The reason they do it is because of the reactions.

Like, every leak is eaten up and believed and defended by somebody, and that’s very likely why they’re created.

Even the Grinch leak was probably done for that reason, and it did the job. Getting a bunch of fans excited for something just to see the salt is awful, but frankly genius if one is looking for attention/entertainment.

the animation is pretty good for SFM, but its nowhere near the specs of what they use for actual smash trailers

I know we had that Skull Kid fake trailer from last year and a Porky one this year, but those were both just short segments. Is this the first time we've gotten a full on, completely animated fake trailer for a character?

Yeah, can't find it now, but it was from august-september IIRC. It was basically just 15 seconds where Skull Kid was floating above a burning town before the Fierce Deity leapt out of the fire and the trailer ended.

peach's gasp sounded like uh, an adult part of an SFM.

this was probably made in SFM. The detailed parts of the animations were really good for the slow-mo but regular speed it just looks wonky.

that part at the end with toad is still pretty good tho i gotta say

Yeah I immediately noticed this was fake upon seeing Peach's model. She's never had eyebrows of that shape nor eyeshadow.
