So since I've come back here after awhile, I'm gonna share some more Spirit Battle inspiration facts thanks to the SSBWiki:
Link (The Legend of Zelda) - The puppet fighter of this battle being Young Link is very faithful to the youthful appearance of this incarnation of Link from the very first Zelda, and the fact that the puppet fighter wears the former's red alternate costume references the Red Ring. The hazardless Find Mii acts as a stand-in for Death Mountain, where the aforementioned upgrade item can be found in. Also, with the condition where the opponent's melee damage is increased, this facts references the Red Ring's function in the Oracle titles where it powers up the strength of Link's sword.
Guile - The puppet fighter being Captain Falcon ties in with how both characters are ace pilots who specializes in close-quarters combat, with his spirit ability being to strengthen the power of kicking moves reflecting how most of his signature moves involving kicking as well. The stage being Pilotwings in it's Omega variant references the Air Force Base, Guile's home stage in Street Fighter II.
Duo - With this battle, you'll be fighting a duo of Captain Falcon puppet fighters... get it? The opponent fighters favoring to use their neutral special a lot references one of Duo's signature moves in his appearance in Mega Man 8, an energy-infused punch attack with his giant left hand. Plus, with the condition where the opponents have super armor can likely reflect Duo's bulky design.
Magical Vacation Protagonists - With the stage choice being Smashville references how, like Animal Crossing, the Magical Starsign series centers around various anthromorphic animal characters to interact with. The enemy fighters are distracted by certain items that spawn in this battle including Fire Flowers, Freezies, Lightning, Pitfalls, & Gust Bellows. All items references the main elements that appear in this series (Fire, Water, Earth/Wood, & Wind).
Lillina - In her home series, Lillina is a mage who mainly uses magical tomes and can be equipped with the Forblaze, one of the legendary weapons of Elibe. This is referenced with the Palutena puppet fighter favoring to use side special attacks, with the move itself having a boost in damage power. The Roy puppet fighter who appears in the battle ties in with their friendship and can potentially be married together depending on certain actions done in the Binding Blade.
