Lara Croft, aside from her chances likely depending on if they want to double dip with Square I realize also has some stuff to consider about her potential inclusion like which version do they go with or base her more off of as well as what even would be her music choices and such.

I mean, I think it's a bit early to jump of Lloyd if it is Tales of.

Lloyd may be more iconic to Nintendo, but Yuri is the de-facto most popular protagonist in the series, bar none.

And then Sakurai completely pulls a Roy to everyone and reveals the fifth character as Alphen/Shionne from Arise who would be the first Smash character from the 2020s.

I don’t think anyone aside from Lloyd would get in for Tales. Sakurai could change his mind, but I doubt it.

He specifically said, “Who else but Lloyd?”, when discussing the choice for Tales content for the Mii Fighter. Yuri, the popular dude, existed then. Popularity itself probably wouldn’t make a difference in that regard.

I think just the fact that Lloyd was the one on GCN, and the fact that game made the series jive with the West is what would get Lloyd in.

Plus, dual swords!

Isn't that Pokemon thing on Sunday?
Yes, all we know is its labeled the latest news, which could be a recap but could be something new too.

To be fair though, didn't Sakurai say if it was going to be anyone, it be Lloyd

I think it's too early to say 100%.

Sure, I think Lloyd would be the one, but Yuri is definitely a strong contender.

But the big question is, why would they copyright two VERY-Smash-like items.

Yes, he did say that.

God, we were all expecting a great Capcom war after the Steve and Banjo wars, but it's looking more like it's gonna be a great Namco war instead.

Put me in, you sexy beast. :p
Get me in there!
May the psychic powers of some hat a kid dropped in my Poké Ball defend me.
If we're going to do it in HG thread, sure, call me in.
Can do. However, I'll be running the Hunger Games Simulation in the same way I used to: by which I mean every participating user must nominate 4 tributes, each.

You can nominate yourself, but those who don't want to don't have to. The rest of your tributes can consist of real, historical or modern people, or fictional characters.

With those four tributes, each participating user gets one District of their own in the game. Since this is going to be a 48 tribute game, that means 12 Districts will be in the game. If you three are all nominating tributes for it, then I'll reserve your Districts so nobody else takes them.

There are no other restrictions besides all that. Look forward to it, as I plan to start it this weekend!

Still, people called Terry hat Ken. ****** think a Mishima would play similarly to Ryu. So if it was Nightmare, people would just say he's another Fire Emblem character. Which yes, that feeling in your head after reading that was a stroke.
The idea of Nightmare being compared to the Fire Emblem characters is just.....like that is Charlie Brown levels of good grief. Like....I would not be surprised if there was that one moron among the rest to say it, but Nightmare, besides looking nothing like the other Fire Emblem characters, would probably be more compared to Ganondorf due to the use of extreme power, darkness and a giant sword.

I'd say both Lloyd and Yuri are on even grounds.
-Lloyd definitely has factors for Tales of Symphonia being the start of Tales popularity in the West+being popular overall and for being well known among Nintendo fans due to his games being Nintendo exclusive for a time.
-Yuri definitely has the popularity factor, although popularity doesn't always mean guaranteed, and Yuri doesn't really have anything else other than his game recently getting re-released for Switch.

In terms of gameplay, both Lloyd and Yuri can deliver something unique, due to Lloyd having dual swords and Yuri fights with both his sword and his fists+feet. Not to mention that Yuri's moveset can also be used with an Axe and remain the same, meaning that Yuri wielding an Axe in an alternate costume is 'very' possible.

I'm also guilty of mistaking Yuri for a woman when I first saw the trailer for ToV: DE.

He may be a great character and his game the best thing since sliced bread, but his design is a little too feminine for my tastes.
