The misconception is, of course, that Ridley's size was never a defining trait of his, and claiming otherwise just shows immense ignorance.

To add to this, Sakurai himself arbitrarily decided that shrinking Ridley down wouldn't make him "Ridley" and accurately portray him (never mind the fact that Ridley's designs haven't been consistent in past Metroid games).

I still think the major problem was due to programming (may have been a problem in Brawl as well).

If it's too much, then I can understand that Toad would be much more fitting as the newcomer given he's the last major Mario character to cover. I've always wondered if Sakurai had something against him and Captain Toad alone should be enough to show him that he's worthy of being a fighter.

I would say Ridley is the second most notable character in the Metroid series, yes? Unfortunately though, his body shape wouldn't work. Size, limbs, neck, tail, wings... these are all features that Ridley was regrettable born with that have stunted his process into the Smash roster. Size, though, is the least of his problems. It's his other features that I pointed out. If we're talking size, Kraid would be a better fitting fighter in Smash. He would have a similar shape that of Bowser's. But wait... he's HUGE! Oh that's right, they can shrink him.

Bowser Jr. first used the Junior Clown Car in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, released two years after Brawl. He also used it in NSMB U. Besides using tools from his original appearances, he also has a lot of creative liberties and cues from Mario Kart (that had Clown Car themed karts) and Super Mario World (Mecha Koopas like daddy Bowser used in that game's boss battle).

Overall, a great addition and let haters hate.

He did it! Ridley actually made it!... but imagine fighting against that beast in FG. It's the thought that counts. It's not impossible for him to be in Smash, but it's the after effect of him being in that would ruin it. It would literally be a boss battle every time you fought him.

So, you use the following formula:

It's easy to get creative with the Clown Car. You could add all sorts of mechanisms that would hardly look out of place.

I also wanted Bowser Jr. in Brawl, but I kinda stopped caring about him for this game. While at the first time I knew of him in Smash 4 I didn't get to excited, upon seeing his moveset in action and all that, I really liked his addition. The moveset is greatly creative and fun, it pays homage to Bowser Jr.'s debut with the Final Smash being Shadow Mario and having the 7 Koopalings as alternate options is a great idea.

One of my favorite newcomers of this game. That's for sure.

I dunno, just my personal observations, it's probably not finished.

The idea is there, which is what matters. Obviously professionals would do a more polished job.

I'm in the same boat. I do think he has an interesting moveset, but I would have preferred something inspired by his paintbrush. We're essentially playing as the "Clown Car" which bothers me a little since Jr. could offer much more, but what's done is done.

It would be cool if next Smash or whatever, they give Bowser Jr. a new moveset based on Sunshine, and keep the Koopalings in the Clown Car. Though, ehh, I don't really see this happening.

Ok, well since it seems to go back, i'm just going to tell my thing on dr mario related to Paper Mario.

So, the worst case that I might get mad if it happens would be to not put dr mario, but put Paper Mario as a clone much like dr mario s (though, I should use semiclone here, it's tend to get merged, but my point is the same).

What this would mean is that they wanted a semiclone, but took not the best choices and I might say a bad one. Dr mario for a mario clone is really the best one. Prior experiences, moveset already worked....it does make it a bit easier when you have a base to work on saving dev time which btw, is one of the side reasons they would want a clone.

HOWEVER, putting Paper Mario as the clone is just bad. Obviously, it just completely waste the potential that again, you could push dr mario, but in no way you can go that much further to tell that it could be more unique to Paper Mario (pm me if you want to know why, this would be way to long to tell). But there's another reasons that I see no mention anywhere, it wastes dev time. You have to take him, MAKE NEW ANIMATIONS due to its structure, they HAVE to fit him well enough and then make moves that HAVE to require not much effort from the mario one and vary them a bit.

That is EXTREMELY pointless for Sakurai and team to do. If they want to do a clone, that means they don't have enough time to do a full new unique character. Therefore, by TRYING to do it with Paper Mario, it's contradicting the purpose.

HOWEVER, I want to remind you soemthing:

He CAN be a clone. That is like 100% objective, he CAN. The problem is is just does not make any sense if the intent is to actually do that. Plus, it just is so much different that really, it does become harder to use his potential so it FEELS enough different without breaking his nature....so, it's very unlikely for him to be a clone candidate even if it's possible.

Now, I just want to end this right there, dr mario as clone and Paper Mario not there at all is A VERY GREAT OUTCOME!!!!

Because it shows that they took a clone since they wanted to, but if they ever wanted to put Paper Mario (which is possible with the stage hint and the full repping), it was simply previously decided that they can't. Or, it was simply not there in the first place for reasons, but again, not putting him as a clone is a good thing and this is why I actually applaud Sakurai for that....he got a stage, that alone is big.

Now, both can be in.

Ok, I just want to rant on this because this has been frustating me so much and no one get it.

When 4 rep was confirmed, I saw a lot saying it was enough (which is true), but going to say there shoudln't is just....why?

Because when rosalina got announced, mind blown and guess what? People thought, "ok I can live with this, but THIS time it's it, there's just no chances for anything mario now". Again, considering Sakurai potential, why?

Bowser jr and dr mario confirmed, FULL FREAKING HATE and even flamming on the Paper Mario thread for dr mario so much that I had to make this into private group....

AND I STILL SEE THE SAME THING AS NO REP SHOULD BE THERE NOW!!!!!

As for my stands on dr mario, as I just said, I'm perfectly fine with him getting in or not if Paper Mario is in or not. meaning that if you flame dr mario for that, I really think you should think twice, because there's like no relation.
