Last I checked, WarioWare is more popular in Japan.

The only resemblance to Wario Land in Smash is the slight heavyweight feel he has.

Though I have loads of nostalgia for Wario Land 3, my first GBC game and simply an awesome game, I actually don't mind Wario's portrayal in Smash. *shrugs*

His double jump is from Wario Land I think.
The only element from the games that made Wario popular is a jump animation. Great.

Wario Land 3 was awesome, but my favorite is Wario Land 4. Wario Land is one awesome series overall.

Yeah, but it really became popular with Smash. Still, I don't like what they did to Wario. His last real game was on Wii. It was a fantastic game, but apparently, Nintendo prefer to use him with Wario Ware.

It's just sad to see a character devolve like that. From a funny bounty hunter to an unoriginal farting guy, Wario sure is sad to see nowadays. And it won't stop, until one guy at Nintendo decides to do an other Wario Land.

The whole Mario branch of Nintendo really needs to be reworked for me, they'er playing it too safe over there. The Wii gen was just party game time and I think they sold a lot and I think they keep making them until they stop selling. I'm hoping the Wii U pick up the ball and have less shove ware the Wii had.

I don't think that's possible. There will always be shovelware. That's an inevitability, and especially in an age where the eShop exists.
