So, my mom is calling a psychiatrist today to set an appointment with me because she believes (and so do I) that I have Asperger's syndrome. She told me that I'm going to have a 'team' consisting of my guidance counselor, a psychiatrist, a social worker, and a friend with the same disorder.

I'm not worried so much as having the disorder, but what it's going to be like with a 'team'. Anybody else here have to deal with such a thing, and if so, what's it like?

Oh, right.

Well, what's important is that you shouldn't fall back on that team of people if you believe you have been living your live peacefully. No need to commit to help you don't need.

I think its making more of a deal of it than it is, Some things you have to deal with on your own mostly. You won't have a team of people with your throughout your whole life so sometimes you just gotta learn to go it alone. I can't blame your mum for wanting that but I think more than one person to help you is silly, although it is good to know someone else who is in the same boat.

From what I know of Asperger's part of the problem is not being able to recognize emotions from faces and being able to emphasise with people. Others I think can only help you so much but they won't be able to do anything for you. I think too much 'help' will only put you in a little bubble.

I have Aspergers too. And I also had a what you call a "team" during my school years. I never thought the counseling did anything. Having people who I could relate to was good though. I spent my lunch period with a counselor and worked on social skills. I spent one week in a hospital to get me on correct medication(not going to happen to you probably).

My experience may be different from yours. I also suffer from mental depression, which was more of the reason why I had to go into counseling.

But its not a big deal. This isn't something you should be bothered by.

There's more to it than that but you covered the most important, and only relevant, point to Aspergers. There are also signs of Aspergers, such as obsession over a certain topic, and reluctant to change a routine. But none of those matter. The important thing is that kids with Aspergers don't understand the other kids around them. I didn't have many friends in school, and the friends I did have all played video games(my obsession).

jolly old england. hohoho.
Well everone in the team will have a different role, though I guess it seems overwhelming. You'll probably see some much less than others and perhaps you'll never need some of them at all. They are generally lovely people and they'll be supportive.

I think it'll be a good thing. But if you don't like it, just talk to your mum about it. It's worth a try, right?
