You know, as much as people were disappointed by Gen 6's games, the community sure seems to love the XYZ anime series.

Eh. I think they're pretty even in terms of songs. It doesn't help how I prefer the original P5 and P4 intros more than their remakes.

Idk how to feel about the new P5R op, like yeah the character look cool and on-model, but the animation is kinda of stiff alot of the time, that and the aesthetic of it all doesn't appeal much to me as the first OP.

Hey. This is what happens when you poke the bear like that. I hate talking about it here because it doesn’t ever go anywhere. But I dislike anime and it’s aesthetics/tropes. Honestly, if Hero hadn’t been leaked to hell and back, my initial reaction would probably have been one of frustration.

Honestly, often times, I feel like I’m not allowed to dislike something. We cling to this whole “objective quality” idea as if good and bad aren’t as arbitrary as arbitrary can be. So when I say I don’t like something and think it’s bad, I get attacked. Because I’m supposed to say “it’s good and I just don’t like it”. Which shifts the problem from the thing and on to the person, when that thing could have pretty big flaws that some people can look past, while others can’t.

I’m rambling and I think i’ve forgotten where I was going with this.

Persona 5's original OP is more enigmatic about the whole story while Royal's intro shows off everybody's phantom thief garbs and Goro beating the **** out of the city with the thieves. Definitely not as subtle as the original.

That and I'm a sucker for the red, black, and white motif.

Im not a fan of P5Rs songs atm, they sure arent as good as p4Gs songs P4 and P5s intros were great but P4Gs intro beats P5Rs intro into the ground for me

Same on the red motif, I love that ****, the new OP meanwhile has a more "generic" tone to it, like yeeeah everyone happy, even Pancake Boy.

The song is nice, but man, I miss the clapping that was done by the audience when it was first revealed way back then.

it's the same model they followed with the differences between 4 and golden

original opening is fairly down-to-earth and serious, introducing the overall aesthetic and themes of the game, whereas the rerelease is more lively and fun/fanservicey in an "alright you know the drill, let's get this party started" kind of way

the P5R intro moves around to much for my taste and there is to many damn colors in the city part. It highkey annoyes the **** out of me. that and this song isnt as good as the OG opening

Yeah. It pretty much is the Golden of Persona 5. Bear (ha ha Teddy) in mind I didn't enjoy Golden's intro because everybody on scooters and dancing was too happy for my liking.

You can have your own thoughts, but too many Smash players write off anything human as weeb. Like, Terry is more of a regular human than anime, and you can't tell me that Hero and Joker look like they can come from the same series because they're both "anime", Joker falls morw into the anime tropes of character designs far more than Hero does. And thus doesn't extend to humans. If you're cartoony, meme pick. Waluigi is a meme pick, Dee is a meme pick, Steve is a meme pick, Sans is a meme pick. Like, just say you don't want a charcter in instead of the whole meme pick.

Not calling out anyone at all, but this is something the (casual) Smash community tends to do.

You know "anime" isn't one singular entity but a huge medium with dozens of different styles and hundreds of tropes, right?

Also, Smash fanbase acts like FE and Xenoblade are anime and LoZPokemon are not, which is pretty damn hypocritical.

I don’t know. The anime i’ve seen (the popular stuff. DBZ, MHA, OPM, FT, AoT, SAO, etc.) all have very similar design choices and character tropes.
