Curious to know what some of you around here would've done at a situation that happened at a local festival earlier.

So, my small group of people walk in, buy our tickets and what not and we find another larger group of friends in line for a ride. So, we head on over and start to socialize. While one of my friends, Kyle, is looking back at the lake and the rest of us jabbering away, an older man in his 40's (who looked like he was a ***** in high school), takes his hat off and tells Kyle, "Hey, you're cuttin'. You need to get out of line." Kyle just turns around and starts talking.

With that, the man decides to step out of line and walk up by us. Still with no hat on (actually, now he doesn't even have it on him), taps Kyle on the shoulder and both of them look at each other in the face. The man zones everyone out but my friend and says in a very irritated voice (and I quote), "Who do you think you are, cutting in front of all these people?! Huh? You've got some real balls thinking you can do that! Besides, what gives you the right to cut in line?! I've been here for 30 minutes, with my little boy and separated from my family and you think you can do this?! Look me in the eye and tell me you've been here for 30 minutes!"

We've hardly been here for 5-10 minutes. Kyle says, "No sir, I haven't--" he starts to look away and then the man... "Look me in the eye!" Kyle looks him in the eye and says, "No sir, I have not been here for 30 minutes." "Then what is this?" Our original group just storms off in the sense of "**** you."

Though now I'm kind of wishing we'd started something... 'specally since he was yelling in my ear. <_< But eh, 'what gives you the right' and 'look me in the eye' became the jokes of the night.

So SmashBoards, what would you've done? :D

Were you actually going to board the ride with your larger group of friends while you were up there socializing?

If not, then I think you could have told him that you didn't intend to actually go on the ride.
That's just my 0.002 cents though.

I probably would have giving an appology, then I would have moved on to a different attraction. Then again, festivals were never really my thing....

First, starting something would've been dumb. A bunch of stupid adolescents jumping a 40 years old man is extremely stupid.

Second, you should've cut him straight while he was speaking and say: "We're not staying."
Oh how much would he have shut it. In fact, he'd even feel bad and would've had his humiliation of the night.
People who are too quick to make conclusions feel so sorry when such things happen.

Dont cut in lines, its only a matter of time until you piss of the wrong kind of people or a drunk etc.

theres no excuse for doing it, if you 'started something' that would make your group of friends look like thugs

I would've told him to get out of my face and stop *****ing.
What I'd do after that would depend on his next action.
So basically, the potential to start something would be there for me.

I don't just let people yell in my face and walk away =/

I'd probably do exactly the same and be like: "No, sir, you're right, sir, sorry, sir" and run off like a *****.

Were you going anywhere on the bus? If so, you should have gotten back in line like he asked you to.

If not, then you should have just left.

Just say that you're not going on the ride and you're just trying to talk to some friends. It's pretty simple. If he stays in your face, tell him to go away.

Deck him in the mouth and yell out "Yahtzee" consecutively for 20 minutes.

Say "Excuse me for that" then say something along the lines of "Stop yelling in my face you soggy old man"

Apologize and let him cut. Yeah.

I was really expecting some ***hole-ish responses but hey, goes to show how great people are around here. We were just chatting around with no intention of cutting (at least I didn't). Also, I give highfive's idea two thumbs up. XD

If you weren't really cutting in line and were just talking to your friends, I would have blunty and depending on how much of an an *** he was being, sharply said that I wasn't not staying there, same as Ryureiatsu said.

If you were actually cutting without asking well then yeah..he should be pissed and I would be too <.<;

Well, you say he was pretty close, I woulda done a retreating empty short hop, to keep your distance. Wait for him to approach you and go for a grab, if the grab connects it's a pretty simple chain grab. Just Uthrow>uthrow>uthrow.

Seriously though, I would have just told him I wasn't going on the ride, just talking to some friends.
