it makes shipping seem futile to me. Not to mention that, at least, from my perspective, a very strong majority of the ships I see are really outlandish and make no logical sense from a story-telling standpoint.

Shipping is mostly for fun. Like most fanfiction, it's more about the content you want to see rather than content you think creators "should have" done. But sometimes writers just don't include relationships that would've make sense for whatever reason *ahemmostlygayonesahem* so fans want to try and reciprocate that.

Agreed that it usually doesn't make much sense, though.

Makes a bit more sense. I just don’t fully understand why you’d want to see that either? Like, I can understand some to a certain degree, but... Like, make believe scenario here, I don’t understand why you’d wanna ship the protagonist with the antagonist who [insert evil thing here idk]. If I were to ship, I’d be shipping the relationships that have the most chemistry as is, honestly, instead of the ones that could have that potential?

Think of it like a crossover like Smash. "Aw man I wonder what would happen if Link fought Cloud" except with romance. The potential interactions and such are fun to think about for some people.

I suppose in this case, that kinda ship belongs in the shipping thread.

Oh, ok, well that makes a lot more sense. lol I thought it was more of a “This should happen,” thing, and less if a, “What if this happened?” thing. Okkk that makes a whole lot more sense. lol

I used to ship a lot.

Then shipping wars left a bad taste in my mouth.

Later I got soured on it further in recent years with all the bad fanfiction, crack pairings, and excessive shipping many (non-canon, mind you) couples get in certain fandoms.

My stance on it came to a head after final season of Star vs. the Forces of Evil concluded, and after reflecting on the trashy series finale over several months, I kinda all but hate shipping, now. So now I pretty much only ever support ships that are strictly and blatantly canoncial. Even then, there's no guarantee I'll always like the canoncial pairing.

That’s fair, that’s fair.

Also what on earth happened to Star Vs.? LOL

I think it’s still important to realize, though, that not every character relationship needs to be a romantic one. A lot of the ships I see, I personally find work a lot better as friend relationships.

Maybe that’s why I don’t ship. I always find that I’m satisfied with where character’s relationships are nonetheless.

For now, let me put it this way: it used to be my second favorite show, period, and then that shipping drama only played one part in it's downfall that has made me so bitter about it's writing problems and led me to verbally trash it repeatedly since it ended.

Sorry, this is just something I really believe in myself. I wish more people in several fandoms had this opinion. Maybe I wouldn't, but some ships are just so damn excessive in their respective fandoms anymore that I've come to purely dislike them. Not every relationship needs to be about romance. A certain Star vs. pairing that fans shipped to death actually came true in the end, but it was executed pitifully and only harmed the show's writing and it's series finale. Nothing good came out of making the pair canon in the end, certainly not with the way they did it.

Honestly, crappy finale or not, I still would've preferred the pairing to remain friends in the end. It would've made for a more poignant ending as a testament to true friendship, as well as a refreshing change of pace.

Yeah. If you‘ve watched My Hero Academia. I can think of one specific example.

Explosion guy bullies nerd kid, but they both attend the same superhero school, so they have to learn to work together yadda yadda etc. etc.

A lot of people seem to ship those two for some reason? It makes SO much more sense to have them struggle to get along and work together when going up against threats instead of going the easy route and making them love eachother because...? Having them not be lovers just makes things more entertaining, and more satisfying for the viewer when the pass an obstacle together.

Shipping in some ways is kind of like speculation. It's something you do for fun by going to a community and talking about the media you love, and you do so by going over what information and details you're given to see if it works for a certain relationship. You then discuss with others on over why you think it may happen, or why you personally like it by explaining how the information you have ties it together. Usually it's just nothing more then talking pairing options since there are characters that you think may work well together, and talking about them can be interesting depending on the conversation.

Personally I don't really mind shipping as there's always been one pairing that I could understand where people were coming from, but it's never been a topic I've really invested in about nor do I care for some of the arguments that spring up over it.

Maybe I’m just lucky, but the only pairings I’ve ever shipped have ended up being official on the show. Except for one.... I remember talking about it in High School..... but for the life of me I can’t remember what it was.......

So after I made my joke about Drake I decided to do some research on how he's been since then.

************ moved to Mexico and became an actual citizen. I guess he has a fanbase there, who knows.

EDIT: Yeah, Mexico is bonkers for this man for some reason.

Somewhat short on breath for pass few days. Might be a result of cabin fever or stress/anxiety over everything happening right now but doubtful I have coronavirus as I'd be showing more signs like fever as such.
