I'm more interested in The Pokemon Company itself to be honest. There may be some sort of regulation in place that makes sure that Game Freak, Creatures, and Nintendo all have their designated place in the development of mainline Pokemon and that might be getting a shakeup.
Game Freak is development, Creatures is modeling and other entertainment, and Nintendo is Publishing. This could make it to where those 3 are tasked with doing those certain things and only those certain things generally prohibiting other, outside, companies from doing any of them. The Board, I assume they have a board, is likely looking to reevaluate all that if that's the case meaning that mainline Pokemon games for the future may be handled VERY differently from past games.
Like, for instance say TPC has decided that Game Freak should only be a general co-developed of the title, Creatures should only handle products associated with the product and not be directly associated with the game itself, and Nintendo continue to be publisher. This leaves a very wide, open slot for a company to handle CORE development of the title. If that turned out to be the case we could see Namco, Monolith, Square, Level-5, even Nintendo themselves take over that Core Development. Which means... Pokemon might be changing a lot.
